Best MSPs for Healthcare in Austin, TX (2026)

Kate Larsen, IT Research Analyst · Last updated: June 12, 2026 · No paid placements
Centre Technologies ranks #1 for healthcare-focused managed IT services in Austin with an itreviews.co Trust Score of 9.2/10, driven by 339 verified Google reviews at 5.0, a Cloudtango MSP Select 2026 award, and a healthcare practice that strengthened materially after their 2022 acquisition of Austin-based Texas Systems Group. TPx Communications (#2, 8.0/10) anchors the multi-site practice category from its 303 Colorado Street Austin headquarters. Contigo Technology (#3, 7.3/10) is Austin’s strongest independently owned option for SMB healthcare. ClearDATA (#7, 6.0/10) ranks lowest by score but is the only provider on this list with HITRUST r2 certification and an AWS Level 1 MSSP Healthcare competency — the score reflects the lack of public review data, not their fit for enterprise healthcare cloud. Rankings use six independently researched factors applied identically to every provider. No provider paid for placement.

Quick Picks

  • Best Overall: Centre Technologies — 9.2/10
  • Best for HITRUST & Enterprise Healthcare Cloud: ClearDATA — 6.0/10

  • Best Austin-Owned MSP for SMB Healthcare: Contigo Technology — 7.3/10
  • Best Compliance-First Specialist: ALCON DTS — 6.7/10
  • Best for Central Texas Medical Offices: Computek — 6.4/10
  • Best National-Backed Local Franchise: CMIT Solutions Austin — 7.3/10

Picking an IT provider for a healthcare practice is harder in Austin than in most cities. The metro has more than 200 active MSPs, the healthcare scene runs the gamut from solo dental offices in South Austin to enterprise health systems anchored at Dell Medical School, and almost no public listicle separates providers who can actually sign a Business Associate Agreement on day one from providers who’ll figure it out after you sign.

This page is the version of that research a healthcare buyer wishes someone had already done. We evaluated seven managed IT providers serving healthcare in the Austin metro using the itreviews.co Trust Score methodology: six independently researched factors covering reviews, awards, tenure, physical presence, healthcare specialization, and service breadth. Same criteria. Applied identically. No paid placement.

The stakes for picking wrong are real. According to HIPAA Journal, the average cost of a healthcare data breach in 2025 was $7.42 million, the highest of any industry for the fourteenth consecutive year. Most of that cost is detection and response. Most of detection and response is the MSP. The provider you sign is, in operational terms, the security posture you’ve decided to live with.

Austin’s healthcare market also has wrinkles you won’t find in a national list. Texas has its own privacy statute on top of HIPAA. The Texas Medical Records Privacy Act (HB 300) imposes broader covered-entity definitions and stricter employee training requirements than the federal baseline. An MSP that’s “HIPAA-ready” may not have done the additional Texas-specific work. Worth asking.

How We Ranked These MSPs

Rankings are produced using the itreviews.co Trust Score methodology — six independently researched criteria, applied the same way to every provider on this page. No provider paid for placement. No provider submitted their own data. The highest score earns the top spot.

Trust Score Factors — Austin Healthcare MSP Rankings

35%
Review ScoreVerified Clutch reviews (heaviest weight, since Clutch requires verified phone interviews), Google reviews, and Cloudtango ratings. When a provider has no Clutch presence, half that weight redistributes to Google and Cloudtango and the other half is lost. Volume is scored logarithmically.
20%
Industry AwardsChannel Futures MSP 501, CRN MSP 500, Cloudtango MSP Select, Inc. 5000. Multi-year appearances score higher than one-off wins. Self-described “award-winning” without a named, verifiable award doesn’t count.
15%
Years in BusinessBuilding and retaining a healthcare MSP client base takes years. Providers with 20+ years of operation score higher than newer entrants. Named leadership and engineers move the score within each band.
10%
Physical PresenceA real Austin office, named local engineers, and a verified Google Maps listing. Multi-city national firms with one Austin office score lower than HQ-based providers with distributed local staff. Virtual addresses don’t qualify.
10%
Healthcare SpecializationDocumented healthcare experience, named compliance certifications (HIPAA, HITRUST, SOC 2), dedicated healthcare service pages, and case studies that reference clinical contexts. Listing “healthcare” as one of twelve bullets doesn’t count.
10%
Service BreadthFull core stack (helpdesk, EDR, cloud, BDR, vCIO) plus premium differentiators like SIEM/SOC, vCISO, and compliance-as-a-service. Bullet-point breadth without operational depth doesn’t score well.

