Best MSPs for Healthcare in Houston (2026)

Kate Larsen, IT Research Analyst · Last updated: June 8, 2026 · No paid placements
Uprite Services ranks #1 among Houston healthcare MSPs in 2026 based on its dedicated Uprite Med℠ program, six consecutive Channel Futures MSP 501 listings, and verified review presence across Clutch and Google. Centre Technologies (#2) brings the strongest awards stack and multi-site scale. Braintek (#3) leads on local review volume with 355 verified Google reviews in the Texas Medical Center corridor. Rankings use the itreviews.co Trust Score, six independently researched criteria applied identically to every provider.

Quick Picks

  • Best Overall: Uprite Services (9.0/10)
  • Best for Multi-Site Practices & Hospital Systems: Centre Technologies (8.4/10)
  • Best for Texas Medical Center & Metro Clinics: Braintek (6.8/10)
  • Best for Healthcare-Native Compliance Depth: TrueNorth ITG (4.9/10)
  • Best for Dental, Veterinary & Optometry Practices: Chimera IT Solutions (5.4/10)

If you run a medical practice, surgical center, or multi-site clinic in Houston, picking the wrong IT provider is the most expensive mistake you can make twice. Once on the contract. Again on the breach. Healthcare data is the most-targeted vertical in the country, and the Houston Methodist, MD Anderson, and Texas Medical Center corridor has made this metro a magnet for both legitimate health-IT vendors and the threat actors who hunt them. In 2025 alone, the HHS Office for Civil Rights logged 642 healthcare data breaches affecting 500 or more individuals, exposing roughly 57 million patient records, and closed the year with the second-highest annual total of HIPAA financial penalties on record. A managed services provider is not a luxury. It’s part of your compliance perimeter.

This list ranks the seven strongest MSPs for healthcare in Houston using the itreviews.co Trust Score — six independently researched criteria applied identically to every provider. No provider paid for placement. No provider submitted their own data. Rankings reflect scores.

Editorial disclosure. itreviews.co’s parent operating entity has a separate, unrelated commercial relationship with Uprite Services. Trust Scores are calculated identically for every provider on this list. Uprite’s #1 position reflects published review data, six consecutive MSP 501 listings (2020–2025), 27 years in business, and the dedicated Uprite Med℠ healthcare program. Excluding Uprite from this analysis places Centre Technologies at #1 by the same methodology.

How We Ranked These Healthcare MSPs

Trust Score Factors — Best MSPs for Healthcare in Houston

35%
Review ScoreClutch (verified phone-interview reviews), Google (volume signal), and Cloudtango (IT-specific platform). A missing Clutch profile triggers a penalty, because Clutch verification requires real clients to complete a structured phone interview — absence is a credibility signal, not a neutral data gap.
20%
Industry AwardsTier 1 sources like Channel Futures MSP 501, CRN MSP 500, Inc. 5000, and Cloudtango MSP Select. Self-described “award-winning” without a named, verifiable award doesn’t count.
15%
Years in BusinessLongevity in managed IT is a real stability signal — building a profitable MSP book takes a decade or more. Triangulated against website, LinkedIn, and domain registration.
10%
Industry SpecializationDedicated healthcare service pages, documented HIPAA and HITECH methodology, named EHR support (Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, NextGen, eClinicalWorks), case studies, and BAA workflows. A bullet that says “we serve healthcare” without a vertical page doesn’t move the needle.
10%
Physical PresenceA real office address, a verified Google Business Profile, named local engineers, and consistency between the claimed service area and documented offices. A virtual office or registered-agent address in Houston is not a Houston operation.
10%
Service BreadthThe full core stack (helpdesk, monitoring, endpoint, EDR/MDR, cloud, backup/DR, vCIO) plus depth on premium differentiators like SIEM, compliance-as-a-service, co-managed IT, and vCISO. Breadth without depth doesn’t score well.

