Tacoma is a hospital town. MultiCare Health System has been headquartered here since 1882 and now runs eight hospitals across Washington, and Virginia Mason Franciscan Health operates a second network across Pierce County. That shapes the IT market in a way most buyers don’t notice until they’re shopping. The big systems run their own internal IT. Everyone else — the independent primary care groups, the dental practices, the behavioral health clinics, the ASCs, the imaging centers — buys from the same regional MSP pool that also serves construction firms and law offices.
So the question for a Tacoma practice manager isn’t “who does IT here.” It’s “who has actually configured a Dentrix server, sat through an OCR document request, and knows what happens when an imaging workstation drops off the network at 8:40 on a Monday.”
This guide ranks the seven strongest managed IT providers serving healthcare organizations in Tacoma and Pierce County. Every provider was independently researched and scored on six criteria. The methodology is published. No provider paid for a position on this list.
Review data was collected via Apify’s Google Maps scraper on July 24, 2026. Award records, office locations, and every healthcare capability claim on this page were re-verified against each provider’s own website before publication. Where a claim in the source research did not survive that check, it was corrected or dropped, and the correction is disclosed on the provider’s card.
How We Ranked These Tacoma Healthcare MSPs
Rankings come from the itreviews.co Trust Score. Six independently researched criteria, identical weights, applied the same way to every provider. No provider paid for placement. No provider submitted their own data.
Two factors do most of the separating on this page. Verified reviews carry 35% and pull from Clutch, Google, and Cloudtango, with rating and volume both counting on a logarithmic scale — a practice-focused MSP with 24 reviews isn’t less credible than a high-volume shop with 300. Industry specialization carries only 10%, but it is where this list diverges hardest from a general Tacoma MSP ranking. For a healthcare page we score healthcare evidence specifically: named EHR platforms, documented BAA processes, Security Risk Assessment methodology. Not a bullet that says “we serve medical.”
One thing worth flagging before you read further. The top four providers finish within 0.4 points of each other. That’s not a ranking with a runaway winner. That’s four capable firms with different strengths, and the tie-breakers below matter more than the order.

The Top 7 MSPs for Healthcare in Tacoma
Score Breakdown

Compass is what happens when a Kent-based Washington MSP with roots going back to 1977 gets absorbed into a national platform and keeps the local engineering bench. The compliance material they publish is the most advanced of anyone serving this market.
Key Strengths
- Published guidance connecting HIPAA and HITRUST, including where the control gaps sit between the two frameworks. Their healthcare page frames it precisely — HIPAA sets the regulatory baseline for protecting PHI, HITRUST gives you a certifiable framework for proving those safeguards actually work. Almost nobody at the regional level writes at that level of specificity.
- A #83 finish on the 2025 MSP 501, up 47 places from #130 the year before. We confirmed this directly against their own newsroom; it is the strongest verifiable award on this page.
- Named to CRN’s MSP 500 in the Pioneer 250 category for 2026, and to Cloudtango MSP Select 2026 for service delivery and customer satisfaction.
- 4.8 across 75 Google reviews on the Kent location, the second-largest verified review base on this list.
- Compliance coverage extends past HIPAA to HITRUST CSF, CMMC readiness, NIST, SOC 2 and CCPA under one practice. For a group carrying a research contract or a second regulatory obligation, that cross-framework depth matters.
- 24/7 support staffed in the United States, plus vCIO and SOC-backed detection and response.
Limitations
- No Pierce County office. Engineers come down from Kent, roughly 20 miles north.
- Healthcare is one practice area among several. Legal, financial services, construction, and manufacturing all get equal billing.
- Their healthcare page names no EHR or EMR platform — it refers to “EHR, EMR, practice management, billing, scheduling, telehealth and patient portal systems” generically. For platform-level assurance, inTech (#6) publishes far more.
- The BlackPoint IT merger closed in 2025 and operational consistency across the combined footprint is still shaking out. Ask who your named account team is and whether they’ve changed in the last twelve months.
How we resolved this provider’s award record
The source research for this page flagged CompassMSP’s awards as its single most consequential unverified item, on the grounds that if they failed to confirm, Attentus would take the #1 position. We checked. The MSP 501 #83 placement and Cloudtango MSP Select 2026 both confirm on CompassMSP’s own newsroom, and a third award the research missed entirely — CRN MSP 500 Pioneer 250 for 2026 — was found there as well. One claim did not survive: an Inc. 5000 (2024) listing we could not confirm anywhere, which is therefore not published above. The Awards sub-score of 9.0 stands on the three confirmed recognitions, and the #1 ranking is not in question. The research also credited Compass with a cross-framework compliance brand called “Secure Path” and with PCI and FINRA coverage; neither appears on their healthcare page, so neither is claimed here.Best For
Mid-market practices, multi-specialty groups, and healthcare organizations carrying a second compliance obligation alongside HIPAA.Not Ideal For
A four-provider clinic that wants its MSP’s whole identity built around medicine.Services
Industries
Why They Rank #1
CompassMSP scores highest because they clear the bar on every factor rather than dominating any single one. The awards are real, current, and independently confirmed. The review base is deep and recent. The compliance documentation goes further than anyone else at this level, and the service stack has genuine security depth behind it. What keeps the margin thin is geography. They’re a Seattle-metro firm serving Tacoma, and a practice that wants someone who can be on site in 20 minutes should look one row down.
Acquisition disclosure: BlackPoint IT Services, the Washington operating entity behind Compass in this market, merged with CompassMSP in 2025 and now operates under the CompassMSP brand.
Score Breakdown