Centre Technologies homepage — healthcare managed IT services provider in Austin Texas, ranked #1 by itreviews.co with Trust Score 9.2/10

Centre’s healthcare practice in Austin didn’t come from a service-page rewrite. It came from the 2022 acquisition of Texas Systems Group, an Austin MSP that had been supporting emergency centers, healthcare practices, and Central Texas businesses since 2002. That history matters when you’re evaluating who actually knows your environment.

Key Strengths

  • 339 verified Google reviews at a 5.0 rating across the Austin office — an order of magnitude above the next closest competitor on this list, reflecting a broad SMB and mid-market client base, not a handful of testimonials
  • Six consecutive years on the CRN MSP 500 including Pioneer 250 in 2026, plus Cloudtango MSP Select 2025 and 2026. CRN evaluates revenue, recurring revenue mix, and operational efficiency, not slide-deck claims
  • Dedicated healthcare practice covering HIPAA compliance, EHR uptime, and high-availability infrastructure for telehealth platforms — operationally detailed rather than a marketing checkbox
  • MSP + Cloud Solution Provider + Managed Security Service Provider rolled into one organization. For a multi-location practice that needs all three under a single contract, this is rare in the Austin market
  • TXSG founder David Doran’s clinical-MSP client roster came over with the acquisition, including emergency care operators and physician groups — named operating history rather than a fresh-from-acquisition learning curve

Limitations

  • Headquartered in Houston with the Austin presence operating as a regional office. The team and local engineering depth are real, but the leadership weight sits 165 miles away
  • No verified Clutch reviews despite a claimed profile. The 50% Clutch absence penalty applied to Centre’s review factor, which is the only thing holding the score short of a 9.5+
  • Mid-market and enterprise pricing. Solo dental practices and single-location specialty clinics under 20 endpoints will find Centre’s cost structure heavier than necessary

Best For

Mid-market healthcare organizations, multi-location physician groups, ambulatory surgery centers, and any Austin-area healthcare buyer in a regulated workload who wants a Texas-based MSP with documented compliance posture.

Not Ideal For

Solo practitioners, dental offices under fifteen endpoints, or any healthcare buyer looking for a hyperlocal owner-operated provider where the CEO is on the support call.

Why They Rank #1

No other provider on this list assembles the same depth of independently verifiable signals across reviews, awards, tenure, presence, and breadth. The 339 5.0 Google reviews, six consecutive CRN MSP 500 listings, and Cloudtango MSP Select 2026 designation aren’t marketing claims — they’re public, checkable facts. The TXSG acquisition gave them an Austin healthcare operating history that newer Austin entrants can’t manufacture. For a mid-market healthcare buyer in this metro, this is the strongest single combination of Texas roots, compliance depth, and operational scale available.

TPx Communications homepage — Austin-headquartered healthcare MSP, ranked #2 by itreviews.co with Trust Score 8.0/10

TPx isn’t a healthcare specialist. They’re a national managed services carrier whose Austin headquarters at 303 Colorado Street happens to make them the largest Austin-anchored IT provider on this page. Healthcare is one of seven verticals they document. For a multi-location practice that needs voice, network, and IT under one contract, that breadth is the point.

