Best MSPs for Healthcare in Minneapolis (2026)

Kate Larsen, IT Research Analyst · Last updated: June 12, 2026 · No paid placements
Netgain Technology ranks #1 among Minneapolis healthcare MSPs based on independent Trust Score analysis, earning 7.8/10 for its 26-year healthcare vertical focus, CRN Pioneer 250 recognition six years running, and Minnetonka headquarters. RYMARK IT (6.5) and Mytech Partners (6.5) round out the top three with strong local presence and documented HIPAA programs. Rankings reflect six factors across reviews, awards, years in business, physical presence, industry specialization, and service breadth.

Quick Picks

  • Best Overall: Netgain Technology — 7.8/10
  • Best for Mid-Market Hospitals & Surgery Centers: Med Tech Solutions — 5.8/10
  • Best for Twin Cities SMB Clinics: RYMARK IT — 6.5/10
  • Best for Multi-Site Specialty Practices: Mytech Partners — 6.5/10

Minneapolis is the world’s densest concentration of medical device companies and home base for UnitedHealth Group, Medtronic, and the Mayo Clinic ecosystem. Healthcare IT decisions made here carry real weight, and they don’t stop at the hospital system level. Patient data lives across Epic, Cerner, NextGen, athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, and a long tail of specialty applications running inside hundreds of independent clinics, surgery centers, and physician groups across the Twin Cities metro.

All of that data sits inside HIPAA’s Security Rule and Minnesota’s own data-practices statutes. The wrong MSP doesn’t just slow down ticket resolution. It exposes the organization to breach notification timelines, OCR investigations, and clinical workflow downtime that directly affects patient care.

This ranking covers managed service providers either headquartered in the Twin Cities metro or operating a verified Minneapolis office, with documented healthcare specialization. We evaluated providers using the itreviews.co Trust Score methodology and scored seven. No provider paid for placement, and no provider submitted their own data.

How We Ranked These Healthcare MSPs

Every provider scored on the same six criteria, weighted the same way, using the same independently researched data sources. Higher score, higher rank. No editorial overrides, and no provider paid for placement.

Trust Score Factors — Minneapolis Healthcare MSP Rankings

35%
Verified Client ReviewsDrawn from Clutch (15%), Google (12%), and Cloudtango (3%) with logarithmic volume scaling, so an enterprise-focused MSP serving fewer, larger clients isn’t buried by a high-volume SMB review count.
20%
Industry Awards & RecognitionWeighted toward Tier 1 lists — the Channel Futures MSP 501, CRN MSP 500, Inc. 5000, and Cloudtango MSP Select. Self-described “award-winning” without a named, verifiable award doesn’t count.
15%
Years in BusinessTriangulated across multiple sources, using the most conservative figure where they conflict.
10%
Physical PresenceA confirmed local office and engineer footprint in the Twin Cities metro, not a virtual address or a Minneapolis landing page with no local engineers.
10%
Healthcare SpecializationHIPAA-compliant hosting, EHR vendor certifications, named healthcare case studies, and credentials like HITRUST CSF — not a single bullet point that says “we serve healthcare.”
10%
Service BreadthDepth of documented service offerings from helpdesk and managed cloud through 24/7 SOC, vCISO, and compliance-as-a-service.

One market-specific note worth flagging: every provider on this list has an unclaimed Clutch profile as of June 2026. The methodology applies the same missing-Clutch penalty uniformly (50% of the Clutch weight is lost, the rest redistributed to Google and Cloudtango), so Google review data carries outsized influence across the entire ranking.

Netgain Technology healthcare managed services in Minneapolis homepage

Netgain is the rare MSP that built its entire practice around regulated industries, with healthcare as one of three core verticals from the start. Their Minnetonka headquarters sits inside the Twin Cities metro, and they hold the longest sustained recognition on Channel Futures and CRN award lists of any provider here.

