Why We Exist

The IT buyer’s
research problem is real.

Every business owner evaluating a managed IT provider hits the same wall. Reviews scattered across Google, Clutch, Yelp, and a half-dozen local directories — each with different criteria, different scoring, and no way to make an apples-to-apples comparison.

“Buyers don’t distrust MSPs. They distrust the process of finding one.”

They’ve been burned by Google reviews that turned out to be fake, by directories that ranked whoever paid the most, and by “top 10” articles written by the companies they were ranking. The process is broken — and the cost of choosing the wrong IT provider is real: downtime, compliance failures, and a year locked into the wrong contract.

The Broken Status Quo

What buyers face before ITreviews.co

Reviews are scattered Google, Clutch, G2, Yelp, UpCity — no consistent methodology across any of them.
Paid rankings dominate The top result is often the highest bidder — not the best provider.
Star ratings miss the point They ignore security posture, response SLAs, certifications, and industry experience.
General directories bury IT providers Buyers wade through web design agencies and marketing firms to find a managed IT provider.
No independent standard exists Every “top MSP” list uses different criteria. Most were commissioned by the MSPs themselves.

What We Are

We cover one market.
We apply one standard.

Most platforms try to cover everything. That breadth is a feature to them. It’s a problem for buyers. We built ITreviews.co to do one thing well: help businesses find and evaluate IT providers.

What ITreviews.co is

  • An independent research platform that scores every IT provider using a published, consistent methodology — regardless of marketing budget.
  • An IT-only platform. Every listed provider is an MSP, MSSP, IT services company, or IT staffing firm. Nothing else.
  • A transparent ranking system. Our scoring criteria and weights are publicly documented on the Methodology page.
  • A buyer-first tool. We have no financial interest in which provider you choose. That independence is the entire product.
  • A research firm that uses analyst-style evaluation — including mystery shopping for high-scoring providers — not just scraped star ratings.

What ITreviews.co is not

  • A pay-to-rank directory. Providers cannot purchase a higher position. Rankings are earned through scoring, not spending.
  • A general B2B directory. Clutch and G2 cover every industry. We cover one. That specificity is the point.
  • A review aggregator. We don’t scrape Google reviews and call it research. We apply a structured evaluation methodology.
  • A vendor or MSP. We provide no IT services, receive no referral fees, and have no relationship with any listed provider.
  • A lead generation company (Phase 1). Our current focus is building content authority and helping buyers evaluate — not selling buyer contacts to providers.

Our Standards

Six principles that make
the rankings worth reading.

01

Independent

No provider can buy placement. No sponsored rankings. Our only revenue interest is in the platform’s credibility — which means we protect it.

02

Transparent

Our scoring categories, weights, and data sources are published in full on the Methodology page. Buyers can read exactly how we evaluate before trusting a single ranking.

03

Consistent

Every provider is evaluated on the same scorecard. The MSP in Charlotte gets the same criteria as the MSP in Denver. No exceptions for larger providers, no local favoritisms.

04

Dynamic

Scores refresh quarterly. A provider that improves their certifications, response SLAs, or customer satisfaction will see that reflected. Stale rankings don’t serve buyers.

05

Specific

We cover one market. IT and MSP providers only. That focus means every result is relevant — buyers never filter through web agencies or marketing firms to find a managed IT provider.

06

Analyst-Grade

High-scoring providers undergo mystery shopping — live test engagements evaluated for response speed, proposal clarity, and technical depth. Our methodology goes beyond scraped star ratings.

The Scoring Model

Every provider.
One scorecard.

We evaluate MSPs on six weighted factors — not a single aggregate star rating pulled from one review site. Each factor maps to something that actually predicts whether a provider will perform for your business.

Review Score35%
Awards & Recognition20%
Years in Business15%
Physical Presence10%
Industry Specialization10%
Service Breadth10%

Scores refresh quarterly. Providers cannot purchase higher placement. Mystery shopping is used as needed to confirm top-tier rankings — not as a weighted factor.

How We Work

Research that goes further
than star ratings.

  1. Seed and identify providers

We catalog MSPs across 20+ US metros using Cloudtango, UpCity, Clutch, and Google Business Profiles — then deduplicate into a single verified provider record per company.

  2. Pull automated data signals

Review ratings, certifications, business filings, domain age, hiring trends, and awards are gathered from public sources and vendor partner directories on a weekly or monthly cadence.

  3. Apply the scoring model

Each provider receives a composite score across our eight weighted categories. Scores are normalized so a small MSP with excellent reviews and certifications can outrank a large one with weak signals.

  4. Mystery shop high scorers

Providers that clear a 60/100 automated threshold are queued for analyst mystery shopping — a live test engagement scored on response time, proposal clarity, technical depth, and pricing transparency.

  5. Flag outliers for review

Review bursts, rating spikes, and inconsistency between platforms trigger analyst review before a score is published. We hold providers with anomalies rather than publish rankings we can’t verify.

  6. Publish and refresh quarterly

Rankings are published with score breakdowns and updated every quarter. Recent performance weighs more heavily — a provider that has improved in the last 12 months will see that reflected.

Every provider on ITreviews.co has been evaluated on the same scorecard. No one bought their ranking. That’s what makes the ranking worth reading.