Key Strengths

  • The strongest verified Clutch review base of any provider on this list, reflecting national scale rather than just the Austin market
  • Channel Futures MSP 501 ranked #7 globally in 2025, with multi-year recognition history. The MSP 501 is the most cited industry list and TPx’s position there is genuinely high
  • 28 years of operating history under continuous ownership lineage, including the TelePacific predecessor brand. Healthcare clients who sign multi-year master service agreements tend to stay through ownership transitions
  • Full UCaaS, SD-WAN, managed IT, cybersecurity, and colocation stack. For a multi-site practice with phones, EHR connectivity, and after-hours triage workflows across three or more locations, no Austin-anchored independent MSP matches this stack

Limitations

  • Healthcare is documented as a vertical, but TPx doesn’t position itself as a healthcare specialist. No named HITRUST or HIPAA-specific certifications surface in their public materials. They handle BAAs and HIPAA-aligned configurations, but the depth lives in the account team rather than a dedicated healthcare practice
  • National-scale operation. The Austin headquarters is real and the executive team works from it, but the support engineer assigned to your practice is likely not Austin-based. Geography of the support relationship matters in healthcare
  • Recent customer reviews on third-party platforms (BBB, Trustpilot) skew negative on contract handling and post-cancellation billing. Worth confirming contract language in detail before signing

Best For

Multi-location healthcare practices, regional hospital systems with three or more sites, healthcare organizations whose primary IT need is voice + network + managed IT rolled together, and any buyer where the cost benefit of one national contract outweighs the value of a hyperlocal operator.

Not Ideal For

Single-location practices under twenty endpoints, organizations chasing HITRUST certification, or buyers who prioritize reaching the same support engineer for sixty consecutive days.

Why They Rank #2

The award stack, tenure, and Clutch review volume put TPx well ahead of every Austin-only operator on this list. The healthcare specialization gap is what holds them short of #1. For multi-site practices that want a single national partner across voice, network, and IT, this is the right answer. For a single-location practice in a regulated specialty, Centre or a more focused specialist will fit better.

Contigo Technology homepage — Austin-only healthcare MSP, ranked #3 by itreviews.co with Trust Score 7.3/10

Contigo is the strongest independently owned Austin-only MSP serving healthcare on this list. Founded in 2013 by Bryan Fuller and headquartered at 8920 Business Park Drive in Northwest Austin, they’ve built a healthcare practice that sits alongside their engineering and financial services books.

Key Strengths

  • 4.8 rating across 96 verified Google reviews. The volume is strong for an Austin-only firm, and the rating consistency across nearly a hundred reviews signals genuine service quality rather than testimonial cherry-picking
  • Dedicated healthcare industry page covering HIPAA compliance, EHR support, and patient data security — operationally specific rather than a marketing template
  • Three-time Inc. 5000 honoree and SOC 2 Type I certified. Inc. 5000 is a growth signal; SOC 2 is a controls signal. Both matter for healthcare buyers conducting vendor risk assessments
  • Founder-led, Austin-only operating model. CEO Bryan Fuller’s name is on the website, in client references, and in the Texas business filings — a different accountability profile than a multi-state firm where the local manager rotates every two years

Limitations

  • No named HITRUST certification or HIPAA-specific compliance attestation. They operate under HIPAA-aligned controls but don’t publish a third-party-audited compliance report you can take to a hospital system’s vendor risk team
  • 13 years in business. Solid for an SMB MSP but materially newer than Centre, TPx, ALCON, or Computek, all of which have 20+ years of operating history
  • Healthcare is one of three named practice areas alongside engineering and financial services. The depth is real but not exclusive — you’re not getting a healthcare-only operating team

Best For

SMB healthcare practices in the Austin metro between 15 and 75 endpoints, multi-physician offices wanting a hometown MSP, and any buyer who values founder accountability and named local engineers over national scale.

Not Ideal For

Multi-state healthcare organizations, organizations pursuing HITRUST certification, or buyers requiring a SOC 2 Type II report.

