Best MSPs for Healthcare in Toledo, OH (2026)

Juan Alba, IT Research Analyst · Last updated: July 15, 2026 · No paid placements
CNWR tops our ranking of healthcare IT providers in Toledo with the strongest Google reputation in the market and a 2025 GTIA Cybersecurity Leadership Award. DMC Technology Group brings over 30 years of local presence. Arakyta, which acquired Toledo-based RenTech’s healthcare IT practice in October 2025, rounds out the top three. Rankings use the itreviews.co Trust Score methodology.

Quick Picks

  • Best Overall: CNWR
  • Best for Healthcare Specialization: Arakyta
  • Best for Long-Tenured Toledo Partnership: DMC Technology Group
  • Best for SMB Medical Practices: Nemsys

Toledo’s healthcare sector runs deeper than most mid-size Ohio cities. ProMedica, Mercy Health, and the University of Toledo Medical Center collectively employ thousands and anchor a broader network of independent clinics, dental groups, behavioral health organizations, and specialty practices. Every one of them runs on IT infrastructure. Every one of them is a target.

Healthcare data breaches cost more than in any other industry. IBM’s 2025 Cost of a Data Breach Report puts the average healthcare breach at $7.42 million in the U.S., a position healthcare has held for 14 consecutive years. That’s the cost of picking the wrong IT partner.

These five providers were evaluated using the itreviews.co Trust Score methodology, a six-factor independent scoring model. No provider paid for placement. The highest score ranks first. All five were confirmed operating in Toledo with verified local addresses.

How We Ranked These MSPs

Each provider was scored across six independently researched criteria. Verified reviews across Google, Clutch, and Cloudtango carry the most weight at 35% combined. Industry awards follow at 20%. Years in business gets 15%, because MSP longevity in a single market is a real signal. Physical presence, healthcare specialization, and documented service breadth each account for 10%.

No provider submits their own data. Every factor comes from independent research and Apify-verified Google Maps data. If a provider lists healthcare as a vertical without any HIPAA documentation behind it, that’s reflected in a lower specialization score. Showing up in a checkbox doesn’t count.

With 29 Google reviews averaging 4.9 stars and a GTIA Cybersecurity Leadership Award to its name, CNWR sits at the top of this list on data, not marketing. It’s the only Toledo MSP in our research to earn a nationally recognized cybersecurity award, and the review scores confirm the reputation in practice.

Key Strengths

  • Google rating of 4.9/5 across 29 reviews — the highest verified review signal of any MSP in this market. On a logarithmic scale, 29 reviews represents real client mobilization for a local B2B provider.
  • GTIA Cybersecurity Leadership Award (2025), recognizing president Jason Slagle for proactive security frameworks. Named awards from independent industry bodies carry more weight than self-described credentials.
  • HIPAA, PCI, and compliance management documented on the cybersecurity service page, with explicit references to EHR software support and medical clinic network infrastructure throughout.
  • Over 22 years in Toledo, with a full co-managed IT offering for clinics that have internal staff but need compliance backup or a specific gap filled.
  • Named healthcare client testimonial on file (Dr. Christine Ravary, DVM, Temperance Animal Hospital) confirming actual work in medical environments.

Limitations

  • No Clutch profile with reviews. Buyers who rely on Clutch’s verified client interview process as a due diligence step won’t find that data point here.
  • Healthcare compliance references are embedded across service pages rather than consolidated into a dedicated HIPAA vertical page that buyers can reference quickly.
  • Best suited to smaller healthcare operations. Large multi-facility health systems with enterprise infrastructure requirements would likely need a provider operating at a different scale.

Best For

Independent medical practices, dental groups, and specialty clinics in the Toledo area looking for a locally rooted MSP with strong cybersecurity credentials and a verified client track record.

Not Ideal For

Large health systems or buyers who require Clutch-verified client references as part of their vendor evaluation process.

Why They Rank #1

CNWR earns the top spot because they combine the market’s best verified review signal with a named cybersecurity award and documented healthcare compliance support. The 4.9 Google rating across 29 reviews tells you something real about client experience. The GTIA award signals the security posture isn’t just claimed. For a Toledo-area clinic evaluating local MSPs, that combination is hard to find.

DMC has operated in Toledo since 1993 and has been a Microsoft Gold Partner for over a decade. Not many MSPs in any market can make that combination credibly. For healthcare practices running Microsoft-heavy infrastructure, that pedigree matters.

Key Strengths

  • Founded in 1993. Thirty-three years in the same market is a real longevity signal, especially in an industry where MSP consolidation is constant.
  • Microsoft Gold Partner status for 10+ years, well-documented across third-party profiles including Cloudtango and InfoMSP. Strong fit for clinics running Azure, Microsoft 365, or IBM Power i environments.
  • Healthcare listed as an explicit named industry vertical, alongside manufacturing, government, and education, across multiple third-party directories and the DMC website.
  • 4.5 Google rating across 8 reviews. Volume is lighter than CNWR, but the rating is consistent.

