Best MSPs for Insurance Companies (2026)

Kate Larsen, IT Research Analyst · Last updated: June 23, 2026 · No paid placements
Dataprise ranks #1 for insurance companies in 2026, earning the highest Trust Score (9.0/10) on the strength of 30 years in operation, 31 verified Clutch reviews, Cloudtango MSP Select USA 2026 recognition, and 14 consecutive Channel Futures MSP 501 placements. Ntiva follows at #2 (8.9/10) with the strongest award portfolio of any provider on this list, and CompassMSP ranks #3 (7.7/10) on a dedicated insurance compliance practice with NAIC and vCISO expertise. Rankings use itreviews.co’s independent six-factor Trust Score methodology, not provider fees. No provider paid for placement.

Quick Picks

  • Best Overall: Dataprise (9.0/10)
  • Best for Insurance Compliance Focus: CompassMSP (7.7/10)
  • Best for SMB Insurance Agencies: mPowered IT (6.6/10)
  • Best for Fast-Growing Agencies: Velo IT Group (6.7/10)

Finding a managed IT provider for an insurance agency isn’t the same problem as finding a general IT provider. You need someone who already knows what NAIC Model Law #668 requires, what an agency management system actually does, and why GLBA and NYDFS aren’t interchangeable. A generalist MSP can learn all of that. It just takes time you’re paying for.

This list covers the best MSPs for insurance companies across the United States, scored on six independently researched criteria. No provider paid for placement. No provider submitted their own data. The ranking reflects what we found.

How We Ranked These Providers

We scored every provider on itreviews.co’s six-factor Trust Score, a fixed 100-point model that applies identically to every provider on every list. Review signals from Clutch, Google, and Cloudtango carry the most weight at 35%. Awards and industry recognition account for 20%. Years in operation, physical presence, documented industry specialization, and service breadth fill the remaining 45%. The provider with the highest score ranks first.

Trust Score Factors — Insurance MSP Rankings

35%
Review SignalsVerified reviews from Clutch, Google, and Cloudtango. Volume and rating both count, on a scale that doesn’t bury a specialist with a dozen strong reviews under a generalist with hundreds of mediocre ones.
20%
Industry Awards & RecognitionIndependently confirmed awards only. No provider is described as “award-winning” unless a named, verifiable award (Channel Futures MSP 501, CRN MSP 500, Cloudtango MSP Select) is cited.
15%
Years in BusinessYears in continuous operation and operational maturity — a factor carriers ask about during vendor-stability and audit reviews.
10%
Physical PresenceVerified physical office locations, not service-area claims from three states away.
10%
Insurance SpecializationDocumented insurance specialization — named agency management systems (Applied Epic, AMS360, EZLynx, HawkSoft), NAIC Model Law / NYDFS / GLBA compliance frameworks, and verifiable insurance client references, not a generic “industries served” bullet.
10%
Service BreadthThe full managed IT stack versus helpdesk- or single-product-only shops.

No score was estimated, manufactured, or adjusted to favor any provider. Review data was collected through web research of Clutch profiles and provider documentation in June 2026. Where a verified Clutch rating could not be independently confirmed, the review factor was scored on documented review volume and the gap reflected in the score rather than estimated. A provider without a claimed Clutch profile loses a portion of the review weight rather than having it redistributed. Read the full methodology →

Dataprise managed IT services for insurance companies homepage

Dataprise has been in operation since 1995 and has appeared on the Channel Futures MSP 501 for 14 consecutive years. For an insurance agency evaluating providers, those two facts tell you something a brochure can’t: this is a firm that has stayed relevant across multiple technology cycles and kept clients long enough to prove it.