Why They Rank #3

The Google review volume and rating are the cleanest signals on the list outside Centre’s. The healthcare practice is documented, the founder is named and accessible, and the Austin presence is real and entirely local. The score is held down by the absence of named HIPAA-specific certifications and the relative youth of the firm. For SMB healthcare in Austin, this is the strongest hometown option available.

CMIT Solutions Austin homepage — national franchise healthcare IT services in Austin, ranked #4 by itreviews.co with Trust Score 7.3/10

Founded as a parent franchise in 1996 with the Austin office on Chevy Chase Drive, CMIT Solutions of Austin combines local ownership with a 250+ franchise network’s collective IT muscle. The Austin location has its own dedicated healthcare IT services page and serves medical practices across the metro.

Key Strengths

  • 5.0 rating across 16 Google reviews on the Austin franchise office — modest volume, perfect consistency
  • Parent CMIT Solutions corporate brand has appeared on the CRN MSP 500 in the Elite 150 category multiple times (2020, 2022, 2023). That brand recognition translates to vendor relationships and tooling depth most independent Austin MSPs can’t match
  • Documented EMR familiarity and HIPAA-aligned service stack on the Austin franchise’s healthcare IT page, covering practice management software, secure patient communication, and clinical workflow support
  • Franchise model means the local owner has direct accountability for service quality, while the national back-end provides 24/7 helpdesk overflow, vendor pricing, and security tooling hard for a small independent to replicate

Limitations

  • The CRN MSP 500 award belongs to the CMIT Solutions parent corporate entity, not the specific Austin franchise. The local office benefits from the brand, but a buyer evaluating award credentials should know where the recognition actually sits
  • Smaller local team than independent Austin MSPs like Contigo or ALCON DTS. For practices that need named engineer continuity, this is worth confirming during sales
  • Generalist multi-vertical practice, with healthcare sitting alongside accounting, legal, construction, and education. Specialization depth is documented but not exclusive

Best For

Healthcare practices that want the operational stability of a national brand with a locally accountable owner, and who don’t need a healthcare-exclusive operating team.

Not Ideal For

Practices pursuing HITRUST certification or those wanting a dedicated healthcare-only MSP.

Why They Rank #4

Strong Google reviews and the parent brand’s CRN MSP 500 award stack pull CMIT Austin into a tie with Contigo at 7.3/10. Contigo wins the tiebreaker on physical presence (Austin-owned HQ versus single franchise office) and depth of local team. For buyers who specifically value franchise-model resourcing, CMIT Austin is the cleaner pick.

ALCON DTS homepage — HIPAA-first healthcare IT specialist in Austin, ranked #5 by itreviews.co with Trust Score 6.7/10

ALCON DTS positions itself, in its own words, as a leader in Medical IT Consulting and Network Integration. Founded in 2001 and operating from a Balcones Drive office in Northwest Austin, they’re one of the most explicitly compliance-oriented MSPs on this list.

Key Strengths

  • 25 years in continuous operation — tenure that’s older than Contigo and CMIT’s Austin franchise combined
  • “Internal HIPAA Compliance” framework documented across the website, with named compliance consultants. ISO 27001 consulting practice. Active CMMC compliance work for defense-adjacent clients. The compliance posture is real
  • Named medical clients including Women’s Center at Westover Hills, with detailed client testimonials describing the operational relationship rather than generic marketing language
  • 5.0 Google rating across 9 reviews. Small volume, but the qualitative content is unusually specific about HIPAA scoping and onsite work

Limitations

  • No Tier 1 MSP industry awards — no CRN MSP 500, no Channel Futures MSP 501, no Cloudtango MSP Select, no Inc. 5000. The compliance certifications are there; the industry-recognition stack is not
  • Smaller operating team and lighter Google review base than the top three providers. The depth is real but the scale isn’t large enough to absorb a complex multi-location healthcare engagement
  • The website positioning (“medical IT consulting”) tilts more toward compliance advisory than fully managed IT services. Worth clarifying during the sales process whether the engagement model fits your needs

Best For

Specialty clinics, women’s health centers, behavioral health practices, and any Austin-area healthcare operator where HIPAA compliance posture is the primary buying criterion and the practice size is below 50 endpoints.