A note on Texas. Houston healthcare MSPs need to understand both federal HIPAA and Texas House Bill 300 (the Texas Medical Records Privacy Act), which requires patient record access within 15 days of an electronic request (versus 30 under HIPAA), workforce training within 90 days of hire, and breach notification to the Texas Attorney General with penalties from $5,000 to $1.5 million per violation. The Top 7 Healthcare MSPs in Houston

1
Dedicated Healthcare Practice Plus the Longest Texas Track Record
9.0
out of 10
Trust Score
Uprite Services healthcare IT services in Houston — homepage

The Houston MSP most likely to already understand your EHR before you finish describing it. Uprite has spent 27 years building a Texas-only book of business and packaged its healthcare experience into Uprite Med℠, a named compliance and support program for medical practices and clinics.

Key Strengths

  • Uprite Med℠ is a packaged offering, not a bullet point — continuous HIPAA risk assessment, EHR support, and operationalized compliance against both federal HIPAA and the Texas Medical Privacy Act, which most generalist MSPs treat as the same thing
  • Sixth consecutive year on the Channel Futures MSP 501 list (#227 in 2025), plus CRN Pioneer 250 (2025) and ForzaDash MSP 555 (2025) — three Tier 1 awards from three different evaluators in the same year
  • Verified review presence on both major platforms: 5.0/5 on Clutch (11 reviews) and 4.9/5 on Google (52 reviews), with healthcare references visible in client testimonials
  • Houston headquarters at 5718 Westheimer Rd with named leadership (Stephen Sweeney, CEO)
  • The “Uprite Way” is a documented 28-principle service-delivery framework — the kind of operational maturity that separates a 25-year MSP from a 5-year one

Limitations

  • Mid-market sweet spot — practices over a few hundred endpoints or full hospital systems may benefit more from a provider with deeper national infrastructure
  • Healthcare is one of several verticals Uprite serves alongside legal, logistics, and trucking. For a healthcare-only provider, look at TrueNorth ITG
  • No published Cloudtango MSP Select recognition for 2025 or 2026 despite a listed profile

Best For

Mid-market Houston medical practices, surgical centers, dental groups, and multi-location clinics that want a packaged healthcare program plus broad MSP capability under one contract.

Not Ideal For

Practices that want a fully healthcare-exclusive provider with zero non-healthcare clients, or hospital systems that need a national MSP footprint.

Why They Rank #1

Three things separate Uprite from the rest of this list. They’ve actually built a healthcare-specific program (Uprite Med℠) rather than tacked HIPAA onto a generic page. They’ve earned three Tier 1 awards in the same year, which is a financial-performance signal more than a marketing one. And they have verified review presence on the platforms that matter most for healthcare buyers doing diligence — the credibility gap that drags TrueNorth and Chimera down despite their strong healthcare focus.

2
Multi-Site Scale and the Strongest Awards Stack
8.4
out of 10
Trust Score
Centre Technologies managed IT services in Houston — homepage

The provider on this list with the most enterprise-grade infrastructure. Centre runs a 24×7 Security Operations Center, holds multiple CRN-tier designations, and has acquired its way into healthcare-adjacent capabilities through deals like RITC (2015, healthcare cloud) and Texas Systems Group (2022, healthcare practices).

Key Strengths

  • The awards stack is unmatched in this set: Cloudtango MSP Select 2025 and 2026, CRN MSP 500 Elite 150 (2025), CRN Tech Elite 250 (2026), CRN Fast Growth 150 (third time in 2025), Channel Futures MSP 501 #155 (2025), and Houston Business Journal’s 3rd-largest area cybersecurity company (2022)
  • Multi-site scale — five offices across Texas and Oklahoma (Houston HQ, Richardson, Austin, San Antonio, Tulsa), 200-plus employees
  • A 24×7 Security Operations Center with Managed Detection and Response, Managed Vulnerability Scanning, and SIEM — not common in Houston-area MSPs at this scale
  • Four documented acquisitions since 2015, including healthcare-cloud specialist RITC and Texas Systems Group (which served emergency centers and healthcare practices in Austin)

Limitations

  • Healthcare is one of many verticals; their public positioning leads with cybersecurity and Texas-wide IT, not healthcare specifically
  • No public Clutch reviews despite a verified company profile — an unusual gap for a $57M MSP with two decades of operation
  • Pricing tier likely above small-clinic budgets; the enterprise-grade SOC and full SIEM/MDR/MVS stack costs accordingly

Best For

Multi-site healthcare organizations, hospital systems, surgical-center networks, and any healthcare buyer who needs SOC-backed cybersecurity as part of the MSP contract.