Key Strengths

  • 31 verified Clutch reviews with clients across financial services, IRA management, healthcare, and regulated sectors, including documented work meeting cyber risk assessment and penetration testing requirements
  • Cloudtango MSP Select USA 2026 — the only provider on this list to hold both Cloudtango Select status and 14+ consecutive Channel Futures MSP 501 placements
  • Founded 1995 — the longest operational track record on this list by a full decade, which matters for an industry that asks about vendor stability during carrier audits
  • 24 office locations across the U.S. with 500+ engineers; the per-user pricing model makes costs predictable as headcount changes during peak policy seasons
  • Strong financial services and banking regulatory experience that maps closely to GLBA Safeguards, NAIC Model Law documentation requirements, and third-party vendor oversight

Limitations

  • No confirmed dedicated insurance-specific page or vertical service page at time of research — their financial services expertise is documented, but insurance-specific positioning is less explicit than CompassMSP or mPowered IT
  • Some clients note that pricing runs high relative to smaller regional competitors; the breadth of service justifies it for mid-market firms but may feel oversized for a 10-producer agency

Best For

Mid-market insurance carriers, title companies, managing general agencies, and IRA/financial services firms with 50–500 employees that need a proven, nationally scaled MSP with regulatory-fluent engineers and verifiable review credibility.

Not Ideal For

Small independent agencies with under 20 staff who want a provider whose principal has documented insurance-specific AMS knowledge from day one. The Dataprise bench is deep; it’s not necessarily insurance-only.

Why They Rank #1

The combination of 31 verified Clutch reviews, Cloudtango Select, 14 consecutive MSP 501 placements, and 30 years of operation puts Dataprise at the top of the credibility stack. Their financial services regulatory experience is real and documented. The one gap is explicit insurance-vertical positioning — which matters less when the evidence base is this strong.

Ntiva insurance IT services homepage

Ntiva ranked #11 on the 2025 Channel Futures MSP 501 and earned CRN MSP 500 Elite 150 status for 2026. For context, that’s competing against hundreds of MSPs globally on actual financial performance and recurring revenue metrics — not marketing claims.

Key Strengths

  • 18 verified Clutch reviews with documented compliance work including SOC 2 and NIST framework engagements; one review specifically credits Ntiva with helping a client achieve a 100% security audit score
  • Channel Futures MSP 501 #11 nationally (2025) + CRN MSP 500 Elite 150 (2026) + Inc. 5000 (2025) — the strongest award portfolio on this list across all three Tier 1 recognitions
  • Founded 2004, with 18+ locations across the U.S. and a delivery model that pairs local technician pods with national engineering depth, so you don’t get a different engineer every quarter
  • Dedicated insurance IT services page with documented insurance case studies including title insurance work, plus adjacent FINRA/SEC/financial services compliance experience
  • CMMC Level 2 certified through an accredited C3PAO — rare among MSPs and a signal of the audit-tested compliance documentation insurance regulators and carriers increasingly ask for

Limitations

  • Clutch reviews indicate pricing runs at the higher end; clients describe investments from $1,200/month to $60,000 overall, which places Ntiva firmly in mid-market and above territory
  • Cloudtango MSP Select status not confirmed — they hold a Cloudtango profile, but Select designation for 2026 wasn’t found in our research

Best For

Regional insurance groups, mid-sized P&C agencies, and firms with 50–300 employees that need a named vCIO and vCISO relationship, documented compliance credentials, and a provider whose own compliance maturity mirrors what their underwriters now expect.

Not Ideal For

Solo practitioners or micro-agencies (under 10 staff) where the relationship investment required to get full value from Ntiva’s strategic service tier doesn’t make financial sense.

Why They Rank #2

Award depth this strong is rare. Ntiva’s combination of #11 nationally on the MSP 501 and CRN Elite 150 reflects actual operational performance, not self-nomination. The insurance vertical page is real, the compliance credentials are documented, and the client review pattern shows long-term partnerships. The narrow gap with Dataprise comes down to review volume (18 vs. 31) and operational age (21 vs. 30 years).

CompassMSP insurance compliance managed IT homepage

Editorial note: CompassMSP was acquired by BlackPoint IT Services in February 2025. The CompassMSP brand, website, and insurance practice continue to operate under that name. This listing reflects CompassMSP as currently operating.