Not Ideal For

Multi-location healthcare organizations, organizations needing 24/7 SOC monitoring, or buyers prioritizing recognized national award credentials.

Why They Rank #5

ALCON DTS’s specialization depth is among the strongest on this list — explicit HIPAA framework, ISO 27001 work, named medical clients with detailed testimonials. The score gets held back by the absence of Tier 1 awards and the smaller operating scale. For a HIPAA-first SMB healthcare buyer, this is a stronger fit than the score alone suggests.

Computek homepage — Central Texas medical office IT in Georgetown, ranked #6 by itreviews.co with Trust Score 6.4/10

Computek operates from Williams Drive in Georgetown, supporting medical offices across the broader Austin metro from Pflugerville to Liberty Hill. They published a dedicated guide to managed IT for medical offices in Central Texas in May 2026, which suggests an active operating focus rather than a marketing checkbox.

Key Strengths

  • 25 years in continuous Central Texas operation, founded in 2001 and headquartered in Georgetown
  • 4.9 Google rating across 63 reviews. Strong volume for a regional MSP, and the review content references real practice owners by name
  • Documented medical office practice including HIPAA Security Rule documentation, EHR support, secure remote access for clinical workflows, and named clinical client references
  • Local team in Georgetown with support coverage spanning Round Rock, Cedar Park, Leander, Liberty Hill, and parts of North Austin. For practices outside the Austin city core, the geographic match is closer than Austin-proper providers

Limitations

  • Georgetown headquarters rather than Austin proper. For practices in South Austin, downtown, or southwest of Mopac, the response radius is wider than ideal
  • No major MSP industry awards
  • Smaller operating team than larger Austin firms like Centre or Contigo. Scale matches SMB medical offices well but won’t support complex multi-site healthcare deployments

Best For

Medical offices in Georgetown, Round Rock, Cedar Park, Pflugerville, and northern Austin metro suburbs. Single-location and small multi-location practices where local response time matters and the engagement size is under 50 endpoints.

Not Ideal For

Practices in South Austin or downtown, multi-state healthcare organizations, or buyers needing 24/7 SOC monitoring.

Why They Rank #6

The Google review volume and rating are strong and the Central Texas tenure is real. What holds Computek back is geography (Georgetown isn’t Austin proper) and the absence of named industry awards. For SMB practices in the northern metro, this is the right pick despite the lower numeric score.

ClearDATA homepage — Austin-headquartered healthcare cloud MSP, ranked #7 by itreviews.co with Trust Score 6.0/10

Here’s the unusual one. ClearDATA is headquartered in Downtown Austin at 111 W 6th Street, with around 180 employees, and they’re the only provider on this list whose entire operating business is healthcare. They hold HITRUST r2 certification. They’re the only AWS Level 1 Managed Security Service Provider globally with a healthcare competency. Their client roster includes Children’s Health, Genentech, GuideWell/Florida Blue, and Wondr Health. And they rank seventh.

Key Strengths

  • HITRUST r2 certified across the CyberHealth platform and managed services — the healthcare industry’s gold standard for PHI security and compliance, held continuously since 2014
  • AWS Premier Partner and the only healthcare-specific provider globally to hold the AWS Level 1 Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP) Competency. For healthcare organizations running production workloads on AWS, no other Austin-headquartered provider comes close
  • Healthcare-exclusive operating model since 2009. Every engineer on every account already knows what a Business Associate Agreement is, how OCR enforcement works, and how to configure cloud infrastructure for clinical environments
  • 2023–2024 Cloud Awards winner in the Best Cloud Consultancy or MSP category, cited by Frost & Sullivan as an industry leader in healthcare cloud. The CyberHealth platform underpins compliance posture for over 310,000 healthcare professionals
  • Active leadership presence in Austin: 180+ employees concentrated in the Downtown headquarters, with a named executive team including CEO Rick Froehlich and CSO Sanjay Cherian