Key Strengths

  • Six consecutive years on CRN’s MSP 500 Pioneer 250 list (2021 through 2026), with the current 2026 inclusion specifically for managed cloud, IT, and cybersecurity services
  • Channel Futures MSP 501 ranking of #11 in 2024 and #38 in 2025, placing Netgain in the global top 50 of all managed service providers worldwide
  • Microsoft Azure-anchored architecture purpose-built for HIPAA workflows, with a named VP of Healthcare (Nelson Gomes) leading the vertical and a 26-year operating history
  • Documented case studies in ambulatory care and community health centers, including published work with Northwest Family Clinics
  • 24/7 cloud operations paired with structured AI enablement programs designed for compliance-driven environments where regulators expect documented governance

Limitations

  • Public Google review volume (16 reviews at 4.1) trails competitors with high-volume SMB practices, though this is consistent with a mid-market and enterprise client portfolio
  • Best fit for organizations comfortable with managed cloud as the foundation; practices wanting heavy on-prem infrastructure may find the orientation mismatched
  • Clutch profile is unclaimed, which the Trust Score model penalizes regardless of underlying client satisfaction

Best For

Mid-market and enterprise healthcare organizations, ambulatory care networks, community health centers, and regional health systems prioritizing managed Azure infrastructure with documented compliance.

Not Ideal For

Single-provider practices with under 10 users looking for a high-touch local MSP relationship.

Why They Rank #1

Netgain earns the top position because the methodology rewards exactly what the firm has built: sustained vertical focus, multi-year third-party recognition across both CRN and Channel Futures, a Minneapolis-metro headquarters with named local leadership, and documented healthcare specialization at the service-line level. They’re also the only provider here that has consistently appeared on major MSP industry rankings for healthcare cloud services. The score reflects evidence, not preference.

RYMARK IT healthcare IT support Minneapolis homepage

RYMARK has run a Minneapolis-anchored IT shop for nearly three decades and built a dedicated healthcare practice line covering HIPAA, HITECH, EHR support, and telemedicine infrastructure.

Key Strengths

  • Founded 1997, with 29 years operating in the Twin Cities and an office at 6200 Shingle Creek Pkwy inside Minneapolis proper, not a suburb satellite
  • 4.9 Google rating across 47 reviews, the highest combined review profile of any provider on this list
  • Dedicated IT Services for Healthcare & Medical Practices line covering HIPAA compliance, EHR data encryption, telehealth security, and 24/7 monitoring
  • Security stack includes MFA, dark web monitoring, patch management, security awareness training, and managed endpoint protection

Limitations

  • No confirmed Tier 1 industry awards (MSP 501, CRN MSP 500, Inc. 5000) appearing in independent search
  • Service documentation reads as feature-list breadth rather than depth on premium offerings like SIEM, vCISO, or compliance-as-a-service
  • Best suited to clinics and small medical practices; less of a fit for multi-state health systems

Best For

Twin Cities SMB clinics, single-location specialty practices, and dental or veterinary practices that want a long-tenured local provider with documented HIPAA workflows.

Not Ideal For

Multi-state hospital networks or healthcare organizations requiring vendor-specific deep EHR consulting (Epic optimization, NextGen upgrades).

Why They Rank #2

Three decades inside the Twin Cities, a verified Minneapolis city office, the strongest combined Google review profile of any provider here, and a healthcare practice line that goes beyond generic compliance language. The award gap is real, but local presence and review credibility carry the score.

Mytech Partners HIPAA managed IT Minneapolis homepage

Mytech operates from New Brighton with a Denver expansion office, and they’re one of the few Minneapolis MSPs with both Inc. 5000 recognition and a dedicated HIPAA compliance landing page.

Key Strengths

  • Inc. 5000 honoree at #4611 in 2025, confirming a real growth track record verified by independent third-party financials
  • Founded 2000 with 26 years of operating history, three named co-founders still active (Day James, Nate Austin, Lyf Wildenberg), and roughly 103 employees
  • Standalone HIPAA Compliance page covering audit-driven risk identification, ongoing compliance maintenance through legal and technology changes, and breach risk reduction
  • Strategic IT consulting model that starts with business strategy before technical audit, paired with co-managed IT options for clinics that have internal staff

Limitations

  • Google rating sits at 4.1 across 27 reviews, lower than peer providers RYMARK and Vodigy in the Twin Cities market
  • Clutch profile is unclaimed, which the Trust Score model penalizes consistently across all providers
  • Healthcare is listed alongside professional services and non-profits as one of three primary verticals, not the sole focus

Best For

Multi-site healthcare practices and clinics that want a strategic IT consulting partner with a documented HIPAA program and growing Colorado presence for organizations with footprint in both states.

Not Ideal For

Practices needing heavy EHR-vendor-specific work (Epic, Cerner deep optimization) or 24/7 SOC services delivered in-house.

