Wilmington isn’t just Delaware’s largest city. It’s the reason Delaware is synonymous with banking.

The 1981 Financial Center Development Act turned Wilmington into the credit card capital of the United States. Bank of America, Barclays, Capital One, JPMorgan Chase, WSFS Bank. They’re all here. Financial services accounts for 9% of all Delaware jobs, the highest share of any state in the country, and more than a million companies are incorporated under Delaware law.

That concentration creates a specific kind of IT buyer. One who needs an MSP that understands GLBA, PCI DSS, the FTC Safeguards Rule, and SEC Regulation S-P. Not one who’s heard of them. One who’s sat through examinations with clients and knows what regulators actually look for.

We evaluated MSPs serving the Wilmington market that have documented financial services expertise, then scored each one using the itreviews.co Trust Score methodology. No provider paid for placement. No provider submitted their own data. Rankings reflect scores. How We Ranked These MSPs for Financial Services

Every provider was scored on a 10-point Trust Score built from 6 criteria, applied identically across the board. No exceptions. No adjustments. Rating and volume both count in the review factor, but volume uses a logarithmic scale. An MSP serving 12 hedge fund clients won’t generate the same review volume as one managing 200 dental practices, and the model accounts for that. No provider can buy their way to the top. Rankings reflect scores. That’s it.

Trust Score Factors — Wilmington Financial Services Rankings

35%
Review ScorePulls from Clutch (verified phone interviews), Google, and Cloudtango. Rating and volume both count, with volume on a logarithmic scale so a firm serving a handful of large regulated clients isn’t penalized against a high-volume SMB shop.
20%
Industry Awards and RecognitionCovers Channel Futures MSP 501, CRN MSP 500, Inc. 5000, and Cloudtango MSP Select. Multiple appearances across years score higher.
15%
Years in Business and Operational MaturityMeasures stability. MSPs that have kept financial services clients for 20+ years have done something right. The model measures the verifiable corporate entity, which penalizes roll-ups built through recent acquisition.
10%
Physical PresenceVerifies real offices, Google Maps listings, and local staff in claimed markets. A provider serving Wilmington from a Maryland office scores differently than one headquartered on Kirkwood Highway.
10%
Industry SpecializationDocumented financial services expertise specifically: dedicated vertical pages, compliance certifications like SOC 2 and ISO 27001, FINRA and SEC documentation, named financial services case studies. Not a checkbox. Evidence.
10%
Service BreadthDocumented capability across the full MSP stack, from helpdesk to vCISO, backup and disaster recovery to compliance-as-a-service.

Review data was pulled from Clutch, Google, and Cloudtango; award appearances were confirmed by name, year, and publication; and physical presence was cross-checked against verified Maps listings and documented office addresses. See exactly how we score every provider →

XPERTECHS doesn’t have a Wilmington mailing address. What they have is 37 years of operational history, 4 distinct national recognitions, and a cybersecurity posture that most local MSPs can’t match on paper.

Key Strengths

  • Named to the Channel Futures MSP 501, CRN MSP 500, Inc. 5000, and Cloudtango MSP Select. Four separate national lists from independent industry bodies. No other provider in this evaluation comes close.
  • Financial services listed as a named vertical on their Delaware managed IT page, alongside healthcare, legal, and manufacturing. Their XperCARE DEFEND framework includes compliance facilitation for regulated industries.
  • Founded in 1988 in Columbia, Maryland. 37 years in the Mid-Atlantic market with a documented history of serving Delaware businesses across multiple verticals.
  • Cybersecurity isn’t a bolt-on. Their managed security practice covers vulnerability audits, regulatory compliance facilitation (including HIPAA and ITAR), and proactive risk management discussions built into the engagement model.

Limitations

  • No confirmed Wilmington office. They serve Delaware from Columbia, MD, roughly 65 miles from downtown Wilmington. On-site response times depend on staffing decisions that aren’t visible on a website.
  • Financial services is listed as a vertical, but there’s no dedicated financial services landing page, no published FINRA or SEC-specific documentation, and no named financial services case studies found during research. The expertise may exist internally. The public documentation doesn’t confirm it.
  • No SOC 2 or ISO 27001 certification confirmed publicly. For financial firms that require those in their vendor due diligence packets, that’s a gap.

Best For

Financial firms in the Wilmington area (50+ employees) that prioritize cybersecurity depth and nationally recognized IT expertise over having a local technician down the street.

Not Ideal For

Small accounting practices that need an MSP within a 15-minute drive, or firms that require confirmed SOC 2 or ISO 27001 certification from their IT provider.