Limitations

  • No public Clutch profile. No verified Google reviews on the Austin GMB. Enterprise healthcare clients don’t leave consumer-style reviews, which the Trust Score methodology can’t compensate for
  • Cloud-first operating model. ClearDATA is not a traditional helpdesk MSP. Practices that need on-site break-fix support, copier coordination, and patch management for thirty endpoints are looking in the wrong direction
  • Premium pricing relative to local Austin MSPs. The cost structure reflects enterprise security operations, not SMB practice IT support

Best For

HealthTech companies, healthcare payers, multi-state health systems, life sciences organizations, and any healthcare buyer whose IT environment is built on AWS, Azure, or GCP and where HITRUST certification is on the roadmap.

Not Ideal For

Solo or multi-location physician practices, dental offices, behavioral health clinics, or any healthcare operator below 200 endpoints who needs traditional managed IT services.

Why They Rank #7 (and Why That’s Misleading)

ClearDATA scores a perfect 10 on healthcare specialization and 7 on awards — the strongest healthcare credentials on this list. What holds their Trust Score down is review data: they have none publicly. Their enterprise healthcare clients don’t write Clutch reviews or post Google ratings for the Austin office, and the methodology penalizes that absence honestly. The result is the lowest score on a list where ClearDATA is, for the right buyer, the right answer. If you’re a HealthTech company in Austin chasing HITRUST certification on AWS, this is the first call you should make. The number next to their name is a methodology artifact, not a verdict on fit.

How to Choose a Healthcare MSP in Austin

The best provider depends on five questions: how big is your practice, where is it located in the metro, what’s your compliance load, what’s your technology environment, and what’s your engagement model preference.

By practice size. Solo and small group practices (under 25 endpoints) get the best fit from Contigo, ALCON DTS, Computek, or CMIT Solutions Austin. Mid-market multi-location practices (25–100 endpoints) fit Centre Technologies or Contigo. Large multi-site practices and regional hospital systems fit Centre, TPx, or ClearDATA depending on whether the priority is Texas roots, multi-site UCaaS, or HITRUST cloud.

By geography within the metro. South Austin, downtown, and West Austin practices have the most options from providers headquartered in Austin proper (Centre on Forbes Drive, TPx on Colorado Street, Contigo on Business Park Drive, CMIT on Chevy Chase Drive, ALCON DTS on Balcones Drive, ClearDATA on 6th Street). Practices in Georgetown, Cedar Park, Round Rock, Leander, Liberty Hill, and Pflugerville should look first at Computek, whose Georgetown headquarters puts them closest to that response radius.

By compliance load. Standard HIPAA-aligned practices are well served by Centre, Contigo, CMIT Austin, ALCON DTS, or Computek. HITRUST-pursuing organizations have one obvious answer: ClearDATA. There’s no second-best on this list for HITRUST. Texas-specific compliance overlays (HB 300 employee training, additional consent requirements) add operational work that Centre, Contigo, and ALCON DTS each document handling.

By technology environment. Cloud-native organizations running on AWS or Azure should evaluate ClearDATA first. Hybrid environments with significant on-premises EHR systems fit Centre, Contigo, CMIT, or ALCON DTS. Heavily on-premises practices with legacy infrastructure get the best operational fit from Computek or ALCON DTS, both of whom have decades of experience supporting older clinical environments.

By engagement model. Founder-led local relationships: Contigo, ALCON DTS, Computek. National brand with local accountability: CMIT Solutions Austin. Texas-based with multi-metro scale: Centre Technologies. National multi-site capability: TPx Communications. Enterprise managed cloud security: ClearDATA.

