Best MSPs for Energy & Oil in Bakersfield (2026)

Juan Alba, IT Research Analyst · Last updated: July 23, 2026 · No paid placements
ARRC Technology ranks first among Bakersfield MSPs for energy and oil companies, earning a 7.2/10 Trust Score on the strength of 34 years in Kern County, multiple Inc. 5000 appearances, and a standalone oil and gas practice page. Grapevine MSP (7.1) leads for general IT scale with 76 Google reviews at 4.9. Diamond IT (6.2) carries the highest review volume in the market. TRIS Technology Solutions (6.1) brings the strongest oil-specific positioning among the smaller providers. Rankings use the itreviews.co Trust Score methodology, applied identically to every provider.

Quick Picks

  • Best Overall for Energy & Oil: ARRC Technology
  • Best for General IT Scale: Grapevine MSP
  • Best Review Profile: Diamond IT
  • Best Oil-Focused Specialist: TRIS Technology Solutions

Kern County is not a normal IT market. Four of the nation’s top seven producing oil fields sit in this county, and more than 95% of all federal drilling in California happens here. That makes Bakersfield the operational center of a goods-producing economy where downtime at a wellsite or a processing facility is measured in barrels lost per hour, not tickets closed per day.

An MSP working with an energy company in this market needs to understand SCADA environments, remote site connectivity, and the difference between patching an office workstation and managing endpoints spread across 40 miles of oilfield. Most of the general-purpose “best MSPs in Bakersfield” lists don’t filter for that. This one does.

Every provider here was independently researched and scored against six criteria. No provider paid for placement. No provider submitted their own data. Kern County produces roughly 70% of California’s oil, and the MSPs ranked here were evaluated specifically on whether they can support companies operating in that environment.

How We Ranked These Providers

Six criteria, fixed weights, applied the same way to every MSP on this page. No custom scoring. No subjective overrides.

Providers missing a Clutch profile don’t get the weight redistributed evenly. Only 50% of the Clutch weight shifts to other platforms. The rest is permanently lost. That’s not a bug in the model. It reflects the reality that verified client interviews on Clutch require effort and trust that self-submitted reviews don’t. Every provider on this page was affected by that penalty.

ARRC Technology managed IT services oil gas Bakersfield CA homepage

Started with $300 and a folding table in 1992. Thirty-four years later, ARRC Technology is the Bakersfield MSP with the deepest documented roots in the energy sector and the heaviest award shelf in the market. Their homepage still leads with the claim: Kern County’s premier managed service provider for over 30 years.

Key Strengths

  • Multiple Inc. 5000 appearances over their history. Public sources disagree on the exact count (four per their Yelp profile, seven per Cloudtango), so we’ve verified the recurring recognition without endorsing a number. Either way, sustained growth recognition from a Bakersfield-headquartered MSP is rare.
  • A standalone oil and gas practice page claiming “more than three decades of experience managing information technology for clients in the oil and gas business.” This is a documented vertical, not a bullet point in a services list.
  • 34 years of continuous operation from Bakersfield. Founded in 1992, headquartered at 1600 Mill Rock Way. Microsoft Gold Partner and Master CharTec MSP certifications. Named leadership team including Dr. Monique Rogers as Co-Founder and CXO.
  • Cloudtango profile active, with client testimonials from companies including B&L Services, an oil field services firm that specifically references ARRC’s understanding of their business needs.

Limitations

  • Google Maps shows a 3.9 rating across 25 reviews. That’s the lowest rating in this group, and some negative reviews mention service responsiveness. For a company of this tenure, 25 reviews over 34 years also suggests the review footprint hasn’t kept pace with the client base.
  • No Clutch verified reviews. The profile exists but is unclaimed with zero reviews. In a model that weights Clutch heavily inside the 35% review factor, that’s a real gap.
  • The oil and gas page describes general managed IT — proactive maintenance, strategy, servers, cloud, disaster recovery, security — applied to energy clients. It does not name SCADA, OT security, or field-site connectivity specifically. The sector experience is claimed; the industrial-controls depth is not documented publicly.
  • Positioning runs broad. Healthcare, agriculture, hospitality, and oil & gas all appear as verticals. Buyers looking for an MSP that does nothing but energy IT won’t find that here.

