Best MSPs in Salt Lake City, UT (2026)

Kate Larsen, IT Research Analyst · Last updated: May 5, 2026 · No paid placements
Nexus IT and Executech tie for the top Trust Score in Salt Lake City at 8.3/10, with Nexus edging the #1 spot at full precision (8.33 vs. 8.26) on stronger third-party recognition density and compliance focus. NetWize ranks #3 (7.1/10) on the strongest verified review profile on this list — 9 Clutch reviews at 5.0 stars and 153 Google reviews at 4.9 — plus a 1998 founding. Protek Support and Wasatch I.T. tie for #4 (6.3/10). Rankings come from the itreviews.co Trust Score: six independent factors applied identically to every provider. No paid placement.

Quick Picks

  • Best Overall: Nexus IT
  • Best for Compliance and Healthcare: Nexus IT
  • Best for Mid-Market and Enterprise: Executech
  • Best for SMBs Wanting Local Depth: NetWize
  • Best for Hands-On Healthcare Practices: Protek Support

If you’re shopping for a managed service provider in the Salt Lake City metro, the candidate pool is small enough to evaluate properly and big enough to have real differentiation between providers. About a dozen MSPs operate at scale across the Wasatch Front. Most cluster in South Jordan, Sandy, Murray, Lehi, and downtown SLC, not the city itself — and that geographic spread is part of why generic Google searches surface uneven results.

This guide ranks the top seven managed IT providers in the Salt Lake metro using the itreviews.co Trust Score methodology: six independently researched factors, applied the same way to every provider. No provider paid for placement. No provider submitted their own data. The ranking reflects the score. That’s it.

One note specific to Salt Lake: two providers here — Executech and Nexus IT — appear on multiple Tier 1 award lists year over year. That’s unusual for a metro this size. Most cities of comparable population have one provider dominating the awards layer. Salt Lake has two genuinely competing at that level. Three of the seven providers on this list have no Clutch profile at all — absence isn’t disqualifying, but it carries a small scoring penalty. The methodology page explains the exact mechanic.

Nexus IT is what happens when an MSP commits hard to compliance-heavy industries and the awards layer notices. Channel Futures MSP 501 at #105. CRN MSP 500 recognition. Inc. 5000 three years running. Cloudtango MSP Select 2025. $60M growth investment in 2025 — a concrete signal that the operating model has institutional confidence. 4.9 Google rating across 163 reviews — the highest verified Google profile of any provider in the top three. Documented healthcare and financial services depth including HIPAA posture and SOC 2 framework support.

Key Strengths

  • Channel Futures MSP 501 #105, CRN MSP 500, and Inc. 5000 three years running — the densest Tier 1 award stack of any provider in this market
  • $60M growth investment in 2025 — institutional confidence in the operating model at scale
  • Cloudtango MSP Select 2025 designation from the IT-specific evaluation platform
  • 4.9 Google rating across 163 reviews — highest verified Google profile among the top three providers
  • Documented HIPAA posture and SOC 2 framework support for regulated-industry clients

Limitations

  • No verified Clutch profile — the most rigorous review platform in the MSP market, and the absence costs a meaningful chunk of the review-score factor
  • Strong compliance positioning means generalist SMB buyers may be paying for capability they don’t need

Best For

Salt Lake healthcare practices, financial services firms, and mid-market organizations with compliance obligations (HIPAA, SOC 2, FINRA).

Not Ideal For

Solo operators or micro-businesses with under 10 seats and no compliance exposure — you’d be paying for depth you won’t use.

Why They Rank #1

Nexus and Executech tied at 8.3 to the first decimal. Nexus pulled ahead at full precision (8.33 vs. 8.26) on the combination of Tier 1 award density — MSP 501, MSP 500, Inc. 5000 three times — paired with the strongest Google review profile in the top three. Salt Lake buyers in regulated verticals get a provider that’s been independently validated by the same lists their compliance auditors actually recognize.

Twenty-plus years in the Salt Lake market, multi-state expansion, and the widest service catalog of any provider on this list. Cloudtango MSP Select 2026 — the most recent IT-specific recognition in the market. Inc. 5000 and Channel Futures MSP 501 listings across multiple years. 4.7 Google rating across 263 reviews — highest review volume of any provider in the metro. Independently held. Headquarters in South Jordan, UT with multi-state operational footprint.