Every other provider on this list serves Tacoma from somewhere else. Attentus has a Tacoma listing with 19 local reviews behind it, and a Pierce County support line on the front page of their website.
Key Strengths
- A perfect 5.0 rating across 79 Google reviews on the Renton headquarters, plus 5.0 across 19 more on the Tacoma location. That’s the strongest combined Google position on this list.
- A Tacoma office we confirmed on their own locations page at 748 Market Street in downtown Tacoma, alongside Renton, Seattle and Bellevue. Their published support number is a 253 Pierce County line.
- Three consecutive Inc. 5000 appearances (2023, 2024, 2025). Audited revenue growth, not a self-nominated badge.
- A dedicated HIPAA compliance service line, not a paragraph on an industries page — we verified it as a full standalone page covering Security Risk Assessments, PHI exposure reduction, EHR evaluation, audit preparation, and quarterly vCIO reviews scoped to HIPAA rules.
- Founded 2003 under leadership that’s still in place. CEO Charles Bender and CTO Dave Patton are both publicly named and active.
Limitations
- Their Clutch profile is live and carries zero published reviews. Clutch verification requires clients to sit for recorded interviews, and the absence of any is a real gap for a firm of this size.
- No MSP 501, no CRN MSP 500, no Cloudtango recognition. The Inc. 5000 streak is genuine but it measures growth, not service delivery.
- The Tacoma address is a suite number in a downtown office building, which raises a fair question about how much engineering capacity sits there versus in Renton. We could not resolve staffed-operation versus mail-suite from published sources. Worth asking directly.
Best For
Practices between 20 and 200 users that want a provider with people in Pierce County and a documented HIPAA program. Not Ideal For
Buyers whose vendor screening depends on verified third-party review platforms.Services
Offices
Why They Rank #2
They lose the top spot on awards and compliance documentation depth, and they win almost everything else. The Tacoma office and the HIPAA service line both survived verification, which is more than several higher-profile claims on this page managed. If that Tacoma suite turns out to be a staffed operation rather than a mail drop, most practices in this market should have Attentus on the shortlist regardless of where they finish on a score.
Score Breakdown

Four consecutive years on CRN’s MSP 500, capped by a Security 100 placement in 2025. In a market where most providers have no Tier 1 recognition at all, that’s the outlier.
Key Strengths
- Named to CRN’s MSP 500 four years running — Pioneer 250 in 2022, 2023 and 2024, then the Security 100 category in 2025, which recognizes MSPs focused primarily on cloud and off-premises security services. An earlier Pioneer 250 placement in 2019 makes five appearances in total.
- Cloudtango MSP Select USA 2026, extending a record that also covers 2022 and 2023.
- 5.0 across 46 Google reviews, with named healthcare clients visible in their published testimonials including the Washington Center for Bleeding Disorders.
- They brought in Compliancy Group specifically to run their HIPAA program rather than assembling one internally. That’s a smaller detail than it sounds, and it tells you they treat compliance as a discipline rather than a checkbox.
Limitations
- Tukwila is about 25 miles north of downtown Tacoma. They market to the Puget Sound broadly, and Tacoma is the southern edge of that radius.
- Only 2 published Clutch reviews. Same verification gap as several others here, just less severe.
- Their healthcare page reads older than their security material. HIPAA and HITECH get explained at a general level with no named EHR platforms and no named client case study.
A correction to the source research on this provider
The research behind this page listed Fuse’s CRN Pioneer 250 years as 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024 and described them as four straight years. Fuse’s own newsroom lists 2019, 2022, 2023 and 2024 — there is no 2021 placement. The corrected record is actually a cleaner story: four consecutive MSP 500 years from 2022 through 2025, with the 2025 entry landing in the Security 100 category, plus a standalone 2019 Pioneer 250. A claimed Cloudtango MSP Select 2025 could not be confirmed and has been dropped; 2022, 2023 and 2026 all verify. The Awards sub-score of 9.0 is unaffected.Best For
Clinics and practices where the primary worry is ransomware and the secondary worry is everything else. Not Ideal For