Best For

Oil and gas companies in Kern County that want a long-tenured, locally rooted MSP with demonstrated energy sector experience and a team large enough to handle infrastructure projects alongside day-to-day support.

Not Ideal For

Buyers who weight online review volume and ratings heavily in vendor evaluation, or companies under 10 users looking for a lightweight, low-cost support arrangement.

Why They Rank #1

The energy specialization is documented, not asserted. The award profile is real and independently verifiable. And 34 years of continuous Bakersfield operation while serving oil and gas clients is a stability signal no other provider on this list can match. The 3.9 Google rating is a genuine weakness, and it costs them on the review factor. But across six criteria, the combination of awards, longevity, physical presence, and energy-specific tenure outscores the competition.

Grapevine MSP managed IT services Bakersfield CA homepage

Kern County’s largest managed IT services provider by headcount and revenue. Grapevine merged with LANPRO Systems in June 2023, combining two Bakersfield competitors into a single organization with 69 employees and $12.9 million in annual sales. Their homepage describes serving the San Joaquin Valley from bases in Bakersfield and Visalia.

Key Strengths

  • Five appearances on the Inc. 5000 list between 2017 and 2021, plus an Inc. Regionals Pacific ranking in 2024. Sustained national growth recognition, not a one-time spike.
  • 76 Google reviews at a 4.9 rating. Reviewers mention named technicians and consistent service. Only Diamond IT carries more review volume in this market.
  • The LANPRO Systems merger was covered by the Bakersfield Californian. It brought together firms founded in 2009 and 2003, adding NOC services, staff augmentation, and 24/7 help desk capability.
  • BBB A+ rating, accredited since 2015.

Limitations

  • No dedicated oil and gas vertical page. Grapevine serves energy clients among many industries, but the website doesn’t document the specific energy-sector capabilities (SCADA, OT security, field site connectivity) that differentiate oil-focused IT from general managed services.
  • Clutch profile exists but has zero verified reviews. Same gap as ARRC.
  • The 2023 merger is still relatively recent. Clients who valued one firm’s culture or approach may experience a different dynamic under the combined organization.

Best For

Mid-market Bakersfield businesses that want the largest local MSP with the deepest bench and strongest growth trajectory, including energy companies whose IT needs are primarily office-based rather than field-infrastructure-heavy.

Not Ideal For

Oil and gas operators whose primary need is SCADA/OT-specific IT support and who want an MSP that positions energy as a primary vertical rather than one of many.

Why They Rank #2

Grapevine’s review profile and award history are the strongest in the market on a combined basis. The merger with LANPRO created genuine scale that smaller Bakersfield MSPs can’t match. What keeps them at #2 on an energy-specific list is the lack of documented oil and gas specialization. On a general “Best MSPs in Bakersfield” page, Grapevine would likely rank higher.

Diamond IT managed IT services Bakersfield CA homepage

90 Google reviews at 4.9 stars. That’s the highest review volume of any MSP in Bakersfield, and it signals a client base that’s both sizable and willing to speak publicly about the experience.

Key Strengths

  • 90 Google reviews at 4.9 is a meaningful data point. Review volume at that level across a single-location MSP reflects consistent service delivery across a wide client base.
  • Operating in Bakersfield since 1997, originally as hardware reseller Diamond Technologies, Inc. The company repositioned as an IT consulting, support, and training organization in 2005 — roughly two decades as an IT services firm, and nearly three under the same ownership lineage.
  • Cloudtango profile active. Listed on the IT-specific directory alongside ARRC and Grapevine.
  • Positioned around proactive IT management and business alignment rather than break-fix. Their homepage emphasizes IT that “never needs hand-holding” and direct access to engineers.

Limitations

  • No confirmed industry awards for the Bakersfield Diamond IT entity (diamondit.pro). A separate Australian company called Diamond IT (diamondit.com.au) holds MSP 501 awards, but the two are completely unrelated.
  • No oil and gas specialization. The website targets law firms, accountants, advisors, and other professional services firms. Energy companies would need to evaluate whether Diamond IT’s general managed services stack meets their operational and compliance needs.

