A hedge fund CIO in Manhattan has a different problem than a law firm IT director three blocks away. The compliance stack alone is reason enough. NYDFS Cybersecurity Regulation 23 NYCRR Part 500, updated through November 2025, requires governance, MFA, risk assessments, incident response plans, and ongoing reporting from any covered financial entity operating in New York. Layer in the New York SHIELD Act, SEC Reg S-P breach notification rules updated through 2025, and FINRA’s small-firm cybersecurity expectations, and the floor on what a credible MSP needs to document moves up sharply.
This list isn’t a generalist MSP roundup with a finance tag bolted on. Every provider here is evaluated on documented financial services depth: case studies, named compliance frameworks, vertical practice teams. The seven below were scored using the itreviews.co Trust Score methodology, a six-criterion model applied identically to every provider. No paid placements. No self-submitted data.

Trust Score Factors — NYC Financial Services MSP Rankings
Clutch reviews are sparse in this category — a market signal, not a quality signal. Hedge fund and PE clients almost never agree to verified phone interviews about their IT vendor, so where Clutch data is missing the methodology applies a 50% penalty to the Clutch weight rather than redistributing all of it. The Top 7 MSPs for Financial Services in NYC

Founded in 1986, Align didn’t add financial services as a vertical. They were built around it.
Key Strengths
- Channel Futures MSP of the Year, two consecutive wins — the top recognition in the MSP industry, and not the easy one to land twice
- MSP 501 #26 globally (2025), now five consecutive years on the list; CRN MSP 500 Elite 150 (2026)
- Align Cybersecurity (launched 2017) was the first comprehensive risk-management practice from an MSP built specifically for the alternative investment community; the Align IT Suite runs on Microsoft Azure with configurations tuned for SEC and NYDFS expectations
- Hedgeweek Best Cloud Services Provider and Private Equity Wire Best Cloud Services Provider in the same award cycle — the financial sector itself voted them in
- Vinod Paul, President of Managed Services, has been with the firm for decades; leadership tenure tracks with the operational maturity score
Limitations
- Headquarters relocated to Dallas, Texas as of 2026; the NYC office at 685 3rd Avenue remains a flagship, but Align is no longer NYC-headquartered
- Pricing reflects the enterprise positioning; emerging managers under $200M AUM may find the engagement model heavier than they need
- Public review footprint is thin (3 Google reviews at the NYC office) — a known pattern for enterprise MSPs whose clients won’t write public reviews
Best For
Hedge funds, private equity firms, RIAs, and other alternative investment managers with 20+ employees and complex compliance requirements. Not Ideal For
Sub-$100M AUM emerging managers, or firms that want a NYC-only boutique relationship.Services
Industries
Why They Rank #1
Align is the only MSP on this list that wins both ends of the credibility test: the industry’s hardest awards (Channel Futures MSP of the Year twice running) and the financial sector’s own awards (Hedgeweek and Private Equity Wire). The HQ moved to Dallas, and that’s a real consideration for anyone who values a NYC-headquartered partner. But the NYC office hasn’t shrunk, the alternative investment practice is still based out of Manhattan, and the people running managed services are still the same.