Not Ideal For

Single-location private practices on tight budgets, or buyers who specifically want a healthcare-exclusive provider.

Why They Rank #2

Awards aren’t everything, but they’re a stronger reliability signal than most buyers give them credit for. Centre’s stack of independent recognitions, multi-state footprint, and SOC-backed security model is genuinely strong for the Texas regional MSP market. They lose ground only on healthcare-vertical positioning and the missing Clutch review presence, both of which would push them into striking distance of #1 if addressed.

3
Texas Medical Center Coverage and the Highest Verified Review Volume
6.8
out of 10
Trust Score
Braintek healthcare IT services in Houston — homepage

23 years of Spring, Texas operation. A dedicated Texas Medical Center service area page. And 355 verified Google reviews, which is more than every other provider on this list combined. Braintek isn’t the largest or the most awarded MSP in Houston. They’re arguably the most visible to the clinics that work near TMC.

Key Strengths

  • 355 Google reviews at a 4.9/5 average — review density that signals a high SMB client count and high client mobilization, a credibility floor most peers can’t match
  • Dedicated Texas Medical Center service area page, plus coverage across Spring, The Woodlands, Conroe, Cypress, Humble, Kingwood, and Tomball — mapping directly to small-to-mid medical practices in northwest Houston
  • Documented support for eClinicalWorks, Athenahealth, and Dentrix — three of the most-used EHR and dental practice platforms named on a single healthcare page
  • Flat monthly pricing with unlimited remote and helpdesk support plus in-person on-site visits — pricing predictability that matters for a small clinic

Limitations

  • No Clutch reviews — the profile exists but contains no published client interviews, weakening the cross-platform review signal healthcare buyers increasingly want
  • No major industry awards — no MSP 501 listing, no CRN MSP 500; credibility comes almost entirely from local review volume and tenure
  • Headquartered in Spring, not Houston proper — practices in the southwest medical corridor may want a more central office

Best For

Small-to-mid medical practices, dental clinics, and specialty practices in the Texas Medical Center, northwest Houston metro, and Spring/Woodlands corridor that want responsive local IT with predictable flat-fee pricing.

Not Ideal For

Large hospital systems, buyers who require named Tier 1 industry awards, or practices outside the northwest Houston coverage area.

Why They Rank #3

Local review density is a real credibility signal, and Braintek’s is exceptional for an MSP at their scale. The Texas Medical Center service area page tells you who they actually serve, not who they wish they served. The awards gap and missing Clutch profile keep them out of the top two, but for a TMC-adjacent clinic comparing options, Braintek is the most defensible local pick.

4
HoustonTech
Documented EHR Coverage Across Major Platforms
6.6
out of 10
Trust Score
HoustonTech healthcare IT services in Houston — homepage

A Houston-headquartered MSP with named support for Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, and eClinicalWorks. Healthcare isn’t their only vertical (they also serve CPAs, law firms, and credit unions), but the EHR-specific documentation is thicker than most generalist MSPs put on the page.

Key Strengths

  • Names four major EHR platforms explicitly — Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, and eClinicalWorks. Most Houston MSPs say “we support your EHR;” HoustonTech says which ones
  • Explicit compliance posture against HIPAA, HITECH, and Texas Medical Board standards — few MSPs reference the Texas Medical Board on their healthcare page
  • Verified Houston Business Profile at 11224 Southwest Fwy with 4.8/5 across 26 Google reviews — real local presence in southwest Houston
  • 18 years in business, founded 2008 — mature enough to have institutional process

Limitations

  • A single Clutch review, even at 5.0/5, is a thin verification floor; buyers doing diligence will want more cross-platform data
  • No Tier 1 industry awards — no MSP 501, no CRN MSP 500, no Cloudtango MSP Select
  • Multi-vertical positioning (CPAs, lawyers, doctors, credit unions, oil and gas, manufacturing) — healthcare-only buyers may want a deeper specialist

Best For

Small-to-mid Houston medical practices that use Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks and want a multi-vertical MSP that can support adjacent business systems too.