Why They Rank #3

Mytech’s score is essentially tied with RYMARK’s, with the methodology giving them an edge on awards and dedicated HIPAA documentation. The Inc. 5000 recognition is a real Tier 1 award, and the HIPAA page reads as a documented practice rather than a marketing bullet. The 4.1 Google rating is the gap that keeps them a hair behind RYMARK on review credibility. Worth weighing if you’re choosing between the two.

Imagine IT managed services Bloomington Minnesota homepage

Imagine IT has operated continuously since 1996, making them the longest-tenured firm on this ranking. Healthcare is one of four vertical focus areas alongside manufacturing, professional services, and non-profits.

Key Strengths

  • 30 years of continuous operation, founded by Peter Durand, Richard Anderson, and Marc Miller, all still on the leadership team
  • 4.9 Google rating across 39 reviews from their Bloomington headquarters at 2901 Metro Dr #201
  • Proprietary cybersecurity platform branded as The Security Shield, paired with compliance coverage spanning HIPAA, NIST 800-171, CMMC, and PCI-DSS
  • Multi-state operation through Kansas (Wichita, Sterling, Garden City) and Michigan (Zeeland) offices following the 2022 merger with Gilmore Solutions

Limitations

  • Healthcare appears as one focus among four verticals rather than a dedicated specialization, with HIPAA referenced as a compliance line item rather than a documented healthcare service
  • No confirmed Tier 1 third-party MSP industry awards (Channel Futures MSP 501 or CRN MSP 500) found in independent research
  • Generalist orientation may not match practices wanting vendor-specific EHR expertise (Epic, NextGen, eClinicalWorks)

Best For

Twin Cities healthcare organizations that also operate in adjacent verticals (e.g., multi-business owners with both a clinic and a manufacturing operation) or want a long-tenured local generalist.

Not Ideal For

Healthcare-only organizations seeking deep EHR vendor partnerships or HITRUST-certified infrastructure.

Why They Rank #4

30 years in the same metro and a near-perfect Google review profile drive a strong score, but the methodology weights documented vertical specialization. Imagine IT serves healthcare. They aren’t a healthcare specialist. That’s the difference between rank 3 and rank 4.

Med Tech Solutions (MTS) is one of the few MSPs in North America that operates exclusively in healthcare. Their Bloomington office sits at 7760 France Ave S #1100, supporting Minneapolis clinics as part of a national footprint that includes Valencia, California (headquarters), St. Louis, Morristown, and Boston.

Key Strengths

  • Healthcare-exclusive client base since 2006, with no non-healthcare verticals diluting the focus
  • HITRUST CSF Risk-Based certification on their cloud platform, meeting roughly 400 security controls aligned with HIPAA Security Rule requirements
  • Six-time Inc. 5000 honoree, current MSP 501 Elite status (2025), and 2023 CRN MSP 500 Pioneer 250 recognition
  • Vendor-certified support for NextGen, eClinicalWorks, athenahealth, Allscripts, and other healthcare-specific EHR platforms, plus RCM360 medical billing and revenue cycle optimization services

Limitations

  • The Google Business Profile for the Minneapolis office is unclaimed with no public reviews, leaving the Trust Score model with no local review data to reward
  • Minneapolis is a regional office, not the headquarters; primary technical operations run from Valencia, California, and the New Jersey data center
  • MTS operates as a subsidiary of Paragon Care following acquisition, which may affect organizational continuity and strategic direction over time

Best For

Mid-market and enterprise healthcare organizations (hospitals, multi-site physician groups, ambulatory surgery centers) running NextGen, Epic, or eClinicalWorks that want a HITRUST-certified, healthcare-only MSP.

Not Ideal For

Smaller clinics wanting a high-touch local relationship with engineers down the street.

Why They Rank #5

The credentials are real. HITRUST certification, MSP 501 Elite recognition, and 20 years of healthcare-only focus would normally rank a provider higher. The methodology penalty for absent local review data is significant. Minneapolis healthcare buyers who want a national healthcare specialist should evaluate MTS regardless of the score; the rank reflects what’s publicly verifiable, not the underlying capability.

True North ITG healthcare IT services homepage

True North’s offices sit in Mill Creek, Washington and The Woodlands, Texas. The firm publishes a Minneapolis healthcare IT landing page despite having no documented physical Minneapolis presence.