Key Strengths

  • Cloudtango MSP Select 2026 — the most recent IT-specific recognition available in this market
  • 20+ year operating history with documented multi-state expansion — stability is real here, not implied
  • Inc. 5000 and Channel Futures MSP 501 listings across multiple years
  • 4.7 Google rating across 263 reviews — highest review volume of any provider in the Salt Lake metro
  • Widest service catalog on this list; independently held with no PE involvement

Limitations

  • Only 3 verified Clutch reviews despite their scale — a surprising gap on the most-vetted review platform for a provider of this size
  • Multi-state operation means the Salt Lake account team depth may not match what the corporate footprint suggests — worth asking specifically during scoping
  • Generalist breadth across so many verticals can mean less concentrated depth in any single one

Best For

Mid-market and enterprise organizations, multi-location businesses, buyers who want a single provider that can scale with them across multiple states.

Not Ideal For

Smaller SMBs under 25 seats who want to be a meaningful percentage of their MSP’s revenue — at Executech’s scale, smaller accounts get proportionally less attention.

Why They Rank #2

Executech and Nexus tied at 8.3. The full-precision math went to Nexus on a combination of compliance positioning and Tier 1 award density per year of operation. Executech has the deeper service catalog and longer operating history, but the review and award factors tipped the other way by fractions. If your selection criteria emphasizes scale, multi-location capability, and operating tenure over compliance specialization — Executech is the right call.

NetWize managed IT services Salt Lake City Murray UT homepage

NetWize doesn’t have the awards shelf of the top two. What they do have is the most verified review depth on this list and a 27-year operating history that reads like a lesson in not breaking things that work. Founded 1998. 9 verified Clutch reviews at 5.0 stars — more than every other provider on this list combined. 4.9 Google rating across 153 reviews. Documented client base across healthcare, manufacturing, and law firm clients on Clutch. Fortinet and Arctic Wolf cybersecurity partnerships. Full-stack delivery. Headquarters in Murray, UT.

Key Strengths

  • 9 verified Clutch reviews at 5.0 stars — more than every other provider on this list combined; the most rigorous verification platform in B2B IT
  • 4.9 Google rating across 153 reviews — strong volume and rating simultaneously
  • Founded 1998 — 27 years of continuous operation in the same market; older than the iPhone
  • Documented client base across healthcare, manufacturing, and law firms on Clutch
  • Fortinet and Arctic Wolf cybersecurity partnerships; full-stack MSP delivery

Limitations

  • No current Tier 1 award listing — Channel Futures MSP 501 and Inc. 5000 absences cost real points on the awards factor (20% weighted)
  • Smaller marketing footprint than the top two providers means less brand presence in regional searches
  • Cloudtango listed but no MSP Select designation

Best For

Salt Lake SMBs and mid-market buyers who weight verified review depth heavily and want a provider with a long, stable operating history rather than the newest awards.

Not Ideal For

Buyers who prioritize award validation as a primary screening signal or need a provider with multi-state scale.

Why They Rank #3

Two factors did the work here. First, the strongest verified review profile of any provider on the list — which carries 35% of the score. Second, the longest operating history of any provider (tied with Executech on founding era). The award gap kept them out of the top two, but the review depth and operating tenure put real distance between NetWize and rank four.

Protek Support managed IT services Sandy Salt Lake City UT homepage

Founded in 2010 in Sandy, Protek has built a credible niche serving Salt Lake medical practices and clinics. CISSP, CompTIA Security+, and ITIL certifications documented on the team page — named engineers with real credentials. 40+ medical clinic clients documented publicly — the healthcare specialization is a portfolio, not a website claim. 4.9 Google rating across 91 reviews. Documented SIEM/SOC, vCIO, and 24/7 monitoring capabilities. Full-stack MSP delivery, not helpdesk-only.

Key Strengths

  • CISSP, CompTIA Security+, and ITIL certifications on named engineers — real credentials, not marketing claims
  • 40+ medical clinic clients documented publicly — the healthcare specialization is an actual portfolio
  • 4.9 Google rating across 91 reviews — strong sentiment in the SMB and clinic segment
  • Documented SIEM/SOC, vCIO, and 24/7 monitoring capabilities — full-stack delivery, not helpdesk-only

Limitations

  • Only 1 Clutch review at 5.0 — penalty applies for thin verification depth on the most rigorous platform
  • 15 years in market puts them well behind the top three on operational longevity
  • No Tier 1 award listings on current cycle — CISSP and CompTIA are personal certifications, not third-party MSP awards

Best For

Salt Lake medical practices, dental clinics, and healthcare-adjacent SMBs that need HIPAA-aware IT and credentialed engineers who understand clinical environments.

Not Ideal For

Buyers who need a national multi-location provider or a deep enterprise services catalog. Protek is sized for the healthcare SMB, not the mid-market.

Why They Rank #4

Protek and Wasatch landed at 6.3 to the first decimal. Protek edged it at full precision (6.314 vs. 6.305) on the strength of documented healthcare specialization plus a stronger service breadth score. The medical clinic portfolio is the kind of evidence the methodology rewards. If you’re a healthcare practice in the Salt Lake metro, Protek deserves to be on the shortlist.