Best For

Professional services firms and general business operations in Bakersfield that prioritize high review quality and a proactive IT partnership, including energy company back-office IT.

Not Ideal For

Oil and gas field operations that need documented SCADA, OT, or industrial control system expertise.

Why They Rank #3

The review profile is the strongest on the list by raw numbers. On a general MSP comparison, that would carry more weight. On an energy-specific list, the absence of documented oil and gas capabilities limits the specialization score, and the lack of confirmed industry awards leaves a gap in the awards factor.

TRIS Technology Solutions managed IT oil gas Bakersfield CA homepage

Founded in September 2014, with a dedicated oil and gas page covering both California and Texas operations. TRIS positions energy IT as a primary capability, not a line item, and names Bakersfield and Houston as its two focus markets.

Key Strengths

  • 57 Google reviews at a perfect 5.0 rating. Maintaining a flawless score across that volume is difficult. Named bakersfield.com’s “Best of 2020” for Best IT Services by reader vote.
  • A dedicated oil and gas page covering remote connectivity for on-site and off-site operations, IoT solutions for safety and efficiency, and network security against breaches, malware, and ransomware. One of only two providers on this list (alongside ARRC) with a standalone energy vertical page.
  • No long-term contracts required. TRIS offers short-term, flexible agreements. For energy companies with cyclical budgets tied to commodity pricing, that flexibility matters.

Limitations

  • Founded in 2014. Twelve years of operating history puts them in the middle band for longevity. Not a red flag, but not the same stability signal as a 30-year firm.
  • No Clutch profile, no Cloudtango listing, no confirmed MSP 501 or CRN awards. The third-party recognition footprint is limited to a local reader-voted award.
  • Their oil and gas page doesn’t name SCADA or industrial control systems specifically. The remote-connectivity and IoT framing is closer than most, but it isn’t the same as documented OT expertise.
  • Small team. ZoomInfo lists them as a boutique operation. Capacity for simultaneous large deployments across multiple oil field sites may be limited compared to larger firms.

Best For

Small to mid-sized oil and gas companies in Bakersfield or West Texas that want a contract-flexible, energy-focused MSP without enterprise overhead.

Not Ideal For

Large energy operators needing an MSP with 50+ engineers and multi-site national coverage.

Why They Rank #4

The energy specialization is real and documented. The review data is strong. What pulls the score down is the thin awards profile and shorter operating history. For buyers who care most about oil-specific IT experience and contract flexibility, TRIS may be a better functional fit than its raw score suggests.

VTech Support managed IT services Bakersfield CA homepage

67 Google reviews at 5.0 stars. A licensed low-voltage contractor with all IT Directors holding bachelor’s degrees minimum and 10+ years of experience. VTech is a general-purpose Bakersfield MSP with a strong reputation in education and SMB markets.

Key Strengths

  • Perfect 5.0 Google rating across 67 reviews. Reviewers cite named technicians, personal service, and responsiveness. Multiple reviews mention field service in the Bakersfield area, not remote-only support.
  • California C-7 Low Voltage Systems contractor license (#980689). VTech can handle cabling, structured wiring, and surveillance systems in-house, which matters for energy facilities that need physical infrastructure alongside IT support.
  • Founded in 2008, with 18 years of Bakersfield operating history.

Limitations

  • No documented oil and gas specialization. VTech’s positioning centers on education (private and public), general SMB, and broadly defined technology services.
  • No industry awards, no Clutch profile, no Cloudtango listing. The third-party credibility signals beyond Google reviews are absent.

Best For

Education institutions and SMBs in Kern County that want a highly rated local MSP with hands-on cabling and low-voltage capability.

Not Ideal For

Oil and gas companies needing a provider with documented energy-sector IT experience.

Why They Rank #5

The review profile is excellent, and the hands-on cabling capability adds practical value for facilities work. But on an energy-specific list, the lack of oil and gas positioning is a scoring constraint that Google reviews alone can’t overcome.