Questions worth asking before you sign. Ask for two named references operating in your specialty, size range, and the Austin metro. Ask the average tenure of their support engineers. Ask whether they publish a SOC 2 Type II report and will share it under NDA. Ask what their incident response process looks like in the first 30 minutes of a confirmed PHI breach. Ask whether the Business Associate Agreement they propose covers specific operational obligations or is generic template language. The answers will tell you more than any directory ranking, including this one.

The Bottom Line

Centre Technologies ranks #1 in Austin healthcare for 2026 because no other provider on this list assembles the same depth of verifiable signals across reviews, awards, tenure, and Austin healthcare specialization. The TXSG acquisition gave them an operating history in Austin healthcare that newer firms can’t manufacture, and the 339 5.0 Google reviews and Cloudtango MSP Select 2026 designation hold up to any due diligence pass.

For SMB practices that want an Austin-owned operator, Contigo Technology is the cleanest independent option. For multi-site healthcare organizations needing voice, network, and IT in one contract, TPx Communications is the right scale match. For HITRUST-pursuing organizations and HealthTech companies, ClearDATA is the answer despite ranking seventh — the score is a methodology artifact, and the editorial framing in this article exists to make that clear.

What Austin Healthcare Buyers Actually Want to Know

A healthcare MSP operates as a HIPAA business associate by definition. Per HIPAA Journal, MSPs that create, receive, store, or transmit Protected Health Information for a covered entity must execute a Business Associate Agreement, document their HIPAA activities, and retain that documentation for at least six years. The practical difference is that a healthcare MSP supports EHR and EMR systems, understands clinical workflows, can sign and operate under a BAA on day one, and documents their compliance posture publicly. A generalist Austin MSP can become HIPAA-compliant, but most haven’t done the operational and certification work to be ready out of the box.
30 to 90 days for a multi-location practice. Solo practices can sometimes onboard in 2 to 3 weeks if the existing infrastructure is documented and stable. Health systems take six months or longer. The variance comes from what the MSP needs to inherit (legacy infrastructure, in-flight projects, undocumented systems) and how aggressive the security baseline needs to be at go-live.
Usually yes, but the math depends on breach exposure. Healthcare breaches average $7.42M per incident per HIPAA Journal’s 2025 report. If a healthcare-specialized MSP costs $15K to $30K more per year than a generalist and reduces breach probability by even a few percentage points, the math is clear. If you’re a single-location dental practice with two endpoints, the gap closes and a strong generalist may be the right call.
Always, if they’re doing the job. A managed service provider that creates, receives, stores, or transmits PHI is a HIPAA business associate by definition, and HIPAA requires a BAA between the covered entity and the business associate. Centre Technologies, ClearDATA, Contigo, CMIT Austin, ALCON DTS, Computek, and TPx all sign BAAs as part of their healthcare engagement model. If a provider hedges on signing a BAA or doesn’t have a template ready, that’s a disqualifying signal. Walk away.
Some can. ClearDATA’s HITRUST inheritance program is the most documented in this group, with continuous HITRUST certification since 2014 and an automated controls library that maps directly to HITRUST requirements. Centre Technologies has documented HIPAA compliance services and can guide clients through SOC 2 attestation. ALCON DTS does HIPAA compliance advisory and ISO 27001 consulting. For full HITRUST certification on cloud infrastructure, ClearDATA is the only Austin-headquartered provider on this list with the operational track record to credibly support it.
Honest answer: because they don’t have public review data, and the Trust Score methodology weighs that at 35%. ClearDATA serves enterprise healthcare clients (Children’s Health, Genentech, Florida Blue, Wondr Health) who don’t write Clutch reviews and don’t post Google ratings for the Austin office. The methodology penalizes the absence of that data the same way it would for any other provider. The result is a methodology-accurate ranking that’s also misleading for buyers who fit ClearDATA’s enterprise healthcare cloud profile. The Trust Score is one input. For the right buyer, ClearDATA is the right answer regardless of where they rank on this list.