Why They Rank #1

XPERTECHS takes the top position because the Trust Score rewards independently verified credentials, and no one else on this list has 4 national award appearances. 37 years of operation and the strongest Clutch review profile reinforce the signal. The physical presence gap is real and already penalized in the score. If your firm can live with a Maryland-based provider, the credentials justify the ranking. If proximity matters more than pedigree, TechSolutions is right below.

If you want an MSP that’s been in Wilmington longer than most of the businesses they serve, this is the one.

Key Strengths

  • Founded in 1999, headquartered at 5630 Kirkwood Hwy in Wilmington. 27 years of genuine local presence, not a regional acquisition. Co-founders Rich Monnig and Rich Kenney still lead the company.
  • Named to the 2025 Channel Futures MSP 501 (#405 globally) and the CRN MSP 500 Managed Security 100 category. Two national lists in the same year.
  • 2,500+ workstations and servers under management across 100+ clients, including documented accounting services clients. Their portfolio spans legal, real estate, construction, healthcare, accounting, and retail.
  • 98% client retention rate. In a market this small, that number would get challenged if it weren’t real.

Limitations

  • No dedicated financial services or accounting page on the website. Accounting is listed as one of 8 industries served, but there’s no specific compliance documentation (GLBA, PCI DSS), and no SOC 2 or ISO 27001 certifications confirmed in our research.
  • For financial firms that need documented compliance frameworks for vendor due diligence or examination support, the documentation gap matters. The work may happen behind the scenes. But regulators want it on paper.

Best For

Wilmington-based financial firms (10–100 employees) that want a long-standing local MSP with national recognition and a named team they can call directly.

Not Ideal For

Regulated broker-dealers, investment advisors, or firms facing SEC/FINRA examinations that need a provider with publicly documented compliance certifications and examination support experience.

Why They Rank #2

TechSolutions earns the second spot on the combination of 27 years of confirmed Wilmington presence, 2 national awards, and the highest physical presence score in the evaluation. The financial services specialization gap keeps them from #1 on a vertical page where compliance documentation carries weight. For general MSP needs with a Wilmington address, they’d rank higher. For financial services specifically, the cybersecurity and compliance depth of XPERTECHS pushes past them.

Partners Plus CPA firm IT services Delaware homepage

Partners Plus celebrated 35 years of serving CPA firms in Wilmington in early 2026. That’s a documented operating history, not a marketing tagline.

Key Strengths

  • Founded in 1991 by Bill Hogan. Offices in New Castle, DE (5 minutes from Wilmington), Middletown, DE, Philadelphia, and Malvern, PA. 500+ users across 18 states.
  • 4.4 stars on Google with 29 reviews, the highest verified Google review count of any Wilmington-area MSP we evaluated. Real clients, real names, real feedback.
  • Documented specialization in CPA firms and accounting professionals with a dedicated service page covering tax software support, deadline-season response protocols, and financial data security. They actually understand what happens during Q1 at an accounting firm.
  • Plain-language communications. No jargon. A “virtual CIO” engagement model built for SMBs that don’t have internal IT leadership. Sometimes that matters more than a fancy compliance acronym.

Limitations

  • No confirmed Tier 1 national awards (MSP 501, CRN MSP 500, Inc. 5000) found during research. That’s the biggest single factor holding the score down.
  • Google Maps listing is in New Castle, not Wilmington proper. Five minutes by car. For buyers who need a confirmed Wilmington address, that distinction matters.
  • CPA and accounting specialization is strong. But firms needing FINRA examination support, SEC compliance documentation, or broker-dealer IT won’t find that level of financial services depth here.

Best For

CPA firms, accounting practices, and professional services companies in the Wilmington/New Castle area (10–75 employees) that want a locally owned MSP with 35 years of documented expertise in their industry.

Not Ideal For

Investment firms, hedge funds, or SEC-registered advisors that need deep FINRA/SEC compliance infrastructure. Partners Plus serves the accounting side of financial services, not the regulated investment side.

Why They Rank #3

Partners Plus brings something no one else on this list has: decades of documented, specific CPA-firm expertise in this market. The Google review signal is the strongest in the evaluation. But the absence of national awards creates a ceiling the methodology can’t ignore, and the financial services specialization, while deep for accounting, doesn’t extend to the regulated investment side of the sector.

CompassMSP financial services managed IT homepage

CompassMSP built dedicated practice areas for both CPA/accounting firms and regulated financial services firms, with FINRA and SEC compliance documentation that most regional MSPs don’t attempt.