Not Ideal For

Healthcare buyers who require substantial third-party industry recognition, or practices that want deep Clutch-verified review history.

Why They Rank #4

HoustonTech does the EHR documentation work most competitors skip, but they haven’t built the third-party credibility scaffolding that the top three providers have. A solid pick for the right buyer; less defensible if your procurement process weights industry awards or independent review volume heavily.

5
LayerLogix
Perfect Ratings on Two Platforms, Limited Tenure
6.5
out of 10
Trust Score
LayerLogix healthcare IT services in The Woodlands — homepage

Founded in 2014 by Donovan Brown and headquartered in The Woodlands, LayerLogix has built a clean review record on both Clutch and Google with explicit healthcare positioning, including documented BAA workflows and medical device security.

Key Strengths

  • 5.0/5 average on both Clutch (10 reviews) and Google (30 reviews) — rating consistency across two independent platforms is harder to engineer than volume on one
  • Documented support for Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, and eClinicalWorks, plus an explicit BAA documentation workflow — not every MSP puts BAA process in writing
  • Medical device security and IoMT (Internet of Medical Things) coverage named on the healthcare page — most Houston MSPs ignore this entirely
  • Verified Google Business Profile at 2001 Timberloch Pl, Suite 551R, The Woodlands

Limitations

  • 12 years in business — less operational tenure than the providers above; not a deal-breaker, but it shows up in the score
  • No Tier 1 industry awards — no MSP 501 listing, no CRN MSP 500, no Cloudtango MSP Select
  • Geographic ambiguity — the Clutch profile lists Round Rock, TX while the healthcare marketing positions them in Houston/The Woodlands

Best For

Newer healthcare practices in The Woodlands or northwest Houston that prioritize platform-verified review consistency and named EHR coverage over deep operational tenure.

Not Ideal For

Practices that want a provider with 20-plus years of Houston operation, or buyers who weight industry-association awards heavily.

Why They Rank #5

Strong review-platform performance carries them into the upper half, but the combination of limited tenure, geographic ambiguity, and a thin awards profile holds them back. For a practice manager building a shortlist, LayerLogix is worth a conversation if their EHR is named on the page.

6
Chimera IT Solutions
Healthcare-Exclusive Specialty Focus (formerly OverBytes)
5.4
out of 10
Trust Score
Chimera IT Solutions healthcare IT services in Katy — homepage

A family-owned, Katy-based IT provider that has rebranded from OverBytes to Chimera IT Solutions over the last year. Healthcare-exclusive across four specialty verticals — dental, medical, veterinary, and optometry. Both overbytes.com and chimera-it.com are currently active during the brand transition.

Key Strengths

  • Healthcare-exclusive positioning — every page is built around dental, medical, veterinary, or optometry clinic workflows, with no mixed-vertical noise
  • 10-plus years of dedicated healthcare IT experience per their own documentation, with named HIPAA and HITECH compliance services
  • 5.0/5 across 13 Google reviews — low volume but perfect rating consistency
  • Service area covers Houston, Katy, Sugar Land, Pearland, Cypress, and The Woodlands, plus specialty offerings like access control, in-wall AV for patient education, and clinic physical-security integration

Limitations

  • No Clutch profile — the platform healthcare buyers most often use for cross-vendor diligence shows zero presence
  • Recent brand transition from OverBytes; both domains still active, which may confuse new buyers about which entity they’re contracting with
  • No Tier 1 industry awards and no Cloudtango listing; a smaller, family-owned team not suited to a multi-location hospital system

Best For

Single-location dental, medical, veterinary, or optometry clinics in the Houston metro that want a healthcare-exclusive provider with personalized service.

