Best MSPs for Automotive (2026)

Kate Larsen, IT Research Analyst · Last updated: June 11, 2026 · No paid placements
Meriplex ranks #1 among managed IT providers for the automotive industry, earning its position through the strongest combination of verified reviews, national MSP 501 recognition, and a documented automotive IT practice built partly through the acquisition of a dealership-focused MSP. Helion Technologies ranks #2 as the only provider serving exclusively auto and truck dealers. ITS rounds out the top three with deep DMS expertise and national reach. itreviews.co scores all providers using the Trust Score methodology — a six-factor independent framework. No provider paid for placement.

Quick Picks

  • Best Overall: Meriplex
  • Best for Dealership Specialists: Helion Technologies
  • Best for Multi-Location Dealers: ITS (Intelligent Technical Solutions)
  • Best for Cybersecurity Focus: Airiam
  • Best for SMB/Independent Dealers: Diligex

Finding a managed IT provider for an automotive business is harder than it looks. Most MSPs will tell you they serve “all industries,” then send a generalist technician who’s never touched a dealer management system. When CDK goes down on a Saturday afternoon or a Reynolds & Reynolds update breaks service-bay workflows, you need someone who already knows what they’re looking at.

This list focuses on providers with documented experience in automotive IT, covering dealerships, dealer groups, and automotive businesses that handle customer financial data, DMS platforms, OEM VPN requirements, and FTC Safeguards Rule compliance. If you offer financing or lease vehicles for more than 90 days, that compliance piece alone should be a filter on every MSP conversation you have.

We scored 7 providers using the itreviews.co Trust Score, a six-factor independent scoring model. Rankings are determined by score. Period.

How We Scored These Providers

Six factors. Fixed weights. Applied identically to every provider on this list. Review data was collected via Apify (Google Maps and Clutch) and confirmed via direct web research. Cloudtango data was collected via web search. No provider submitted their own data. Providers without a Clutch presence take a partial penalty because Clutch verification requires actual clients to complete phone interviews.

Meriplex managed IT services for automotive dealerships homepage screenshot

Meriplex earns the top score by combining the strongest verified review footprint on this list with repeated top-tier industry recognition and an automotive IT practice built through both organic growth and strategic acquisition.

Key Strengths

  • MSP 501 ranking at #50 globally (Channel Futures, multiple years), plus repeated CRN MSP 500 recognition — that level of sustained recognition requires documented revenue, profit margin, and client retention data, not marketing claims
  • Acquired CPI Solutions in 2022 specifically for its automotive vertical expertise, absorbing a firm with 38+ years of experience serving dealers and auto businesses across Southern California
  • Dedicated automotive IT page with specific FTC Safeguards advisory services, DMS platform management, and 24/7 support structured around dealership operating hours
  • Active Clutch profile with verified reviews at 5.0 rating — most automotive-focused MSPs have no Clutch presence at all
  • Multi-office national presence across Baton Rouge, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Indianapolis, Irvine, LA, Philadelphia, Portland, Sacramento, and San Diego with field service teams who can dispatch on-site

Limitations

  • Automotive is one vertical among several. Helion exists solely to serve dealers — if exclusive automotive specialization is your top filter, Helion is the stronger match
  • Clutch review volume is sparse (2 reviews). The 5.0 rating is verified, but the sample is thin compared to their overall scale
  • Pricing and specific SLA commitments aren’t public, which makes apples-to-apples comparison harder before a discovery call

Best For

Multi-location dealer groups or automotive businesses that want a national MSP with documented automotive experience, broad service breadth, and the infrastructure to scale across regions.

Not Ideal For

Owners looking for a provider that is dealership-only in focus, or smaller single-point dealers who don’t need national field coverage.

Why They Rank #1

Meriplex’s combination of an active Clutch profile, MSP 501 top-50 ranking, 25 years of operation, and a strategically built automotive practice gives it the strongest composite Trust Score on this list. The CPI Solutions acquisition wasn’t just geographic expansion; it brought an automotive-specific client base and workflow expertise that now sits inside a nationally built MSP. That’s a harder combination to replicate than pure specialization alone.

Helion Technologies managed IT for auto and truck dealerships homepage screenshot

Helion has done one thing for 29 years: IT and cybersecurity for automotive and heavy truck dealerships. That’s not a vertical focus. That’s the whole company.