CompassMSP built an insurance vertical practice before most MSPs knew what the NAIC Model Law was. Their team includes members with 9+ years of dedicated insurance regulatory experience, and they publish a newsletter specifically about state insurance cybersecurity law changes.

Key Strengths

  • Documented vCISO services led by insurance compliance specialists with 9+ years of dedicated insurance regulatory experience; they build Written Information Security Programs (WISPs) and incident response plans in the format state commissioners expect
  • Named to CRN MSP 500 Pioneer 250 (2026) and Cloudtango MSP Select USA 2026 — two Tier 1 recognitions in the same year
  • Publishes “The Fine Print,” a regulatory newsletter that tracks state-by-state NAIC cybersecurity law changes — useful for agencies operating across multiple states
  • Documented NAIC Model Act #668 fluency plus NYDFS 23 NYCRR 500, GLBA Safeguards, and state-specific implementations including Wisconsin Act 73
  • Multi-region engineering footprint: CT, NY, FL, MD, PA, NJ, IL, and additional markets post-BlackPoint acquisition

Limitations

  • Only 3 Clutch reviews at time of research — the lowest verified review count on this list and the biggest factor holding their score below Dataprise and Ntiva
  • Founded 2015, making them the youngest firm in this group at 10 years; buyers asking for a provider with a 15+ year track record will look to Dataprise or Ntiva instead

Best For

Small to mid-sized independent insurance agencies (15–150 producers) where NAIC compliance is the primary driver, AMS expertise is needed from day one, and the agency wants a vCISO who already speaks commissioner language.

Not Ideal For

Enterprise insurance carriers or mid-market firms where Clutch review depth is a screening criterion, or agencies that need a provider with a 20+ year operational track record.

Why They Rank #3

No provider on this list has built a more insurance-specific practice. The NAIC compliance depth, vCISO insurance expertise, and AMS fluency are real and documented. What keeps them at #3 is review volume. Three Clutch reviews is a genuine credibility gap relative to the top two providers on this list.

Logically cyber-first MSP insurance clients homepage

Logically has been operating since 1999 and earned CRN MSP 500 Elite 150 recognition for 2026. Their insurance-specific positioning isn’t as explicit as CompassMSP’s, but their client work is real: documented case studies include INSURLYNX (compliance and uptime for an insurance firm) and RSS Insurance (full infrastructure management across two states).

Key Strengths

  • 26 years in operation, a strong national delivery model with staff in 30+ states, and a cyber-first architecture that integrates IT and security under one accountable team
  • Documented insurance client case studies with named outcomes rather than vague “we serve insurance” positioning
  • CRN MSP 500 Elite 150 (2026) — the same Tier 1 recognition as Ntiva, reflecting genuine market standing
  • Cyber insurance alignment services and MDR through a 24/7 SOC, which maps directly to what cyber insurance underwriters require before binding coverage

Limitations

  • No Clutch reviews and an unclaimed profile — the most significant credibility gap for buyers using Clutch as a vetting tool. The penalty this applies under our methodology is the primary reason Logically scores lower than their awards and operational history would otherwise support
  • No dedicated insurance vertical service page; the insurance positioning is case-study-level, not practice-level

Best For

Mid-market companies in regulated industries who want a cyber-first provider with documented national delivery and don’t weight Clutch verification heavily in their selection process.

Not Ideal For

Buyers who rely on Clutch reviews as a primary vetting signal, or agencies needing explicit AMS support and NAIC compliance documentation built into the service scope.

Why They Rank #4

Twenty-six years in operation and a CRN Elite 150 placement would score higher in many categories. The unclaimed Clutch profile creates a verifiable credibility gap that the Trust Score model reflects. Logically is a stronger provider than their score suggests — the gap closes the moment they engage their Clutch profile.