Key Strengths

  • Healthcare-focused operating model since 2001, with EMR/EHR hosting, HITRUST framework alignment, and documented vendor support for Epic, Allscripts, and NextGen
  • AI-enhanced threat detection layered with their healthcare cybersecurity stack, plus published case studies including multi-location neurological clinics
  • 25 years of operating history under founder-led leadership (Matthew Murren), with sub-minute RTO/RPO data center performance claims

Limitations

  • No verified Minneapolis office; the headquarters is Mill Creek, Washington and the second office is The Woodlands, Texas
  • Roughly 50 total employees according to PitchBook, with revenue around $7.3M, making them substantially smaller than most providers on this list
  • No confirmed Tier 1 industry awards in independent search (no MSP 501, CRN MSP 500, or Inc. 5000 verified)
  • Only 6 Google reviews at the Washington headquarters, with no Minnesota-based review presence at all

Best For

Smaller ambulatory healthcare practices comfortable with remote-first support, especially those wanting healthcare-only specialization regardless of provider location.

Not Ideal For

Healthcare organizations requiring on-site response, local engineer relationships, or any clinical environment where physical hands-on coverage matters.

Why They Rank #6

Healthcare specialization is real and the EMR/EHR depth is documented. The Trust Score model weights physical presence at 10%, and having no Minneapolis office at all (versus a regional satellite like MTS) costs True North enough points to land them here despite the strong vertical focus.

Vodigy Networks managed IT St Paul Minneapolis homepage

Vodigy’s St. Paul headquarters at 1700 Wynne Ave serves Twin Cities small and mid-sized businesses with a healthcare service line covering HIPAA-compliant IT, EHR security, and telemedicine infrastructure.

Key Strengths

  • 4.9 Google rating across 50 reviews, the highest combined review volume of any provider on this list and a strong signal of SMB client satisfaction
  • Dedicated Minneapolis Healthcare IT page with a documented HIPAA compliance approach, EHR encryption, secure access controls, and ransomware protection for medical records
  • St. Paul headquarters with a verified local team and consistent emphasis on hometown responsiveness paired with enterprise-grade tools
  • Custom software development team in Minnesota that handles healthcare-specific integration work alongside managed services

Limitations

  • Founded 2015 per the Clutch profile, making them the youngest firm on this list at 11 years operating, though their own marketing references “nearly two decades” of work — a discrepancy worth confirming with the company directly
  • No confirmed Tier 1 third-party industry awards found in independent search
  • Healthcare is one of multiple verticals (also finance and manufacturing), not a primary vertical focus

Best For

St. Paul and east-metro small healthcare practices that want a hands-on local provider with strong community references and a flexible service mix.

Not Ideal For

Larger multi-site healthcare organizations or practices wanting a healthcare-exclusive specialist.

Why They Rank #7

Strong local review signal carries the score, but a shorter operating history (per Clutch data) and no Tier 1 third-party awards put Vodigy at the bottom of this particular ranking. They’re a credible Twin Cities option for small practices, and the review profile is genuinely strong.

How to Choose a Healthcare MSP in Minneapolis

Match the provider to the practice size, compliance posture, EHR platform, and response-time expectations. Mid-market and ambulatory care orgs benefit from vertical specialists like Netgain or MTS. Small practices and clinics tend to do better with locally-anchored generalists like RYMARK, Mytech, Imagine IT, or Vodigy. Healthcare-only specialists like True North work for remote-comfortable environments.

Practice size and complexity. A single-provider primary care clinic with 8 staff doesn’t need the same vendor as a 14-site behavioral health network. Smaller practices benefit from local relationships, fast on-site response, and predictable per-user pricing. Larger organizations need formal SLAs, named technical account managers, and documented escalation paths. The first question to ask any prospective MSP is how many healthcare clients of your specific size and complexity they currently support, and whether you can speak to two of them.

EHR platform alignment. If you run Epic, you need an MSP that has done Epic optimization work before. If you run NextGen, eClinicalWorks, or athenahealth, the same logic applies. Generic claims of “EHR experience” don’t translate to optimization expertise on a specific platform. Med Tech Solutions and True North ITG have documented vendor certifications across major platforms. Netgain has direct healthcare cloud experience but is more cloud-platform-agnostic.