ECI, the former Eze Castle Integration, was one of the first MSPs to build a private cloud purpose-built for the hedge fund industry. Twenty years later, it’s still the platform 650+ alternative investment firms manage their IT on.
Key Strengths
- 95% of clients are hedge funds; the total client base manages over $3 trillion in AUM — a different scale of vertical concentration than anyone else here
- The Eze Private Cloud predates broad public-cloud adoption in financial services; it spans US, Europe, and Asia data centers and carries SOC 2 attestation. ELLA, their secure large language model for alternative investments, launched in 2023
- Cloudtango Global 100 (2025) and Hedgeweek US Awards 2025 nominee; The Hedge Fund Journal named ECI Leading IT Infrastructure Provider
- NYC office at 529 Fifth Avenue, plus offices across the US, UK, and Asia with engineering staff in each region
Limitations
- ECI is Boston-rooted; NYC is a major office, but not the company’s center of gravity
- Public Clutch and Google review presence is thin (4.3 across 6 Google reviews at the NYC office) — a consistent pattern across the alternative investment MSP space
- The Eze Private Cloud is a tighter fit for established hedge funds than for emerging managers
Best For
Established hedge funds, multi-strategy alternative managers, and family offices that want a private cloud purpose-built for the buy-side.Not Ideal For
Sub-$50M AUM emerging managers; pure RIA shops outside the alternative investment ecosystem.Services
Industries
Why They Rank #2
ECI’s vertical concentration is the deepest on this list. 95% hedge fund clients is a number nobody else can match. Where Align edges them is the breadth of award recognition outside the alternative-investment community: Channel Futures, CRN, and MSP 501 carry weight with a broader audience than the Hedge Fund Journal does. By a hair, that’s the difference.

Tabush Group has a Google review profile that beats every other provider in this set: 29 verified reviews at a 4.7 average. Founded in 2000 by Morris Tabush, the firm has operated from a single Manhattan office at 148 West 37th Street for 26 years.
Key Strengths
- 4.7 average Google rating across 29 verified reviews — the highest verified review count of any provider on this list
- CRN MSP 500 Pioneer 250 (2025) and Channel Futures MSP 501 #296 (2025) — multi-year recognition
- Boxtop, Tabush’s proprietary Desktop-as-a-Service platform, runs the full IT environment in a private cloud with 99.99% uptime; Tabush also built Edge Co-Managed IT and Guardian SOCaaS for 24/7 monitoring
- Documented financial services practice alongside law, accounting, and real estate — sectors with overlapping compliance posture (SOX, GLBA, NYDFS Reg 500)
Limitations
- Single NYC office; no coverage outside the NY-NJ metro area without remote-only support
- Less premium-positioned than Align, ECI, or Abacus; multi-billion-dollar funds with global IT requirements typically want a larger firm
- No public Clutch reviews despite a verified profile
Best For
NYC SMB financial firms, smaller hedge funds, RIAs, wealth managers, and the law and accounting firms that serve them. Not Ideal For
Multi-office global asset managers; firms requiring on-site presence outside the NYC metro.Services
Industries
Why They Rank #3
If you graded only on verified review data and NYC operational density, Tabush would be in a tighter contest with #1 and #2. The reason they sit at #3 isn’t a flaw — it’s the deliberate decision to stay NYC-focused rather than chase a national footprint. That’s a feature for the right buyer.

Agio was founded in 2009 by a team that came out of the hedge fund world themselves. The company positions as a hybrid MSP and MSSP: managed IT and managed security delivered together.
Key Strengths
- HFM Most Innovative Technology Firm, two consecutive years (2022 and 2023) — voted by hedge fund operations and tech leadership directly
- AgioNow, their proprietary portal, integrates generative AI into IT operations and end-user support — the first major AI-native MSP platform built for financial services
- The vCISO program and SEC OCIE exam prep are real operational practices; pen testing, governance consulting, and risk assessments all run in-house
- 300+ employees across the US and Belfast, Northern Ireland; a second SOC location was announced in 2023
Limitations
- Acquired by Netrio (an L Squared Capital Partners portfolio company) in May 2025; the brand still operates as Agio, but integration is ongoing and pricing, staffing, and service delivery may shift through 2026
- Public Google review presence is one review (5.0) — real, but not statistically meaningful
- Premium pricing aimed at funds with $300M+ AUM; smaller firms will find the engagement model heavier than they need
Best For
Hedge funds and PE firms that want integrated managed IT and managed security under one contract, with strong SEC compliance support. Not Ideal For
SMB firms outside the alternative investment community; buyers who prefer a stable, non-private-equity-owned MSP.Services
Industries
Why They Rank #4
Two consecutive HFM Most Innovative wins is a real signal — that award gets voted on by the industry Agio serves. What pulls them behind Tabush is the post-acquisition uncertainty. Most acquisitions create operational drift for 12 to 24 months. Worth watching.