Key Strengths

  • 700+ active dealer clients, 1,000+ stores under management nationwide — publicly stated and consistent across multiple independent sources
  • Named Tekion integration expertise. Helion doesn’t just manage Tekion; they help dealers get more from capabilities most are barely using. That specificity comes from doing it at scale
  • CISSPs and CISSAs on staff, with CRN MSP 500 recognition in the Security 100 category (2020) and Pioneer 250 (2022, 2023)
  • Channel Futures MSP 501 appearances in 2020, 2021, and 2022, plus ChannelE2E Top 100 Vertical MSPs ranked #6 in the automotive segment
  • 4.9 Google rating across 229 reviews — that review volume for an MSP serving dealerships (a sector where public reviews are rare) is a real signal of client satisfaction at scale

Limitations

  • No public Clutch profile. Under our methodology, absent Clutch presence carries a partial penalty because Clutch verification requires client phone interviews. Buyers who rely on Clutch for independent verification won’t find it here
  • Exclusive automotive focus means they can’t support a business with mixed IT needs across non-automotive entities under the same contract
  • Recent award appearances (CRN, MSP 501) are confirmed through 2023 but not yet confirmed for 2024–2026

Best For

Any automotive dealership or dealer group that wants a provider who has never worked with anyone outside the auto industry. Pure-play specialization, nationwide coverage, dedicated dealership field engineers.

Not Ideal For

Businesses that need IT support spanning multiple industries, or organizations that weight Clutch-verified reviews heavily in their vendor selection process.

Why They Rank #2

Helion’s specialization score is 10 out of 10. No publicly documented competitor has matched that combination of tenure and exclusive focus. The gap between Helion and Meriplex in the final score comes down almost entirely to Meriplex’s presence on Clutch and slightly higher review factor score. Everything else about Helion’s profile is exceptional.

Intelligent Technical Solutions ITS managed IT and DMS expertise homepage screenshot

ITS has been running since 2003, expanded to 12 major metro markets, and earned Cloudtango MSP Select 2026 recognition alongside CRN’s Solution Provider 500 in 2025. Automotive is a named specialty, not an afterthought.

Key Strengths

  • Publicly documented automotive DMS expertise covering Reynolds & Reynolds, CDK, and Tekion. Shows up in named content, named case studies (including The Niello Company), and technical staff quotes
  • SOC 2 Type 2 certification earned in 2025, a meaningful third-party security credential that matters when dealers document their information security programs under the FTC Safeguards Rule
  • Cloudtango MSP Select 2026 and CRN Solution Provider 500 (#394) recognition in 2025
  • 4.7 Google rating across 86 reviews with offices in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Chicago, Detroit, Phoenix, Portland, Seattle, Sacramento, and more
  • Co-managed IT offering suits dealer groups with internal IT staff who want a capable backup without replacing existing headcount

Limitations

  • No Clutch reviews found in current research. Their Clutch profile exists but shows 0 reviews under our scraped data — partial penalty under the Trust Score methodology
  • Automotive is one vertical among several ITS serves. Buyers who need full-time dealership-dedicated expertise will find Helion’s depth harder to match
  • Review volume on Google (86) is lower than the 229 Helion shows, which reflects ITS’s more distributed, multi-vertical client base

Best For

Mid-market dealer groups or automotive businesses that want a multi-city MSP with documented DMS expertise, SOC 2 credentials, and the ability to handle FTC Safeguards compliance alongside IT management.

Not Ideal For

Single-point dealers who want a provider exclusively focused on automotive, or businesses that need more than 12 metro market coverage.

Why They Rank #3

ITS scores well on breadth and longevity, and the SOC 2 Type 2 certification is a differentiator most automotive MSPs on this list don’t have. The gap to Helion is primarily driven by specialization depth and review volume. ITS is a strong choice for dealer groups that want broad coverage more than exclusive automotive focus.

Diligex 21-year NYC MSP dedicated auto dealer practice homepage screenshot

Diligex serves auto dealers, shops, and parts retailers from its New York headquarters and has been doing it since 2005.