Limitations

  • No dedicated HIPAA compliance page. Healthcare is listed as a vertical, but the documentation behind it is thinner than what Arakyta publishes on compliance frameworks.
  • No Clutch profile with reviews, which limits independent verification of client experience.
  • IBM Power i capability adds depth for some clients but isn’t relevant to most small medical practices evaluating a first MSP.

Best For

Mid-size Toledo healthcare organizations already running Microsoft or IBM infrastructure who want a long-tenured local partner with enterprise-grade certifications.

Not Ideal For

Clinics specifically looking for published HIPAA compliance frameworks or a dedicated healthcare vertical page before signing.

Why They Rank #2

DMC’s decades-long track record in Toledo and Microsoft Gold Partner status give it real credibility signals in a market where tenure is rare. The trade-off is a lighter compliance documentation footprint than a healthcare buyer probably wants to see. Still a strong second option, particularly for practices already running Microsoft infrastructure.

Arakyta managed IT and HIPAA compliance Toledo Ohio homepage

In October 2025, Arakyta acquired RenTech, a Toledo-based IT firm specializing in HIPAA-compliant backup, dental practice IT, and healthcare compliance technology. That acquisition brought roughly 120 client organizations across Ohio and Michigan into Arakyta’s book of business, along with RenTech’s founding CTO Jon Kolmar and the institutional knowledge behind their healthcare practice.

Key Strengths

  • The RenTech acquisition brought documented HIPAA-compliant backup, server virtualization, and dedicated dental and healthcare IT support into Arakyta’s service set. This isn’t a claimed specialty — it was purchased with a team and a client base attached.
  • yCompliance product: a dedicated compliance management offering covering HIPAA and NIST frameworks. One of the only Toledo MSPs with a named compliance product rather than checkbox language.
  • Founded in 2004 with a downtown Toledo office on N Erie St. CEO Dennis Schroder is publicly named, and the executive team is visible with the addition of Jon Kolmar as CTO from the RenTech deal.
  • Blog content includes substantive HIPAA guidance covering AES-256 encryption requirements, Business Associate Agreement specifics, and MIPS consulting. The published depth is higher than most regional competitors.

Limitations

  • Google review count is the lowest of the top three at 6 reviews with a 4.3 rating. The RenTech acquisition may consolidate reviews over time, but right now the public signal is thin.
  • No Clutch reviews despite having a profile. For buyers who weight third-party interview-style reviews heavily, that’s a gap.
  • The acquisition closed in late 2025. Buyers should confirm RenTech client continuity and team integration before signing.

Best For

Dental practices, behavioral health clinics, and small medical offices specifically looking for documented HIPAA compliance management and a provider with dedicated healthcare IT experience.

Not Ideal For

Buyers who need a long, established Google review track record or Clutch-verified client references before committing to an MSP.

Why They Rank #3

Arakyta earns the healthcare specialization edge over everyone else on this list through the yCompliance product and the RenTech acquisition together. Those two things represent the only documented, purpose-built healthcare IT capability in Toledo that goes beyond a checkbox. The thin public review count holds back the score. For a healthcare buyer who wants compliance depth, Arakyta deserves a serious look.

Founded in 1999 by Drew McCallum and Matt Nachtrab, Nemsys recently moved into a renovated facility at 902 N Superior St in downtown Toledo after 25 years of operation. CEO Brandon Ruiz, who joined in 2023, leads a team of about 27 employees. Healthcare is a named industry vertical on their website and LinkedIn.

Key Strengths

  • Founded in 1999 — 26 years of Toledo tenure, confirmed across multiple press sources and their own anniversary announcement. That kind of market continuity is genuinely rare.
  • 24/7 SOC and EDR coverage are both documented on the website, not just listed. The cybersecurity posture is stronger than the review volume suggests.
  • Physical access control and AI-integrated security camera systems included in the service mix — relevant for clinics with HIPAA obligations around physical PHI access.
  • Google rating of 4.4 across 17 reviews. A healthy volume for a Toledo MSP of this size.

Limitations

  • No dedicated HIPAA documentation page in research. Healthcare is listed as a vertical but not supported with compliance methodology.
  • No Clutch profile or confirmed industry awards, limiting third-party credibility signals.
  • The proprietary Connect platform is mentioned on the website but not deeply documented, making it harder to evaluate without a direct conversation.

Best For

Small to mid-size Toledo medical practices that want a long-established local partner with a solid cybersecurity stack and a consistent review history.

Not Ideal For

Practices that need documented HIPAA compliance frameworks or a provider with published industry recognition before signing.

Why They Rank #4

Nemsys pairs 26 years of Toledo tenure with a genuinely stronger cybersecurity posture than the review volume alone would suggest — documented 24/7 SOC and EDR coverage plus physical access control relevant to PHI. What holds them back is the absence of any dedicated HIPAA documentation or third-party award recognition next to the providers ranked above them.