Key Strengths

  • 7 verified Clutch reviews with a 5.0 rating, the highest Clutch score in this evaluation. Documented case study with a CPA firm includes a full tax-season transition executed without downtime.
  • Named to Cloudtango MSP Select 2026, the only Tier 1 industry award confirmed for any provider ranked #3 or below in this evaluation. That recognition reflects independent assessment of business growth, customer satisfaction, and service offerings.
  • Dedicated financial services page covering SEC, FINRA, and NYDFS compliance alignment. Separate dedicated CPA/accounting page with tax software support (CCH, Thomson Reuters, Sage) and IRS Publication 4557 compliance documentation.
  • vCIO model with quarterly security posture reviews and multi-year technology roadmaps. CMMC documentation confirmed (100% SPRS score for an aerospace manufacturing client).

Limitations

  • Westminster, MD headquarters. No confirmed Delaware office. That’s roughly 70 miles from Wilmington. For on-site response, you’re relying on regional dispatch.
  • The CompassMSP entity was formed around 2016, though the company traces its heritage back to 1986 through predecessor firms. The methodology uses the most conservative verifiable figure for the corporate entity, and ~10 years limits the maturity score. No MSP 501 or CRN MSP 500 recognition found.
  • Acquired by BlackPoint IT Services (now Agellus Capital portfolio) in February 2025. Integration effects on service delivery aren’t yet fully visible.

Best For

CPA firms and small financial advisory practices (10–50 employees) in the Delaware Valley that prioritize FINRA/SEC compliance documentation and a specialized vCIO relationship over local proximity.

Not Ideal For

Financial firms in Wilmington that need same-day on-site support or companies that weight local office presence heavily in vendor selection.

Why They Rank #4

CompassMSP’s financial services documentation is among the deepest on this list. The FINRA/SEC compliance pages and CPA case study are specific and substantive, and the Cloudtango MSP Select 2026 recognition adds a credibility signal that most providers at this score tier don’t have. The score is held back by the absence of a Delaware office, a relatively short entity history, and a recent acquisition that adds uncertainty. The expertise looks real. The verifiable signals just haven’t fully caught up yet.

Sourcepass financial services IT Wilmington homepage

Sourcepass acquired SSD Technology Partners in 2022, inheriting nearly 4 decades of Wilmington IT history and a confirmed office at 750 Shipyard Dr.

Key Strengths

  • The only provider in this evaluation with confirmed SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 certifications. For financial firms going through vendor due diligence, that documentation stack matters more than most things on a website.
  • Dedicated financial services pages covering wealth management, private equity, and family offices. SEC and FINRA compliance alignment documented. Named client: Pallas Capital Advisors, LLC.
  • 24/7 NOC and SOC with a proprietary Quest platform for real-time ticket tracking and IT visibility. GRC (governance, risk, compliance) services specifically listed.
  • SSD Technology Partners, the acquired entity, was founded in 1983 as Software Services of Delaware and earned the Delaware BBB Torch Award and State Chamber Superstars in Business Award before the acquisition.

Limitations

  • Corporate entity Sourcepass was founded in 2021. That’s a 5-year-old national company built through acquisitions, not 40 years of organic growth. The SSD legacy is real, but the methodology measures the entity.
  • Public review presence is thin. No confirmed Clutch profile with verified reviews specific to Sourcepass Delaware. Google review volume for the Wilmington location is limited. For a provider that emphasizes enterprise credibility, the public review gap is notable.
  • National company with 200–500 employees and offices in 8 states. The Wilmington presence is genuine (SSD’s team stayed on post-acquisition), but the relationship dynamic is different from a 15-person local firm.

Best For

Regulated financial firms (wealth management, PE, family offices) in Wilmington that need a provider with documented SOC 2 + ISO 27001 certifications and SEC/FINRA compliance alignment as part of vendor due diligence.

Not Ideal For

Small businesses that want a purely local relationship with a small, founder-led team. Sourcepass is a national operation with local roots, not a neighborhood IT shop.

Why They Rank #5

Sourcepass has the strongest compliance and financial services documentation on this list. SOC 2 Type II. ISO 27001. Dedicated financial services pages with named clients. The score is held back by the review factor (thin public review presence) and the years-in-business penalty (corporate entity founded 2021). Strong compliance documentation doesn’t offset weak public review credibility in the model. If your vendor due diligence checklist starts with “Do they have SOC 2?”, Sourcepass is the only answer on this list. If the Trust Score model drives the decision, the other signals haven’t caught up to the compliance story yet.