Velo IT Group insurance agency IT support Dallas homepage

Velo IT Group has focused on independent insurance agencies since 2006 and built their practice around the specific workflow and software reality of producer-driven businesses. They work with agencies of 50–100 users and have a dedicated insurance page that names Applied Epic, HawkSoft, and QQCatalyst by name.

Key Strengths

  • Dedicated insurance agencies service page with explicit AMS support (Applied Epic, HawkSoft, QQCatalyst, Vertafore), compliance framing around GLBA and NAIC, and carrier portal connectivity positioning
  • Inc. 5000 #140 and CRN Pioneer 250 MSP 500 recognition — strong growth signals for a regional firm
  • The Velo Method: a proprietary service model where the firm’s compensation structure is tied to eliminating IT issues, not generating tickets — an unusual incentive alignment for agencies that pay per incident elsewhere
  • Headquartered in Dallas with Louisiana locations; their service footprint is specific, which actually helps agencies operating in those markets

Limitations

  • No verified Clutch reviews. Similar to Logically, this creates a measurable credibility gap under the Trust Score model
  • Regional scope is primarily Texas and Louisiana, with limited documented reach beyond those markets. National agencies with offices in multiple states will likely outgrow Velo’s geographic density

Best For

Independent insurance agencies in Texas and Louisiana with 50–100 employees that want a provider who already speaks AMS and doesn’t need to be educated on producer workflows.

Not Ideal For

National carriers, multi-state managing general agencies, or firms with complex compliance frameworks across multiple jurisdictions.

Why They Rank #5

Velo’s insurance-specific positioning is among the most detailed on this list. The limitation is geographic concentration and a Clutch profile with no reviews, which limits our ability to independently verify client satisfaction. Within their target market, they’d rank higher.

mPowered IT insurance agency managed services Atlanta homepage

mPowered IT was founded specifically to serve small businesses, medical practices, and insurance agencies. At under 10 employees, they’re the smallest firm here. That’s a real limitation for scale. It’s also why their AMS knowledge is as deep as it is.

Key Strengths

  • Deep agency management system expertise spanning Applied Epic, AMS360, EZLynx, HawkSoft, and NowCerts — the kind of working knowledge that comes from running those systems with real insurance clients, not reading product documentation
  • 5 Clutch reviews with verified client feedback; one confirmed medical practice client describes zero PHI breaches and fast helpdesk response over a multi-year engagement
  • Dedicated insurance agency IT page with explicit NAIC cybersecurity compliance, document management, and carrier connectivity positioning
  • 15-minute response time guarantee and 24/7/365 proactive monitoring — notable commitments from a firm small enough to deliver on them personally

Limitations

  • 1–10 employees: this is the team size. An agency with complex needs or a significant incident may feel the bench depth constraint during escalations
  • No Cloudtango MSP Select recognition; regional award profile only
  • Founded 2014, the second-youngest firm on this list at 11 years of operation

Best For

Small independent agencies (5–20 employees) in the Atlanta metro or nearby Southeast markets that need AMS-fluent support and want a primary contact who knows their account by name, not by ticket number.

Not Ideal For

Any agency with 100+ employees, multi-state operations, or a CISO requirement. mPowered IT is an excellent SMB provider. They’re not built for enterprise-scale compliance programs.

Why They Rank #6

The deepest AMS knowledge on this list lives here. The score reflects what independent research can verify: five reviews and a strong specialization signal. For a small agency choosing between an AMS-agnostic national firm and a 10-person team that already knows Applied Epic, the choice isn’t obvious.

How to Choose an MSP for Your Insurance Company

Start with what your regulators actually require, then narrow by firm size and geography.

Start with compliance. If your state has adopted the NAIC Model Cybersecurity Law, you need a Written Information Security Program, a documented risk assessment, and an incident response plan with a 72-hour notification workflow. That’s not a feature — it’s a baseline. Any provider that can’t describe how they build those documents in the first discovery call isn’t ready for your account.