Compliance posture beyond HIPAA. Federal HIPAA is the floor, not the ceiling. Minnesota has its own breach notification requirements, and the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act may add obligations depending on your contracts. Federally Qualified Health Centers operate under additional HRSA standards. If you accept federal contracts or process credit card payments, NIST 800-171 and PCI-DSS overlay HIPAA. Pick an MSP that names the frameworks they support and produces documented attestation reports.

Response time and on-site coverage. Clinical environments don’t have the IT downtime tolerance office environments do. A medical assistant who can’t log in at 7:45 AM in a clinic that opens at 8:00 is a workflow emergency, not a ticket. Ask prospective MSPs what their guaranteed response SLA is for clinical-priority incidents and what on-site coverage looks like during patient-care hours. Mill Creek, Washington and Valencia, California are reasonable locations for a national specialist, but they aren’t down the street.

Reference checks specifically in healthcare. A 4.9 Google rating across 50 reviews is a strong signal, but it doesn’t tell you whether the MSP has actually run a HIPAA risk analysis recently or supported an HHS Office for Civil Rights inquiry. Ask for two healthcare references in your size band, then call them and ask how the MSP responded to a near-miss or actual breach event, how long remediation took, and whether anyone was held accountable.

The Bottom Line

Netgain Technology ranks #1 because the methodology rewards exactly what they’ve built over 26 years: documented healthcare vertical specialization, sustained third-party recognition across both CRN and Channel Futures, and a Twin Cities metro headquarters with named local leadership.

They aren’t the only option worth considering. RYMARK and Mytech both make sense for SMB clinics that want a long-tenured Twin Cities firm and don’t need a healthcare-only specialist. Imagine IT works for organizations operating across multiple verticals. Med Tech Solutions and True North ITG are credible national healthcare specialists worth evaluating regardless of the rank — both score lower because of methodology factors (local review data and physical presence) that may not be deal-breakers for every buyer.

Sub-scores are shown on a 0–10 scale. The Trust Score is the weighted sum of all six factors (Reviews 35%, Awards 20%, Years 15%, Presence 10%, Healthcare Specialization 10%, Service Breadth 10%). All seven providers carry the missing-Clutch penalty per methodology; every provider has an unclaimed Clutch profile as of June 2026.

Things Healthcare IT Buyers Ask

Three things, mostly. They run the day-to-day technology so clinical and admin staff don’t have to think about it (help desk, monitoring, patches, email, Microsoft 365). They secure the environment against the threats specifically targeting healthcare data (ransomware, phishing, insider misuse, medical device vulnerabilities). And they keep the practice compliant with HIPAA, HITECH, and state-level data rules through documented controls, audit support, and breach response planning.
$125 to $200 per hour for project work is typical in the Twin Cities, per Clutch’s Minneapolis MSP directory pricing data. Monthly managed services for SMB clinics generally run $1,500 to $6,000 depending on user count and complexity, with HIPAA-specific add-ons (risk analysis, BAA management, compliance attestation) often layered on top. Per-user pricing of $125 to $250 per month covers the most common ranges. Hospital and multi-site work prices very differently. Get an itemized quote.
Not strictly. HIPAA Security Rule compliance is what’s federally required. HITRUST is a recognized framework that demonstrates an MSP has built out more rigorous security controls than the HIPAA baseline. For ambulatory practices and small clinics, HITRUST is a nice-to-have. For hospitals, multi-state networks, or organizations that accept federal contracts, it moves toward expected. Med Tech Solutions is the only firm on this list with HITRUST CSF certification on their cloud platform.
Sometimes. For organizations comfortable with remote-first IT operations and well-defined SLAs, a national specialist with documented healthcare credentials can be the better choice than a generalist local provider. The trade-off shows up in physical incident response. When a server fails or hardware needs replacement, the lack of local engineers becomes visible. Practices with on-site IT capability or primarily cloud-hosted infrastructure handle this trade-off well. Practices that rely on on-prem servers and complex networking generally don’t.
Three questions. Ask for two healthcare client references in your size band. Ask which EHR platforms they have direct vendor certifications for and how recently they’ve optimized one. Ask to see a sample HIPAA risk analysis or compliance attestation report they’ve delivered (sanitized of client identity). A real healthcare MSP will produce these. A landing page operator won’t.
Both matter. The Trust Score is a research-driven composite, but the right MSP for any specific organization depends on factors no published methodology can fully capture (leadership chemistry, cultural fit, internal IT capacity, EHR roadmap). Use the score to narrow the field. Use reference calls and a structured RFP to make the final decision.