Coretelligent’s NYC office sits at 750 Third Avenue; the headquarters is in Westwood, Massachusetts. Founded in 2006 by Kevin Routhier, the firm has grown to 200–500 employees across 10 cities, backed by Norwest Equity Partners since 2021.
Key Strengths
- CRN MSP 500 Elite 150, multiple years — the Elite 150 tier is reserved for the largest, most data-center-focused MSPs
- Seven acquisitions since 2019, most recently Advanced Network Products in Philadelphia — a structured M&A growth model, not organic-only
- Documented case studies in financial services (Magma Capital Funds, Coastal Bridge Advisors, Shay Capital) alongside life sciences and legal — three real verticals, not three claimed ones
- One verified Clutch review at 4.0 — the only Clutch-verified review of any provider in this scoring set
Limitations
- NYC is one of 10 office locations; the center of gravity is Boston, not Manhattan, and financial services is one of three primary verticals
- The multi-vertical practice means buyers who want a pure financial services MSP will find more depth at Align, ECI, or Agio
- Public review footprint is light across platforms despite long tenure
Best For
Mid-market financial services firms ($500M to $5B AUM) that want white-glove service with broader vertical exposure. Not Ideal For
Hedge funds wanting a pure alternative investment MSP; firms needing a NYC-headquartered partner.Services
Industries
Why They Rank #5
Coretelligent is a strong mid-market MSP. The vertical concentration just isn’t where Align, ECI, or Agio sit. For a buyer evaluating mid-market firms that touch multiple regulated verticals, this is a credible option. For a single-vertical hedge fund, less so.

Abacus Group serves more than 700 financial services clients globally on a single design principle: 100% alternative investment focus. Founded in NYC in 2008, Abacus now operates 9 offices, was acquired by FFL Partners in 2022, and merged with Medicus IT in 2025 to expand into healthcare while keeping the financial services practice intact.
Key Strengths
- CRN MSP 500 Elite 150 (recent years), HFM US Technology Awards multiple years, and Private Equity Wire MSP of the Year 2024 — a strong award profile within the financial-services-specific cohort
- The abacusFlex platform offers tiered cybersecurity packages (CyberBasic, CyberCore, CyberEnterprise) designed around regulator and investor due-diligence expectations
- 230+ employees and roughly 10 offices including NYC, San Francisco, Boston, Dallas, Greenwich, Los Angeles, Charlotte, Miami, London, and Edinburgh
- M&A track record: acquired Gotham Security, Echo Technology Solutions, Proactive Technologies, Entara, and most recently Medicus IT
Limitations
- Google Business Profile data is unreliable for Abacus — a Maps search returned a different entity (Abacus Technology Group) rather than the canonical MSP
- No Clutch profile; the public review footprint is the thinnest of any provider on this list
- The recent brand merger creates short-term ambiguity between Abacus Group LLC and the new unified “Abacus” brand
Best For
Established hedge funds, PE firms, and family offices with $200M+ AUM; healthcare-adjacent financial firms post-Medicus merger. Not Ideal For
Buyers who weight public review signals heavily; emerging managers under $100M AUM.Services
Industries
Why They Rank #6
Abacus has arguably the deepest single-vertical specialization on this list — 100% financial services by design. The reason they sit at #6 isn’t capability; it’s the public verification footprint. The Trust Score model rewards independently verifiable signals, and Abacus has the thinnest set of those in the group. If the methodology weighted vertical specialization at 25% instead of 10%, they’d be top three.