Not Ideal For

Multi-site healthcare organizations, large practice groups, or any buyer who weights Clutch presence and named industry awards heavily.

Why They Rank #6

Healthcare-exclusive focus is genuinely valuable for a single-location dental or optometry clinic. The credibility floor is the issue: no Clutch, no awards, and an in-progress brand transition all show up in the score, fairly. Worth a look if you’re a small specialty clinic; worth pause if you’re anything larger.

7
TrueNorth ITG
Deepest Healthcare Specialization, Weakest Public Credibility Signals
4.9
out of 10
Trust Score
TrueNorth ITG healthcare IT services in The Woodlands — homepage

The provider on this list with the most authentic healthcare-native positioning. TrueNorth has been doing healthcare IT since 2001 and supports more EHR platforms by name than any other MSP profiled here, including Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, NextGen, GE Centricity, and Allscripts. They also serve ambulatory surgery centers, FQHCs, behavioral health providers, and regional hospitals. But the Trust Score model penalizes them heavily, and the reason is honest.

Key Strengths

  • 25 years of healthcare-focused IT operation — founded 2001 with explicit healthcare-vertical positioning from the start
  • Supports six named EHR platforms, including Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, NextGen, GE Centricity, and Allscripts — most MSPs name one or two
  • Tiered managed IT packages (trueGuidance, trueNavigate, trueCommand) designed around different healthcare operational maturities
  • Coverage spans ambulatory practices, surgery centers, FQHCs, behavioral health, regional hospitals, and specialty clinics — an unusual breadth of clinical environments

Limitations

  • No claimed Google Business Profile for the Houston-area office at 25700 I-45, The Woodlands (their Mill Creek, WA office has a verified GBP) — a credibility gap for a 25-year-old company in its primary metro
  • No Clutch profile — healthcare buyers who use Clutch for diligence will find nothing
  • No Tier 1 industry awards confirmed; listed on Cloudtango but no MSP Select recognition. Public review presence is the weakest in this set

Best For

Houston-area healthcare buyers, especially FQHCs and behavioral health providers, who can independently reference-check a provider through industry channels and don’t rely on Clutch or Google review signals for diligence.

Not Ideal For

Practice managers or office administrators who use third-party review platforms as a primary vetting tool. The signal is missing.

Why They Rank #7

This is the most counterintuitive ranking on the list, and the methodology is doing exactly what it’s supposed to. TrueNorth has the deepest healthcare specialization here, but they’ve left two of the three most important public credibility signals empty. A buyer who already knows TrueNorth or can reach references through an industry contact may find them an excellent fit. A buyer doing cold diligence has no platform to validate the claims, and the Trust Score reflects that more common experience.

How to Choose a Healthcare MSP in Houston

The right MSP depends on three things: practice size, EHR platform, and which compliance framework actually drives your risk model.

If you run a small-to-mid Houston practice (under 100 endpoints, one or two locations, mainstream EHR), the cleanest fits are Uprite Services, Braintek, and HoustonTech. All three have verified local presence, real review signals, and explicit healthcare documentation. Uprite wins on packaged healthcare program and award stack; Braintek on TMC-adjacent geography and Google review density; HoustonTech on named EHR breadth.

If you run a multi-site practice or a small hospital network, Centre Technologies is the most defensible pick. They have the SOC-backed security infrastructure, multi-state operation, and acquisitions history that most Houston MSPs simply don’t. The trade is on healthcare-vertical specialization — they serve healthcare, but they don’t lead with it.

If you run a specialty single-location clinic (dental, veterinary, optometry, dermatology), Chimera IT Solutions is purpose-built for your model. Their healthcare-exclusive positioning, smaller team, and specialty workflow understanding map directly to what a single-location practice needs — the credibility floor (missing Clutch and awards) is the consideration.

If you run an FQHC, behavioral health provider, ambulatory surgery center, or regional hospital where deep clinical-environment fluency matters more than public review signals, TrueNorth ITG warrants a conversation. Ask for direct client references and verify them through your industry network — their healthcare specialization is genuine, just under-documented on the public review platforms.