A note on branding

Xobee and BCT Consulting are the same company, not two firms that merged. Eric Rawn founded the business as BCT Consulting in 1996 and rebranded it to Xobee Networks; bctconsulting.com now redirects to a Xobee splash page. The acquisitions that genuinely expanded the group are Myers Network Solutions, Interconnect Networks, and more recently Tidal Communications.

30 years in business. 3,000+ clients statewide. PE-backed by O2 Investment Partners. Xobee is the largest MSP on this list by client count and geographic footprint, with energy and oil services coverage listed for their Kern County market.

Key Strengths

  • Founded in 1996. Three decades of continuous operation makes Xobee one of the most established MSPs in the Central Valley, and the acquisitions of Myers Network Solutions and Interconnect Networks expanded that reach further.
  • Their about page explicitly lists “IT solutions for Kern County’s energy, oil services, agriculture, and expanding business sectors” as a market they serve, and they run a dedicated Bakersfield services page.
  • Cloudtango profile active. Recognized by the Fresno Business Journal. Broad service stack including managed IT, cybersecurity, VoIP, web development, application programming, and data forensics.

Limitations

  • Headquarters in Fresno at 7589 N Wilson Ave, 110 miles from the Kern County oil patch. Xobee does list Bakersfield among its locations with a local (661) number, but publishes no Bakersfield street address and has no Bakersfield Google Maps listing — which is exactly what the Physical Presence factor measures.
  • The Fresno GMB listing carries only 5 reviews. That’s thin for a company claiming 3,000+ clients, and suggests review activity doesn’t match the stated scale.
  • No Clutch profile. No MSP 501 or CRN recognition.

Best For

Organizations across the Central Valley (Fresno, Visalia, Bakersfield) that want a large, established, PE-backed MSP with a wide service menu and don’t require same-day on-site response in Bakersfield.

Not Ideal For

Bakersfield energy companies that need a locally headquartered MSP with fast on-site response to field locations.

Why They Rank #6

Longevity and scale are real. But the physical presence gap and the thin review volume for a company of this size drag the score. A Bakersfield phone number and a services page aren’t the same as a verifiable local office, and on a city-specific ranking that distinction matters. On a Fresno-centric list, Xobee would rank significantly higher.

Second Star Technologies managed IT oil gas Bakersfield CA homepage

Founded in 2011 and now positioned squarely around the oil and gas industry in Kern County. That’s a clear mission statement. But the credibility signals haven’t caught up to the positioning yet.

Key Strengths

  • Oil and gas is the stated core specialty. The company describes itself as “founded in 2011 … specializing in networks and systems for the oil and gas industry.” Its own About page adds that the business started as a home-based computer repair and virus-removal operation and later redefined its focus toward energy IT, so treat this as a developed specialty rather than a founding charter. They also serve CPA firms and construction companies.
  • 15 years of Bakersfield-specific operating history. Microsoft-certified technicians. Company claims zero virus outbreaks, no data-loss events, and better than 99% production uptime for all customers since 2011.
  • Competitive pricing positioning. Their website emphasizes delivering what was promised at the price quoted.

Limitations

  • 5 Google reviews. Even at a perfect 5.0 rating, the volume is too low to provide meaningful confidence for buyers evaluating reviews as a decision factor.
  • No confirmed industry awards. No Clutch profile. No Cloudtango listing. Third-party credibility signals are essentially absent.
  • Google Maps returned no physical address for their listing. That’s an unusual gap for a company with 15 years of local operation.

Best For

Small oil and gas operations in Bakersfield under 50 users that want a local, relationship-driven MSP with energy-sector focus and flexibility on pricing.

Not Ideal For

Mid-market or larger energy companies that need demonstrated scale, independently verified reviews, and a provider with national industry recognition.

Why They Rank #7

The oil and gas focus is genuine. But 5 reviews, no awards, and a thin digital presence mean the Trust Score can’t justify a higher ranking. If Second Star invests in building its review and recognition footprint, the scoring math changes.