Founded in 2002, acquired by Cyber Advisors in 2025. The acquisition is recent enough that the operating model is still being integrated — worth noting before committing to a multi-year contract. Microsoft Partner status. Inc. 5000 historical listing. Utah 100 designation. Downtown Salt Lake City office at 68 S Main St — one of the only providers on this list with a city-center footprint. 4.8 Google rating across 54 reviews. The Cyber Advisors acquisition expands the service stack beyond what the standalone Wasatch team previously offered.

Key Strengths

  • 23 years in market under independent ownership before the acquisition — long operating history before the 2025 transition
  • Downtown Salt Lake City office at 68 S Main St — the only provider on this list with a city-center footprint
  • Microsoft Partner status, historical Inc. 5000 listing, and Utah 100 designation
  • 4.8 Google rating across 54 reviews — solid sentiment for a generalist provider
  • Cyber Advisors acquisition expands the service stack with capabilities the standalone team didn’t previously offer

Limitations

  • No Clutch profile — penalty applies; verification floor sits at Google reviews only
  • Generalist positioning with no documented vertical specialization on the current website
  • Post-acquisition integration period (Cyber Advisors, 2025) may affect account stability for new clients during transition — worth asking specifically

Best For

Downtown Salt Lake SMBs that want a generalist IT partner with a real local office and now-expanded post-acquisition capabilities.

Not Ideal For

Buyers who need documented vertical depth in a specific industry, or buyers cautious about provider transitions during active integration phases.

Why They Rank #5

Wasatch matches Protek on operating longevity and arguably exceeds them on award footprint, but the lack of documented vertical specialization plus the no-Clutch penalty drove the score below Protek by a decimal at full precision. The acquisition is a wildcard worth a direct follow-up before signing.

Qual IT Quality Computer Consulting managed IT Salt Lake City UT homepage

Qual IT (Quality Computer Consulting) has been operating in the Salt Lake metro since 2002. Smaller than the providers above, more relationship-driven, and the review profile reflects clients who genuinely like them. 5.0 Google rating across 102 reviews — volume and rating both real. 23 years in the same market under continuous ownership. Cloudtango listing as a third-party MSP recognition signal. Small team means buyers tend to interact with the same engineers consistently.

Key Strengths

  • 5.0 Google rating across 102 reviews — volume and rating are both real signals at this sample size
  • 23 years in the same market under continuous ownership — relationship continuity is genuine here
  • Cloudtango listing as third-party MSP recognition
  • Small team means consistent engineer relationships — buyers know who they’re calling

Limitations

  • No Clutch profile — same penalty as other providers without verified Clutch presence
  • No Tier 1 award listings — award factor scores low across the board
  • Limited public documentation of vertical specialization or specific service depth

Best For

Salt Lake small businesses (10–40 seats) that want a personal-touch MSP relationship and don’t need enterprise services breadth or compliance-specific credentials.

Not Ideal For

Mid-market buyers, compliance-heavy verticals, or buyers who weight third-party award validation heavily in their procurement process.

Why They Rank #6

Strong review sentiment and long operating history, but no awards layer to support the score. Qual IT competes on relationship and consistency, not credentials. For the right buyer that’s exactly what they want. For others, the lack of verified vertical depth or third-party award recognition is a real gap — and the methodology reflects that honestly.

Formerly SOS Support, rebranded to Vigilant IT recently. South Jordan office with verified physical presence in the Wasatch corridor. Smaller public footprint than every other provider on this list. 4.9 Google rating across 59 reviews — solid review sentiment in the volume tier. Cloudtango listing. The rebrand suggests active investment in repositioning, though the recent change makes long-term track record harder to verify from public sources.

Key Strengths

  • 4.9 Google rating across 59 reviews — solid review sentiment for the volume and client size served
  • South Jordan office with verified physical presence in the Wasatch south corridor
  • Cloudtango listing as third-party MSP recognition
  • Active rebrand signals investment in repositioning and service expansion

Limitations

  • Recent rebrand from SOS Support makes long-term track record harder to verify — which is a fair scoring penalty, not a judgment about service quality
  • No Clutch profile — same verification penalty as other providers without verified Clutch presence
  • No Tier 1 award listings on the current cycle
  • Service breadth and vertical specialization not deeply documented on the public website

Best For

Smaller environments in the south Salt Lake metro looking for an accessible price point and a provider sized for SMB relationships.

Not Ideal For

Mid-market buyers, regulated verticals, or buyers who need deep public documentation before signing. Thin public track record limits pre-sale validation options.

Small BusinessSouth Jordan SMB

Why They Rank #7

Vigilant and Qual IT tied at 5.4. Qual IT edged it at full precision (5.40 vs. 5.36) on stronger verified review volume. Vigilant’s recent rebrand limits the public track record signal — which is a fair scoring penalty. A provider doing the work well but with thin third-party documentation will score below one with comparable work and more documentation. That’s the model.