CDS EK Computer managed IT Toledo Ohio homepage

CDS has operated in Toledo since 1986 under the Comprehensive Data Services name, now continuing as EK Computer at the same 7862 Central Ave E address. Forty years in one market is a stability signal. It’s also the lightest healthcare documentation on this list.

Key Strengths

  • Founded in 1986 — the longest-tenured MSP on this list by a significant margin.
  • IT Vigilance Managed Support Program is a named, described product with real specifics around proactive monitoring and disaster recovery, not just bullet points.
  • Flat monthly fee model, which appeals to small practices that want predictable IT spend without negotiating scope changes every quarter.
  • Google profile returned a 5.0 rating in research. With 1 confirmed review, that figure should be treated as preliminary rather than a settled signal.

Limitations

  • No documented healthcare specialization. No HIPAA page, no compliance framework references, no named healthcare clients in any publicly available content.
  • One confirmed Google review is too thin a sample to draw conclusions from the 5.0 rating.
  • No Clutch presence, no industry awards, and lighter service breadth documentation than the providers ranked above.

Best For

Very small Toledo practices or professional offices that want a local, long-established IT firm with a simple flat-fee managed support model, and aren’t prioritizing documented HIPAA compliance.

Not Ideal For

Any healthcare practice with active PHI handling that needs documented compliance frameworks from their MSP.

Why They Rank #5

CDS is the entry-level option on this list. Forty years of Toledo tenure and a flat-fee model are real assets for a very small practice, but the near-total absence of documented healthcare specialization and third-party review volume is what the scoring model penalizes most.

How to Choose an MSP for Your Toledo Healthcare Practice

Start with your compliance posture, not your budget.

If your practice handles patient health information, your MSP relationship triggers a Business Associate Agreement obligation under HIPAA rules enforced by HHS Office for Civil Rights. That means the MSP needs to understand what a BAA actually requires, not just agree to sign one. Ask any provider you’re evaluating to walk through their HIPAA risk assessment process before you discuss pricing. If they can’t explain it specifically, that tells you something.

For solo practices and small group practices in Toledo: CNWR, Nemsys, or CDS all serve this size reasonably well. CNWR if compliance documentation and cybersecurity credentials matter most. CDS if you want the simplest, most established local option with a flat monthly fee. Nemsys if you want more review history and a stronger documented security stack than CDS offers.

For dental practices and clinics with EHR dependencies: Arakyta’s acquisition of RenTech makes it the most relevant option. RenTech built its reputation specifically on HIPAA-compliant backup and dental IT. That institutional knowledge transferred when the deal closed.

For practices already running Microsoft infrastructure: DMC Technology Group’s 30-year Microsoft partnership gives it an edge if your environment is Azure or Microsoft 365-heavy and you want a partner with certified depth in that ecosystem. A couple of questions that separate strong healthcare MSPs from generic ones: Does the provider carry cyber liability insurance? Can they produce a sample BAA on request before you sign an engagement? Have they actually supported EHR system integration, or do they just say they can? The answers reveal more than any sales presentation will.

CNWR earns the top spot in Toledo’s healthcare MSP market by combining the strongest verified review signal locally with a named cybersecurity award and documented compliance support. For most Toledo-area clinics, they’re the default first call.

If HIPAA documentation depth matters more than review volume, Arakyta is worth the conversation, particularly for dental practices and behavioral health organizations where the RenTech acquisition brings real institutional healthcare knowledge. DMC Technology Group remains the right choice for practices with long-standing Microsoft infrastructure and a preference for a multi-decade Toledo partner.

Things Healthcare Buyers Actually Ask

More than most providers make it sound. Real HIPAA compliance for an MSP means a signed Business Associate Agreement, documented security risk assessments, AES-256 encryption for data at rest and in transit, a breach notification process that meets HHS Office for Civil Rights timelines, and staff trained on PHI handling requirements. Ask any provider to walk through their BAA before you discuss anything else. If they can’t be specific, that’s the answer.
$100 to $250 per user per month covers fully managed services in this market. Healthcare practices with active compliance requirements, EHR dependencies, or complex network segmentation typically land at the higher end. The compliance overhead is real. An MSP quoting at the low end without accounting for HIPAA workload is probably not pricing it in.
Clutch’s review process requires verified phone interviews with real clients, which takes coordination on both sides. Regional SMB-focused MSPs often don’t prioritize it. That doesn’t make a provider bad; it means the review signal is thinner. Our methodology applies a credibility penalty for missing Clutch data, which is why Google reviews carry more comparative weight in this market. None of the five providers here have Clutch reviews.
Not if there’s no internal IT staff. Co-managed IT is designed for practices that already have someone handling day-to-day support who needs help with specific gaps — security monitoring, compliance, cloud migrations. If it’s you and your office manager keeping the computers running, a fully managed MSP relationship makes more sense.
Remote support handles most day-to-day issues. Where local presence matters is on-site response: EHR system failures, networked medical devices, physical access control, hardware that needs hands in the building. All five providers on this list have confirmed Toledo addresses from verified Google Maps data. That matters when something breaks at 7am before clinic opens.