Key Strengths

  • 5.0 Google rating across 31 reviews — a strong signal for an MSP of this size
  • Dedicated automotive dealer IT service page covering DMS support, F&I operations, cybersecurity, and infrastructure management
  • 21 years in business (founded 2005), which matters in a sector where MSP turnover is real
  • Month-to-month contract model — for dealers that are burned on long lock-ins with underperforming providers, that flexibility is worth something

Limitations

  • No confirmed public Clutch reviews found during research
  • No confirmed Tier 1 industry awards (MSP 501, CRN MSP 500). Credibility is solid; broad industry recognition hasn’t been publicly documented
  • Primarily NYC-headquartered with global stated reach. Physical presence verification outside New York is harder to confirm than multi-office national providers

Best For

Independent dealers, auto shops, and parts retailers in the Northeast looking for a responsive, mid-sized MSP with automotive-specific experience and flexible contract terms.

Not Ideal For

Large dealer groups needing multi-region field service teams or buyers who weight major industry award recognition heavily.

Why They Rank #4

The 5.0 Google rating across 31 reviews and a dedicated automotive vertical page back up real automotive specialization. The gap to the top three is driven by absence of major industry awards and a thinner Clutch presence. For Northeast-based independent dealers, Diligex is a credible local option.

M7 Services Houston cloud-first automotive IT homepage screenshot

M7 is a Houston-based MSP with a dedicated automotive dealer IT page, 1,500+ customers, and stated coverage across 400+ cities.

Key Strengths

  • CRN MSP 500 recognition in 2023
  • Dedicated automotive dealer IT page with focus on cloud-based DMS management, security, and compliance
  • 4.6 Google rating across 18 reviews with confirmed Houston GMB presence
  • 1,500+ customers cited publicly, with offices in Mexico and the Philippines supporting delivery at scale

Limitations

  • 18 Google reviews is limited volume for an MSP claiming 1,500+ customers. Enterprise-serving MSPs often have fewer public reviews, but the gap is notable
  • Founded in 2013 (13 years), which is solid but shorter than the top three providers
  • Cloudtango profile exists but no MSP Select designation found

Best For

Dealerships and automotive businesses in Houston and surrounding markets, or businesses that want a cloud-first MSP with broad geographic coverage and enterprise delivery infrastructure.

Not Ideal For

Buyers who prioritize depth of public review history or dedicated dealership-only expertise.

Why They Rank #5

The CRN MSP 500 2023 nod is a real signal, and the cloud-first dealer IT page shows actual vertical thinking. The combination of thinner review volume and shorter operating history relative to the top four is what holds the Trust Score in the high-5s rather than the mid-6s.

Airiam cybersecurity-first MSSP for auto dealerships homepage screenshot

Airiam launched in 2021 with a cybersecurity-first design and has built a dedicated auto dealership practice around FTC Safeguards compliance and breach response.

Key Strengths

  • Dedicated auto dealership cybersecurity page with explicit FTC Safeguards Rule compliance framing, written information security program (WISP) development, and ongoing monitoring
  • Purpose-built MSSP architecture with AirMonitor RMM toolset, detection and response, identity and access management, and backup/disaster recovery
  • Field offices including Houston (GMB confirmed), serving clients nationally

Limitations

  • Founded in 2021, so just 5 years in operation. Under our methodology, this scores low on longevity, and longevity matters in managed services because relationship-dependent work compounds over years
  • No Google reviews found in current research. No Clutch reviews confirmed. The absence of public review history is the most significant trust gap for buyers doing due diligence
  • No confirmed Tier 1 industry award appearances

Best For

Dealerships that have had a security incident or are facing imminent FTC Safeguards audit pressure and want a cybersecurity-first MSP that can move fast on compliance documentation and incident response.

Not Ideal For

Dealers who want an MSP with an established multi-year track record, high review volume, or a full-service IT management relationship beyond cybersecurity.

Why They Rank #6

Airiam’s dealership cybersecurity practice and WISP development capability are genuinely differentiated. The Trust Score is held down by short operating history and the absence of confirmed public review data — both fixable over time, neither immediately solvable.

Dealer Secure IT FTC Safeguards compliance for auto dealerships homepage screenshot

Dealer Secure IT serves one market: automotive dealerships needing FTC Safeguards Rule compliance and dealership-specific cybersecurity.

Key Strengths

  • Exclusively automotive dealership focus. Every service documented on the site is built around DMS systems, F&I operations, and FTC Safeguards requirements
  • Detailed compliance documentation on the website covering risk assessment, written information security program (WISP) requirements, multi-factor authentication, and incident response
  • Niche positioning that larger MSPs don’t fully match on specificity

Limitations

  • No verified Google Maps presence found in research. No Clutch profile confirmed. No Cloudtango listing found. The absence of independent public verification across all three review platforms is a significant flag for buyers doing standard due diligence
  • Founding year not confirmed during research, which limits our ability to score operational maturity accurately — scored conservatively as under-5-years
  • No confirmed industry award appearances

Best For

Dealerships with urgent FTC Safeguards compliance needs who want a provider focused exclusively on that compliance practice and automotive dealership IT context.