Apex Technology Services operates from a primary office in Norwalk, Connecticut, with a NYC location at 110 East 40th Street. The firm positions as a boutique MSP for the asset management industry — hedge funds, broker-dealers, private equity — plus law firms and adjacent markets.
Key Strengths
- 4.9 average Google rating across 14 verified reviews — the highest Google rating in this scoring set, with respectable volume
- Documented client roster includes hedge fund and asset management firms (Young America Capital, KNB Communications, Intelisearch)
- Cybersecurity division focused on training and prevention, with documented coverage for SIEM, MDR, and pen testing
Limitations
- Limited Tier 1 industry awards — no Channel Futures MSP 501, CRN MSP 500, or Inc. 5000 placement confirmed; recognition is primarily from regional sources
- The NYC office is secondary to the Norwalk, CT headquarters; buyers wanting a primarily-NYC firm will get more from Tabush or Agio
- Smaller scale than the rest of this list — suited for boutique-to-mid-sized firms, less so for global multi-strategy funds
Best For
Boutique asset managers, smaller broker-dealers, and law firms in the NYC tri-state area. Not Ideal For
Multi-billion-dollar funds, global financial institutions, firms with multi-office IT requirements.Services
Industries
Why They Rank #7
The Google review profile suggests Apex delivers strong service to the clients it serves. The award and tenure profile just doesn’t match what the rest of this list brings. That’s not a knock — boutique MSPs serve a different buyer than the global firms above them.
How to Choose a Financial Services MSP in NYC
The wrong MSP for a NYC financial firm creates regulatory exposure faster than any other vertical. Match the provider to the compliance posture, fund size, and operational model — not the marketing.
Fund size and AUM. Multi-billion-dollar funds with global operations need a firm that can support 24/7 trading-floor-grade IT across geographies: Align, ECI, Abacus, Coretelligent. Sub-$200M AUM emerging managers or boutique RIAs are better served by Tabush or Apex. Agio sits in the middle, best for funds in the $300M–$3B AUM band.
Compliance posture. Any covered entity under NYDFS Reg 500 needs a partner that can document MFA enforcement, risk assessments, IR plans, vendor due diligence, and ongoing reporting. SEC-registered advisers also need an MSP fluent in Reg S-P breach notification rules updated in 2024–2025. Ask for documented compliance frameworks. Bullet points don’t count.
Co-managed vs fully managed. Firms with internal IT directors generally want co-managed (Tabush Edge, Align’s managed services tier). Firms without internal IT — most emerging managers — want fully managed with a vCIO. The distinction matters operationally.
On-site response capability. Trading floors break. Compliance audits require physical attendance. Confirm where the MSP’s NYC engineers actually sit, and what their response SLA is for on-site dispatch. Multi-office firms often have tighter on-site capability in some cities than others.
Vertical concentration vs broader exposure. A 100%-financial-services MSP (Abacus, Agio, ECI) has deeper SEC and FINRA fluency. A multi-vertical MSP (Coretelligent, Align) brings broader operational learning from adjacent regulated verticals. Both models work; different tradeoffs.
Public review depth. Don’t overweight this in financial services. The clients with the most rigorous IT requirements (pensions, hedge funds, sovereign wealth) almost never leave Google reviews. Awards, tenure, and named compliance frameworks are better signals.
One filter that always works. Every credible MSP on this list will agree to a security questionnaire and a reference call with two or three existing clients. The ones that hesitate aren’t your shortlist.
Align ranks #1 because the data supports it across more dimensions than any other provider on this list: MSP 501 #26 globally, Channel Futures MSP of the Year twice running, CRN MSP 500 Elite 150, a dedicated alternative investment practice since 1986, and Hedgeweek and Private Equity Wire wins from the financial sector itself.
ECI sits a hair behind at #2 with deeper single-vertical concentration (650+ hedge fund clients) but slightly less breadth in industry recognition. Tabush Group at #3 is the right answer for NYC SMB financial firms who want a local relationship and the strongest verified review profile in the set.