On price, none of these providers publish full pricing publicly, and any MSP that quotes a flat number without scoping your environment first is doing you a disservice. Expect Houston monthly managed IT to land around $125 to $250 per endpoint for a fully managed engagement with HIPAA workflow support, with co-managed models running lower per-endpoint but adding upfront implementation cost.

The compliance question deserves its own check. Federal HIPAA is table stakes; the Texas Medical Privacy Act is not. Ask about both, ask about Business Associate Agreement workflow specifically, and ask whether they conduct annual Security Rule risk assessments or only respond when one is requested. The answers sort the serious providers from the ones who added HIPAA as a bullet point.

Uprite Services ranks #1 among Houston healthcare MSPs in 2026 because they’ve packaged real healthcare experience into a named program (Uprite Med℠), backed it with three Tier 1 industry awards in the same year, and built verified review presence across the platforms healthcare buyers actually use for diligence. They aren’t the only defensible choice. At multi-site or hospital-network scale, Centre Technologies is a stronger fit on infrastructure and security depth. For a TMC-adjacent small practice that values local review density and flat-fee pricing, Braintek deserves the conversation first. And for a specialty single-location clinic where personalized service matters more than awards, Chimera IT Solutions is worth a look despite the missing review signals.

The Trust Score is a starting point, not a final answer. Pull the provider profiles, check the references, ask the compliance questions, and verify the EHR support claims against your specific platform.

What Houston Practice Managers Want to Know

The short answer is compliance workflow and EHR fluency. A healthcare MSP signs a Business Associate Agreement before any work begins, deploys infrastructure that meets HIPAA Security Rule technical safeguards, conducts annual risk assessments, documents breach notification procedures, and supports the specific electronic health record platform your practice runs on. A generalist IT shop may or may not do any of that, and “may not” is the legally expensive answer.
Usually. Sometimes not. The math depends on how you value risk. HHS OCR collected $8.33 million in HIPAA enforcement penalties in 2025 across just over 20 settlements, with the majority targeting risk analysis failures. A single OCR investigation, even one that ends in a corrective action plan rather than a fine, can cost a practice 200-plus staff hours and external counsel fees that exceed two years of MSP retainer. For a solo practitioner running a single workstation and printer, an MSP retainer may be overkill. For anything larger, the math usually pencils out.
Five things, in order. Do they sign a Business Associate Agreement before starting any work, in writing. Have they deployed HIPAA-compliant infrastructure for multiple comparable healthcare clients you can verify. Do they support your specific EHR platform by name on their public materials. Do they conduct annual Security Rule risk assessments as part of the standard engagement, not as a separate add-on. And can they describe their breach notification procedure including the Texas Attorney General reporting requirement without reading from a script. Most generalist MSPs miss two or three of those five.
Eight to twelve weeks for most practices. A discovery and audit phase runs two to three weeks, where the new MSP documents your environment, EHR integrations, vendor list, and current security posture. Implementation is four to six weeks, covering endpoint deployment, monitoring tool installation, backup configuration, and policy documentation. Stabilization and full handover takes another two to three weeks. Practices with well-documented IT can move faster; practices with sprawling on-premise infrastructure and undocumented integrations sometimes need four months.
A handful of things. Texas HB 300 requires patient record access within 15 days of an electronic request (HIPAA gives you 30), workforce training within 90 days of hire on protected health information handling, and Texas Attorney General notification for any breach affecting 250 or more Texas residents. Penalties can reach $1.5 million per violation depending on the nature of the breach. Your MSP should be operationalizing both frameworks together. If they treat them as the same thing, that’s a flag.
Move fast and document everything. Contain the incident, preserve evidence, launch your incident response team (which should already include your MSP, legal counsel, and a designated privacy officer), and determine within hours what data was exposed. Notify affected patients without unreasonable delay and within 60 days under both HIPAA and Texas law. For breaches affecting 500 or more individuals, notify HHS and major media outlets. A serious healthcare MSP rehearses this workflow before it happens — ask whether yours has run tabletop exercises in the last 12 months.