Not Ideal For

Any buyer who needs broad MSP services, a verified public review history, or a provider with confirmed operational longevity before signing a contract.

Services

Industries

Auto Dealerships (Exclusive)

Why They Rank #7

The exclusive-automotive focus and FTC Safeguards specificity are real differentiators. The score is held down by the absence of any independently verifiable public signals — no Google reviews, no Clutch profile, no Cloudtango listing, no confirmed founding date. For buyers, this is a high-risk profile until that public verification footprint exists.

How to Choose an MSP for Your Automotive Business

FTC Safeguards compliance: If your dealership offers financing, leases vehicles for more than 90 days, or handles credit applications, you need an MSP that can document your FTC Safeguards compliance program, not just mention it in a sales call. Ask specifically: What does your WISP development process look like? Who owns our compliance documentation if we part ways?

DMS platform expertise is the second real filter: Reynolds & Reynolds, CDK, and Tekion each have different support requirements, VPN configurations, and update cycles. An MSP who has handled at least 10 of your DMS type will resolve issues faster and cause fewer disruptions than a generalist who’s learning on your systems.

Right size of MSP depends on your footprint: A single-point dealer with 30 employees has different needs than a dealer group with 12 rooftops across 4 states. National MSPs like Meriplex and ITS can handle the multi-rooftop complexity. Helion was built for it. Diligex and M7 suit smaller, more localized operations.

Three things to put in writing before signing: Response time SLA for DMS outages during operating hours. After-hours support terms. What happens to your documentation if you cancel. Dealers running weekend hours need an MSP whose SLA doesn’t say “next business day” for a Saturday DMS failure.

Specialization vs. scale: If FTC Safeguards compliance, DMS expertise, and OEM VPN configuration are your primary concerns, a dealership-only MSP like Helion will have deeper institutional knowledge. If you run a mixed-industry business or need national field coverage, a multi-vertical MSP like Meriplex or ITS can match on automotive competency while giving you broader services. Neither is wrong — the question is which matters more to your operation.

Meriplex ranks first on this list because it combines the strongest review profile with proven national scale and a deliberate automotive IT practice. That said, if you’re running a dealership or dealer group and you want a provider that has never worked with anyone outside the auto industry, Helion Technologies is the right answer. 29 years. Exclusively dealers. 700+ active clients. That depth doesn’t exist anywhere else on this list.

For dealer groups that also need a cybersecurity-forward MSSP with compliance credentials, ITS’s SOC 2 Type 2 certification and 23-year operating history make it a defensible choice at #3.

What Automotive Buyers Want to Know

Ask them to name three DMS platforms they’ve supported in the last 12 months and describe a specific issue they’ve resolved on each. A generalist who lists automotive as an industry will pause. A real dealership MSP will have three answers in 20 seconds. That’s the fastest filter available.
If you offer financing, take credit applications, or lease vehicles for more than 90 days, you’re covered by the FTC Safeguards Rule as an expanded financial institution. The FTC extended coverage to dealerships in 2023. You need a written information security program, documented risk assessments, MFA, and an incident response plan. Your MSP either helps you build and maintain those, or you’re building them yourself.
Thirty minutes or less for a P1 outage during dealership operating hours is the standard Helion and ITS both reference publicly. If an MSP’s SLA says “4 business hours” or doesn’t differentiate by severity, that’s the wrong answer for a dealership running weekend service and sales volume.
Usually. A single internal IT person at a dealership handles everything from printer jams to CDK outages to staff onboarding. Co-managed IT lets your internal person escalate the things that need depth (security incidents, DMS failures, OEM VPN issues) while keeping visibility and control in-house. ITS and Meriplex both offer documented co-managed models.
It depends on what you’re buying. If FTC Safeguards compliance, DMS expertise, and OEM VPN configuration are your primary concerns, a dealership-only MSP like Helion will have deeper institutional knowledge. If you run a mixed-industry business or need national field coverage and cost flexibility, a multi-vertical MSP like Meriplex or ITS can match on automotive competency while giving you broader services. Neither is wrong. The question is whether specialization or scale matters more.