Small agencies (under 30 employees): the AMS support question matters most. Your agency management system runs your business. If the MSP has never seen Applied Epic or AMS360 in production, you’ll spend months onboarding them. mPowered IT (in the Atlanta metro) and CompassMSP have the most documented AMS fluency on this list; Velo IT Group is the specialist for Dallas and Louisiana agencies.

Mid-market agencies (30–200 employees): review volume and vCIO/vCISO access become the differentiators. Dataprise and Ntiva have both, with Clutch review counts that let you read what clients actually say about long-term partnerships, not just initial onboarding. Dataprise runs slightly ahead on tenure and review depth; Ntiva runs ahead on national award recognition.

Enterprise and multi-state operations: the picture changes when you’re managing multiple office locations and multiple state DOI filings. You need documented compliance workflows, not just compliance awareness. CompassMSP and Ntiva both document cross-state and multi-framework practice explicitly.

One question to ask every candidate: how would you handle a breach notification under our state’s insurance cybersecurity law? A compliance-ready provider will describe a specific 72-hour workflow, documented runbooks, and a named point of contact for commissioner communication. A generalist will describe standard incident response.

The Bottom Line

Dataprise earns the top spot based on what independent research can confirm: the longest operational history on this list, the highest Clutch review volume, Cloudtango Select recognition, and 14 consecutive Channel Futures MSP 501 placements. For mid-market insurance companies and regulated firms, that credibility stack is hard to match.

If NAIC compliance depth is your primary selection criterion, CompassMSP belongs on your shortlist alongside Dataprise. Their insurance-specific practice is more explicitly built out; they just have fewer independent reviews to support it. For agencies that weight strategic IT leadership and national award recognition above all else, Ntiva at #2 is the right conversation to start.

Common Questions About IT Services for Insurance Companies

Not necessarily, but the learning curve is real and your agency pays for it. Insurance companies operate on AMS platforms (Applied Epic, AMS360, EZLynx) that behave differently from general business software, carry NAIC Model Law and GLBA compliance requirements that most generalist MSPs haven’t mapped before, and handle nonpublic personal information in ways that create specific audit exposure. A generalist can learn all of this. A specialist already has. For most agencies, the question is whether they can afford the onboarding time.
Short answer: it’s the insurance industry’s equivalent of HIPAA, and more than 20 states have adopted it as of 2026. The NAIC Insurance Data Security Model Law (Model #668) requires licensed insurers and agencies to maintain a Written Information Security Program, conduct annual risk assessments, implement specific technical controls, and notify regulators within 72 hours of certain cybersecurity events. An MSP that can’t help you build and document those programs leaves a compliance gap that your state Department of Insurance will eventually surface. The carriers auditing your cyber insurance renewal are asking for the same documentation.
Three signals matter. First, review count: the more verified reviews, the more client relationships you can read. Second, industry context in the reviews: look for keywords like “compliance,” “audit,” “regulated,” or “financial services” in the review text, which signals clients with needs close to yours. Third, the review narrative for weaknesses: a provider with 30 reviews and no critical feedback is either exceptional or not collecting candid input. Real long-term clients describe both what works and what doesn’t.
Sometimes, and it depends entirely on the provider. mPowered IT is small (under 10 employees) and has more insurance-specific AMS knowledge than most larger firms. Size matters most when you’re asking about bench depth for escalations, CISO-level strategy, and after-hours support coverage. A 10-person shop may have the regulatory knowledge but run thin during a major incident or when key staff are unavailable. Evaluate both the knowledge and the capacity.
For most ongoing managed IT work, remote support handles 80–90% of issues. The exception is hardware failures, major office moves, and on-site training. For insurance agencies with field agents using laptops and mobile devices across multiple locations, a provider with regional engineers who can show up matters more than for a single-office firm. Ntiva and Dataprise both operate regional delivery models, and Velo IT Group’s Texas and Louisiana footprint is a genuine advantage for agencies in those markets.