How to Choose a Managed IT Provider in Salt Lake City

By size: Under 20 seats and uncomplicated → Qual IT or Vigilant IT will deliver more attentive service than the top-three providers, who are operating at a different scale. 20–80 seats and growing → NetWize, Protek, or Wasatch sit in the sweet spot. 80+ seats with multi-location complexity → Executech or Nexus IT.

By vertical: Healthcare practice in the Wasatch corridor → Protek’s clinic portfolio and Nexus IT’s compliance stack are the two-deep shortlist. Financial services or fintech (and Salt Lake has a real fintech footprint) → Nexus IT. Manufacturing or general SMB → NetWize or Executech depending on size.

By geography: The provider distribution skews south of the city. Most listed providers are in South Jordan, Sandy, Murray, or downtown — not “Salt Lake City” proper. If on-site response time matters and you’re in Park City, Bountiful, or Lehi, ask specifically about response SLAs from the provider’s actual office, not the marketing copy. Wasatch I.T. is the only provider with a verified city-center downtown office.

By compliance depth: If you’re handling PHI, PII, or financial data with regulatory exposure, this isn’t the place to save money. Nexus IT and Protek Support are the two providers on this list with documented compliance credentials. The others may be capable, but capability without documentation is a procurement risk you’ll feel during an audit.

One caveat that applies broadly: The MSP market is consolidating. Wasatch was acquired in 2025. Ask any shortlist provider directly: are you currently in acquisition discussions? It’s a fair question and most will answer honestly. A provider being acquired during your first year of service changes your account team, pricing model, and escalation path — and you won’t always get advance notice.

Nexus IT earns the top spot in Salt Lake City because the combination of Tier 1 award density, healthcare and compliance positioning, and the strongest verified Google review profile in the top tier added up to the highest Trust Score in the market — by a fraction. Executech is the right call for buyers who weight scale, multi-location capability, and operating tenure over compliance specialization. They tied Nexus to the first decimal and lost only on the full-precision tiebreaker.

NetWize is the right call for SMBs and mid-market buyers who weight verified review depth heavily and want a provider with two-and-a-half decades of continuous local operation. Pick the provider whose strengths match what your business actually needs. Then validate the fit with a real conversation — not just a website read.

What Salt Lake Buyers Ask

$110 to $190 per user per month is the working range for full-stack managed IT in the Salt Lake market. SMB-focused providers tend to sit in the lower half. Mid-market and compliance-heavy providers sit in the upper half, sometimes above. Per-device pricing exists, but per-user has become the dominant model in this market over the last five years. For a 25-seat company, expect $2,750 to $4,750 per month depending on compliance scope and coverage level.
Geography matters less than buyers think. Most Salt Lake MSPs operate fully-remote support models with on-site response only for hardware-specific incidents. The exception is heavily-regulated environments where physical presence at the office matters — healthcare practices, law firms with on-prem document servers, manufacturing with operational technology. In those cases, response time from the provider’s actual office is the right question to ask. Wasatch I.T. is the only provider on this list with a verified downtown city-center office.
Because 8.3 is the rounded score. At full precision Nexus IT scored 8.33 and Executech scored 8.26 — a difference that rounds to the same first decimal. The tiebreaker was the combination of compliance positioning and Tier 1 award density per year of operation. For most buyers the practical difference between the two at this score gap is: pick on fit, not score. If you need compliance specialization, Nexus. If you need scale and multi-location capability, Executech.
Mostly independent as of this writing. Wasatch I.T. is the most recent acquisition (Cyber Advisors, 2025). Executech remains independently held. Nexus IT took a $60M growth investment in 2025 but the operating leadership stayed. The other smaller providers are all independent as of this page’s research date. The MSP industry is consolidating fast, so this answer may shift within 12 months — worth asking any short-list provider directly.
Break-fix means you call when something is broken and pay per incident. VARs (value-added resellers) primarily sell hardware and software with implementation services attached. Managed service providers operate on a fixed monthly fee and take ongoing responsibility for keeping your systems working — the financial incentive flips because problems become their cost, not their revenue. Most providers on this list are full MSPs. If you’re still evaluating whether you need an MSP vs. break-fix, the typical inflection point is around 15–20 users or when a single IT incident starts costing more than a month of MSP fees.
Trust Scores are reviewed and updated on a regular research cycle — at minimum every six months, and sooner when significant changes occur: new MSP 501 publications, acquisitions, or material shifts in review volume. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent research cycle. Award scores update following each annual publication cycle (Channel Futures MSP 501 in summer, CRN MSP 500 in spring).