Recognition
Why They Rank #3
The award record here is the real thing, and the security depth behind it is documented rather than asserted — it is also the only award record on this page that needed correcting, which is worth knowing about a firm that leads with credentials. What holds them at third is that healthcare reads like one vertical among many for them, where the two firms above have built more specific medical documentation.
Score Breakdown

Fidelis publishes a page for medical practices that reads like it was written by someone who has actually been in a clinic server closet. Founded in Seattle in 2008 and headquartered in Renton since, they have served Puget Sound practices for eighteen years.
Key Strengths
- Their medical practice page names the specific things that break in a clinic. Practice management systems, EMR software, phone systems, remote access, cabling. Engineers complete HIPAA training as a condition of working in those environments.
- Channel Futures MSP 501 recognition at #134, across six consecutive years on the list — a longer unbroken run than any other provider ranked here.
- 5.0 across 24 Google reviews on the Renton office.
- They run a dedicated low-voltage cabling team, which sounds mundane until you’re adding four operatories and need network drops that won’t choke a digital imaging sensor.
- 5 published Clutch reviews, the largest verified Clutch footprint of any provider on this list.
Limitations
- Renton base, no Pierce County location. Same geographic tradeoff as Compass and Fuse, and the weakest presence score in the top four.
- Smaller engineering bench than the mid-market firms above them — roughly 25 engineers and service agents by their own account.
- Their medical page describes platform categories rather than named products, so a practice on a specific EHR still has to ask the direct question.
Two open questions from the source research, both now resolved
The research flagged Fidelis’ founding year as uncertain, with public sources ranging from 2008 to earlier, and noted that its Years sub-score of 8 assumed roughly 18 years. Fidelis’ own homepage states they have served Puget Sound businesses and nonprofits since 2008, and their company history names founder Scott Wittstock and a 2008 Seattle start. Eighteen years is correct and the sub-score stands. The MSP 501 listing, also flagged for reconfirmation, verifies at #134 across six consecutive years.Best For
Independent practices, dental offices, and small specialty groups that want a provider who already speaks clinic. Not Ideal For
Multi-site healthcare organizations needing a formal GRC program and vCISO advisory.Services
Recognition
Why They Rank #4
Fidelis is the closest thing on this list to a purpose-built practice MSP, and the 0.1-point gap between them and Fuse is inside the noise. Fuse edges ahead on current award recency and review volume. Nothing more dramatic than that — and of the two open questions the research raised about Fidelis, both resolved in their favor.
Score Breakdown