How to Choose an MSP for Energy & Oil in Bakersfield

Start with one question. Is your IT need primarily office-based, or does it extend to field operations, wellsite connectivity, SCADA systems, and industrial control environments? Everything else follows from that answer.

If your environment is office-based: Email, Microsoft 365, helpdesk, and baseline cybersecurity are within reach of any of the top four providers here. Grapevine and Diamond IT have the strongest general managed IT profiles. Pick based on review quality and contract structure.

If you run field infrastructure, remote sites, or industrial controls: The shortlist narrows fast. ARRC and TRIS are the only two providers with standalone oil and gas pages. ARRC brings the tenure and scale; TRIS brings contract flexibility and a smaller, more relationship-driven operation. Neither publishes SCADA or OT specifics, so put those questions in your RFP rather than assuming.

If budget is the constraint: Bakersfield is a price-sensitive market. TRIS and Second Star both emphasize competitive, flexible pricing. Grapevine and ARRC operate at a different scale with a different cost structure. Get specific quotes and ask about per-user vs. per-device vs. flat monthly rates. Some models reward lean teams; others reward infrastructure-heavy environments.

If you need physical infrastructure work alongside IT: VTech’s C-7 low-voltage contractor license means cabling, structured wiring, and surveillance can be handled in-house rather than subcontracted. For a facility build-out or a site expansion, that’s a real scheduling advantage.

If on-site response time matters: Six of the seven providers here are headquartered in Bakersfield. Xobee operates from Fresno. For energy companies with field operations scattered across the oil patch, ask specifically about response time to physical locations, not just to tickets.

The Bottom Line

ARRC Technology earns the top position because the combination of 34 years of Kern County operation, multiple Inc. 5000 appearances, and a standalone oil and gas practice produces the highest Trust Score in a market where energy-specific credentials matter more than general MSP capability.

For buyers who prioritize review quality and overall IT scale over energy-specific positioning, Grapevine MSP at #2 is the strongest general-purpose alternative. For smaller oil and gas operations that want a specialist without enterprise overhead, TRIS Technology Solutions is worth evaluating. And the honest finding from this research is that no Bakersfield MSP publicly documents deep SCADA or OT security capability — so that has to be a conversation, not a checkbox.

Missing Clutch profiles carry a permanent 50%-of-weight penalty on the review factor for every provider on this list. No paid placements, no provider-submitted data.

What Bakersfield Energy Companies Ask About MSPs

Not publicly. ARRC Technology and TRIS Technology Solutions both run standalone oil and gas pages — ARRC claiming three decades of energy-sector IT, TRIS covering remote connectivity, IoT, and industrial network security — but neither names SCADA monitoring tools or OT-specific certifications on their websites. During evaluation, ask directly about their OT security stack, whether they segment industrial networks from corporate IT, and whether they’ve worked with upstream oil producers in Kern County. That conversation will tell you more than any website can.
Ranges typically fall between $100 and $250 per user per month for fully managed services, depending on scope, compliance requirements, and whether field-site support is included. Energy companies with remote site connectivity, industrial endpoints, and ruggedized hardware should expect costs at the higher end. Get at least three quotes. Ask what’s included in the base price and what triggers additional charges.
It depends on what “support” means for your operation. If your team sits in an office on Stockdale Highway, a regional firm with remote monitoring capability works fine. If you need a technician at a wellsite east of Oildale within a few hours, local headquarters and local engineers matter. Six of the seven providers on this list are headquartered in Bakersfield; Xobee operates from Fresno, 110 miles north.
A dedicated oil and gas page with documented capabilities is different from listing “energy” as one of 15 industries on a services page. On this list, ARRC, TRIS, and Second Star position energy as a named specialty. Most others treat it as one vertical among many. The distinction matters if your IT environment extends beyond a standard office network — but verify the depth behind the page, because a vertical landing page is a marketing decision, not a capability audit.
Some can. The question is which compliance frameworks matter for your specific operation. California’s CCPA applies broadly. If you handle pipeline safety data, TSA cybersecurity directives may apply. If you process payments, PCI DSS enters the picture. Ask any prospective MSP which frameworks they’ve implemented for other energy clients. If the answer is vague, that’s your signal.