How to Choose an MSP for Your Financial Firm in Wilmington

Start with your compliance obligations, not your IT wish list. That one question eliminates most of the wrong choices before you make a phone call. If you need documented SOC 2 and ISO 27001 certification from your MSP, Sourcepass is the only provider in this evaluation with both confirmed. That’s a vendor due diligence checkbox that wealth management firms, PE shops, and family offices typically can’t skip.

If you’re a CPA firm or accounting practice: Partners Plus has 35 years of documented CPA specialization in the Delaware market. They know what happens during tax season, they support the accounting software your firm actually runs, and they’re 5 minutes from downtown Wilmington. CompassMSP is a strong alternative if you want FINRA/SEC documentation alongside your accounting support.

If local presence is non-negotiable: TechSolutions (Kirkwood Hwy, Wilmington) and Sourcepass (Shipyard Dr, Wilmington) both have confirmed local addresses. Partners Plus is in New Castle, practically next door. XPERTECHS and CompassMSP serve Delaware from Maryland offices.

If award pedigree matters to your selection committee: XPERTECHS has the deepest national recognition stack. TechSolutions has 2 current-year national awards. CompassMSP earned Cloudtango MSP Select 2026. Everyone else on this list is running on reputation and client relationships, not published rankings.

If you’re SEC-registered or FINRA-regulated: Ask specifically about examination support. CompassMSP and Sourcepass both document SEC/FINRA compliance alignment. Ask for references from firms in your regulatory category. If they hesitate, keep looking.

One more thing. Managed IT contracts in this market run 12 to 36 months. The wrong choice costs more than the contract. Use the itreviews.co scoring methodology to pressure-test any shortlist before you sign.

Final Word

XPERTECHS ranks #1 for financial services in Wilmington on the strength of 4 national awards, 37 years of operational history, and cybersecurity depth directly relevant to regulated firms. The physical presence tradeoff is real, and the score already reflects it.

For financial firms that need a Wilmington address and a team they can see in person, TechSolutions is the strongest local option with national credentials. For CPA firms, Partners Plus has spent 35 years earning that specialization. For firms facing SOC 2 requirements or SEC vendor due diligence, Sourcepass has the documentation stack that passes the audit.

Questions Financial Firms Ask Before Signing

Big difference in practice, not just on paper. SOC 2 Type II means a third-party auditor tested their controls over time and confirmed they work. Without it, you’re taking your MSP’s word for it that they handle your data securely. If you’re going through investor due diligence, an ODD questionnaire, or a regulatory examination, the examiner will ask about your IT vendor’s certifications. “They don’t have one” is an answer, but it’s not the answer anyone wants to give.
Depends entirely on what kind of financial firm you are. An accounting practice with 20 employees and no regulatory filings has different IT needs than a broker-dealer preparing for a FINRA cycle exam. For the accounting practice, a strong generalist MSP like TechSolutions or Partners Plus can handle the work. For the broker-dealer, you need someone who’s produced documentation packages for regulators before. Ask for references in your specific category. No references? That tells you what you need to know.
For most issues, probably less than you think. The majority of MSP support happens remotely. Server goes down at 2 AM, the fix is almost always remote regardless of where the technician sits. Where it matters is on-site emergencies, hardware swaps, and the quarterly face-to-face meetings that build the relationship. XPERTECHS serves Delaware clients from Columbia, MD, about 65 miles away. If your firm needs someone on-site within an hour of a call, that’s harder to guarantee from that distance. If you’re comfortable with remote-first support and periodic site visits, the credentials justify looking past the address.
Any acquisition carries integration risk. Service contacts change, platforms merge, and priorities shift. Sourcepass acquired SSD Technology Partners in 2022. That integration has had 3+ years to settle, and the SSD leadership reportedly stayed on. CompassMSP was acquired by BlackPoint IT Services (now under Agellus Capital) in February 2025. That’s still fresh. Ask specific questions: who’s my primary contact, what’s changing in the next 12 months, and is my contract with the pre-acquisition entity or the new one? The answers matter more than the acquisition headline.
Look for three things. First, dedicated financial services pages on their website. Not a bullet in a dropdown. A page. Second, named compliance certifications (SOC 2, ISO 27001, or specific regulatory frameworks like GLBA, FINRA, SEC). Third, case studies or named client references from financial services firms. If they’ve got all three, there’s substance. If they’ve got a bullet point that says “we serve financial services” and nothing behind it, that’s a checkbox, not a capability. Ask about GLBA, PCI DSS, and the FTC Safeguards Rule in your first meeting. Specificity in their answer will tell you everything.