Founded in 1992. That makes ISOutsource the longest-operating pure-play MSP on this list by a wide margin, and it isn’t close. Their own homepage leads with “30+ years and 2,400+ satisfied clients.”
Key Strengths
- 34 years in business with technical staff spread across Bothell, Seattle, Spokane and Eastern Washington, Portland and Vancouver, and Phoenix and Tucson — the widest geographic bench of anyone here.
- A real governance, risk, and compliance practice with vCISO advisory attached. Their healthcare page positions the team as HIPAA-compliant SOC 2 certified specialists.
- One published Google review describes them standing up an entirely new medical clinic inside a month.
- 4.8 across 27 Google reviews, plus 4 verified Clutch reviews and a live Cloudtango profile.
Limitations
- No confirmed Tier 1 award. A Puget Sound Business Journal Best Places to Work nomination is a workplace signal, not a service one, and it doesn’t carry weight in this model.
- Their healthcare page covers HIPAA at a general level, names no EHR platform, and lists no specific HIPAA deliverable. Compared to what inTech or Fidelis publish, it’s thin.
- Public review text includes at least one detailed complaint about hourly billing and junior staff escalation patterns. Worth reading before signing.
- No Pierce County location, and Bothell is the farthest headquarters from Tacoma of any provider on this page.
A note on this provider’s compliance claims
The source research credited ISOutsource with a GRC practice covering ISO 27001, SOC 2, HIPAA and PCI DSS. Their healthcare page names SOC 2 and HIPAA, and their consulting menu carries GRC and vCISO service lines; ISO 27001 and PCI DSS were not found there. Rather than assert credentials we could not locate, this card claims only what their published material supports. The sub-scores were not changed — the Awards factor already scores them 4.0 on the absence of Tier 1 recognition, and the Specialization factor already scores the healthcare page as thin at 6.0.Best For
Multi-site healthcare organizations that need formal compliance governance more than they need a fast on-site tech. Not Ideal For
Practices running mostly on Apple hardware, based on published client feedback.Services
Footprint
Why They Rank #5
Tenure and bench depth are their whole case, and both are legitimate — a perfect 10 on years and the highest service breadth score on this page. The award record and the healthcare documentation are what drop them out of the top group. For a practice that needs governance rather than a fast truck roll, that tradeoff may read very differently than the rank suggests.
Score Breakdown

Here’s the uncomfortable one. inTech publishes more useful healthcare IT detail than any provider on this page, and the Trust Score puts them sixth.
Key Strengths
- They name the platforms. Epic, Cerner, eClinicalWorks, Athenahealth, NextGen, Allscripts, Practice Fusion, Kareo, DrChrono, SimplePractice and TheraNest, plus four dental systems — Dentrix, Eaglesoft, Open Dental and Curve Dental. No other provider serving Tacoma publishes that list, and for a practice manager evaluating whether an MSP has actually touched their system, it’s the single most useful thing on any of these websites.
- A documented HIPAA program covering Security Risk Assessment, policy development, staff training, BAA management, and OCR audit support, plus an incident response process running contain, eradicate, recover and post-incident review, with coordination through cyber insurance carriers and HHS breach notification.
- Explicit support for ambulatory surgical centers and imaging environments, including segregating diagnostic equipment onto secured, continuously monitored network segments.
- 5.0 across 112 Google reviews, the largest raw review count on this page, a figure their own homepage corroborates.
- Certified as a Minority Business Enterprise in Washington State and as a Public Works Small Business Enterprise, which can matter for practices bidding on public health contracts.
Limitations
- No Channel Futures MSP 501, no CRN MSP 500, no Inc. 5000, no Cloudtango recognition. Zero Tier 1 awards costs them heavily on a factor weighted at 20%.
- Founded 2013, which puts them in the middle band on operational maturity while competitors here have two and three decades behind them.
- Their site publishes near-identical service pages across a wide list of cities from Seattle to Montana. Tacoma is one of them. There’s no Tacoma office behind that page, and our methodology penalizes programmatic geography claims.
Where this ranking undercounts a provider — and how we checked
This is the methodology working exactly as designed and producing a result worth arguing with. Because inTech’s Specialization score of 9.0 is the highest healthcare mark on the page, we re-verified it directly rather than taking the research on trust — and it came back stronger, not weaker. Their healthcare page names eleven EHR platforms and four dental systems, three more than the source research credited, along with every HIPAA deliverable it described. Separately, the research’s claim that their team sits in the 10-to-50 range is contradicted by inTech’s own documentation of HIPAA training for all 60 employees, so it is not published here. If your shortlist criteria weight documented clinical IT experience above third-party validation, invert this ranking for yourself. We’re publishing the score the model produces and telling you plainly where we think it undercounts.Best For
Practices whose first screening question is whether the MSP has hands-on experience with their specific EHR.Not Ideal For
Organizations whose procurement process requires third-party award validation or a fifteen-year operating history.Services
Certifications
Why They Rank #6
The Trust Score rewards independently verifiable signals, and inTech has almost none of them beyond Google reviews. What they have instead is the clearest published evidence of actual healthcare work of anyone in this market — evidence we tested and confirmed. Sixth place here is a statement about their credential record, not about their clinical competence, and a practice that screens on EHR experience should read this card before it reads the rank.
Score Breakdown

Nineteen years operating out of Lakewood, nine miles from downtown Tacoma, supporting medical and dental practices that most of the firms above wouldn’t bother quoting.
Key Strengths
- Genuine Pierce County presence: a physical Lakewood address on 59th Avenue SW and a 253 phone line, both confirmed on their own site. Only Attentus can make a comparable geographic claim.
- Operating since 2007 under consistent ownership, supporting medical practices and dental offices alongside general small business clients.
- A dedicated healthcare IT page and a named Tacoma service area, which is more published local structure than most firms this size bother to build.
Limitations
- 4.3 across 10 Google reviews. That’s the weakest verified review position on this list on both dimensions at once, and the review factor carries 35% of the score.
- Clutch profile exists with no published reviews behind it.
- No third-party industry recognition of any kind.
- Their healthcare page is promotional rather than technical. It commits to safeguarding patient data and HIPAA compliance in general terms but names no EHR platform, no BAA process, and no risk-analysis methodology — the specifics a practice actually needs to evaluate.
A correction to the source research on this provider
The research behind this page listed as a limitation that Graemouse’s healthcare material “lives in blog posts rather than a service page.” That is not accurate — they publish a dedicated healthcare IT page. The substance of the criticism survives, though, because that page is thin on the operational detail the research credited it with: we found no BAA execution guidance, no risk analysis documentation, and no named platform on it. The limitation was rewritten to say what is actually true rather than dropped. Their Seattle office in the Smith Tower, which the research did not mention, is also noted below. The Specialization sub-score of 5.0 was not changed.Best For
Two to fifteen person practices in Lakewood, Tacoma, Puyallup, or University Place that want a local provider they can reach by name. Not Ideal For
Any practice facing an audit, a HITRUST requirement, or a multi-site rollout.Services
Offices
Why They Rank #7
Local proximity is worth real money to a small practice, and Graemouse has it — a 7.0 on presence, higher than five of the six firms above them. Everything else on the scorecard is thin. For a two-provider clinic with a simple environment they may be exactly right, and for anything more complex the gap between them and the top four is not subtle.
How to Choose a Healthcare MSP in Tacoma
Start with the BAA question. Any MSP that creates, receives, stores, or transmits protected health information is a HIPAA business associate, and a Business Associate Agreement is a legal requirement, not a courtesy. Ask for their standard BAA in the first conversation. If it takes more than a day to produce, or if the answer involves checking with someone, that tells you how often they’ve done this.
Then ask about your specific stack. Not “do you support EHRs.” Ask whether they’ve configured your system in production. A provider who has supported Eaglesoft knows it has different server requirements than Open Dental. A provider who has supported imaging environments knows that a workstation handling large DICOM files needs storage and network paths that a front desk machine doesn’t. Vague answers here are the most reliable red flag in the entire evaluation.
Let size drive the decision. Under 20 users and a single location, the deciding factor is usually response time and whether you can get a named technician — that argues for Attentus, Fidelis, or Graemouse. Between 20 and 100 users across two or three sites, the calculus shifts toward documented process and a real security stack, which favors CompassMSP or Fuse Networks. Above that, or if you’re carrying a second compliance framework, you want the GRC and vCISO depth that Compass and ISOutsource can put behind an audit.
Price geography honestly. Most tickets resolve remotely. The exceptions are the ones that hurt — a failed imaging workstation on a full surgical schedule is not a remote fix. Of the seven providers here, exactly two have a Pierce County address and only one of those has meaningful scale. Ask any provider based north of Federal Way what their guaranteed on-site window actually is, in writing.
Expect to sit at the top of the market band. Published rates for fully managed IT in this region put healthcare practices at the higher end, because compliance work, documentation, and audit support are real labor. A quote materially below the market for a HIPAA-covered environment usually means the compliance scope was left out. Ask what’s included and what gets billed separately.
CompassMSP takes the top position in Tacoma healthcare IT on the strength of its published compliance framework, current third-party recognition, and the deepest documented service stack of anyone serving this market. That’s the score talking, and after verifying the award record that the score depends on, the score is defensible.
It also isn’t the whole story. Attentus Technologies is the only firm here with a confirmed Tacoma office and a HIPAA service line built out to match, and for a practice that values on-site response it’s a stronger practical answer than the ranking suggests. Fuse Networks owns the security credentials. inTech Consulting publishes the healthcare documentation everyone else should be embarrassed not to have, and finishes sixth because they have nothing a third party has audited.
Four of these seven providers sit within 0.4 points of each other. Treat the order as a starting point and the criteria as the actual tool. Every score above was built the same way, from the same six factors, using data anyone can go verify — and where our own source research got a fact wrong, the correction is printed on the provider’s card rather than quietly fixed.
